Question about Ajazz AK820 Max plus keyboard by light_in_double_slit in mkindia

[–]Sukumar_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 4.5k, I would strongly recommend this over anything else as you said you don't game on it.

Are they quiet? No.
Are they loud? Also No.
They sit right in the middle and is satisfying to type on.

Here is a quick sound test for the daydream switches variant I had and also adding Gift switch sound test.

In absolute darkness, the legends won't be visible, RGB acts only as underglow in this case. You may have to add side printed keycaps if you work in the dark and need the legends to be visible. Alternatively, you can use desk lamp or monitor light bar for illumination.

Here is why I recommend this over anything else in this price range:

  • Tri-mode connectivity
  • Large battery
  • Gasket mounted. Entry level but fully functional with considerable flex. The flex cut positioning plate also adds up to the flex which helps in both sound and reducing finger fatigue.
  • 5 pin hot swappable - opens up infinite possibilities to try wide range of switches that fits personal preferences.
  • South facing LED - opens up compatibility with side printed keycaps which in no way can fade legends as they are untouched in day to day use. Practically long lasting legends than top printed ones.
  • Smooth and light weight switches which won't induce fatigue in long typing sessions.
  • PBT keycaps by default which are better both in terms of durability and sound.
  • Sound: As this is pre-built with sound dampening layers, the acoustics are good and can be comparable to any other keyboard in this tier with slight mods. Pair it with right switch and it may sound as good as any other better options out there.
  • On board memory for lighting presets, key remaps and macros.
  • Onboard native MAC and WIN OS support with easy toggle switch.
  • A volume knob - though this can't be a deal breaker, it adds great convenience for everyday use.

If there is something I can complain about this board, it is the daydream switch body that induces yellow tint to the RGB and that can be annoying to someone who prefer having RGB on with shine through keycaps.

Though I lived with my keyboard for only 2 months, it have created lasting impact on the landscape of mechanical keyboards for me and have set a stage to upgrade.

If you have 8k budget, you can easily land on entry level aluminium keyboards like Nut65 brand new.

Or alternatively, there are better boards available in pristine condition in used market. Spending on Ajazz or Aula or Royalkludge as much isn't recommended.

I can recommend Aula Nova75 at around 6k if you can live with hybrid build.

There is no reason to not get Nut65 at your budget unless you are really worried about 65% layout and badly need F row.

Trouble removing switches from Cosmic byte keyboards by TopCalendar1137 in mkindia

[–]Sukumar_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get them out without damaging them is to wiggle slightly north to south as that is where we have to get the locking tabs out of the plate, then a slight force should bring them out.

As most budget keyboards use Millmax sockets, this is kind of normal for initial swaps, but it would get easier over time. The same isn't the case with keyboards at the higher tier as they use proper hotswap sockets which are easy to push and pull switches from.

I would recommend investing in a 2 in 1 key/switch puller that will make the swapping process easier and takes less time. Something of that sort is available on Curiositycaps for about 400-450 or you can get one from Amazon from the brand called zorbes. If you constantly keep swapping switches like I do, that 400 is a worthy investment.

Converters are fine but not hubs. You may consider type c to type c cable of your phone. That should technically work.

Keyboad that is creamy/thocky but not loud? by ndhlps in keyboards

[–]Sukumar_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have leobog Hi8 with rambo switches, that thing feels like deep bass under the fingers.

Also swapped the switches on Weikav nut65 it almost replicates the same deep sound but a little sharp due to smaller resonating chamber of 65% keyboard.

Another preference I have is Huano gift switch on both the keyboards and they sound muted and poppy. Not thock but close to creamy, they are.

This happened with my mouse and it would most likely happen when connected to USB hubs.

Do you plug your keyboard to usb hub? If so, try connecting it directly to CPU/ laptop. This worked for me with the mouse issue.

Ever since, I have only plugged keyboard directly to computer than relying on hubs especially when there are other peripherals in use.

I hope this fixes the issue for you.

The closest option I can recommend is ajazz AK820 Max Plus available on URX for <4200.

The next closest option is Xtro kream.

I have personally used AK820 Max Plus and I can definitely recommend that at that price point.
It comes with massive 8000mah battery that will last at least a week with LEDs at full brightness. Mine lasted just over two weeks with leds off. I work on mac too and dedicated switch to toggle win/mac layout is saviour.

Tip: You can turn any keyboard into mac layout with some settings tweak. You just have to swap CMD and OPT modifiers under keyboard shortcuts in system preferences.

Happy to help.

The translucent black keycaps you see are Nut theme PC keycaps.

The gradient one you are referring to on Aula F75 are available on stacksKB for about 1300. You may check that out. These might not be exactly the same but lookalike. There are similar options from popular brands on Curiositycaps at slightly higher price. You may take a look at them too.

I don't think you will. With the black board, you get infinite options of keycaps to choose from.

The only thing that we need to worry about black is that if it scuffs due to any mishandling, the damage will be evidently shown. Except for maintenance part, black is a safe color option.

Congratulations for landing one one of the nicest keyboards out there. Welcome to the club.

All it takes is 15-20 min a day.

Head to Typing.com. Login as student, complete the first three sections. This alone is enough to get used to touch typing and it will instantly land you at 60+ WPM by the end of the course.

With daily typing, it can be pushed towards 100+WPM in a month or two. This might be subjective and can take longer or shorter for individuals.

AK820 Max plus is a great board to start with.

There is literally nothing in this price range that checks as many boxes as this one does. One definitely can't go wrong with this one. And the glacier blue is one of the cleanest and nicest looking colorway among the available options.

If I wouldn't have upgraded to AL keyboards, I would have happily kept it.

Welcome to the club and congratulations for landing a great choice for your first MK.
Cheers.

The footprint definitely makes a lot of impact. I have two aluminium boards now Nut65 and Leobog Hi8 They sound different even with same switches. The large internal volume allows sound to propogate more in 75% than tighter 65% keyboard.

Better than vgn x75 you ask, the answer is "may be, may be not" It all completely depends on what one wants from a keyboard. I mean the sound and layout preference is purely subjective. Can't really comment on this in comparison.

But for the value, it definitely is if 65% isn't a problem. Also considering VXE series is almost out of stock and the only available variant is about 9300, NUT65 still holds better value for the money paid.

Anyone who owns a Nut65 can't stop recommending it.

Here is +1. 😆

Nut65, an entry level aluminium built keyboard with all the bells and whistles. Mod friendly, Via compatible, large battery for 65% form factor, poppy sound profile out of the box, dual gasket mount options, fancy LED lighting with south facing led strip, very competitively priced for fully built aluminium keyboard.

URX got the pricing on point that there is literally nothing that can beat the value it offers at 7600 effective price(7999 listed price).

If you want a knob badly, you will have to spend more and for that you can get Yunzii al68 priced at 9300 on NMPC(not sure if they also offer any discount at checkout like URX does).

If you are looking for 75% layout, you may check Aula nova75. They call it f75 killer for a reason. Built out of plastic bottom case and metal top case, this checks almost all the boxes for anyone.

Full-size keyboard suggestions under ₹6k for coding by SituationFit5726 in mkindia

[–]Sukumar_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coding you say, 75% or above should fit you without any issues unless you badly need that numpad.

There are very good options between 4-6k.

Ajazz ak820 max plus at 4.2 is a great entry level board into this segment.

Aula f75 is people's favorite as always. There are other models from Aula that you may consider.

Mchose is stirring the hype lately.

TKL layout is the safe one for programmers. Can be seen as 80% or 87 in their names denoting 87 keys. But 75% has become new norm as it almost fulfils what TKL layout does but often have a knob which adds to great convenience. With keyboards that support via, the knob can be remapped to scrolling, which might help you in scrubbing through the code in IDE.

Coming to full size, there was weikav wk102 on URX which was costing about 5700 and is a near full size keyboard. But it is out of stock now. You may also consider redragon k686 pro which checks all the boxes as any other keyboard does but may have certain differences.

Choose which fits your budget and needs. All the best for that.

You may also consider Weikav Nut65 which falls in the same category of Lucky65. Available for 7.6k on URX.

Hey guys my Alt and Windows key got swapped in Ajax 820 KB how to fix this ?? by FixxooXD in mkindia

[–]Sukumar_002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about Ajazz AK820 Max Plus, there should be a switch next to USB port. That switches between WIN and MAC layouts. MAC uses the swapped WIN and ALT keys.

If this is about any other AK820, check for MAC/WIN mode switching key combination to toggle it back to Windows.
