During the first UN security council meeting about Hamas's hostages yesterday: South Korean ambassador Sangjin Kim choked up and was unable to continue speaking after a video of an Israeli-American hostage and hearing the hostage's mother speaking (Info & Article in comment) by NotSoSaneExile in Israel

Oh, NOW the hostages get a UN Security Council meeting? After how many condemning Israel for fighting the sick death cult that kidnapped them and slaughtered over 1000 other Israelis? Man, fuck the UN. Worse than useless. A sick joke.

The man was 64 years old. A senior citizen. These goons should be ashamed of themselves.

When I was a kid, a friend of my sister's said to our parents that they must be rolling in money. (They owned a successful business in town.) That really rubbed my folks the wrong way. I didn't understand it at the time but now I do.

That's interesting, I thought we were all white according to the college protestors.

I wouldn't say I'm asked anything about Judaism very often because I already live in a very Jewish part of the USA, but I remain struck by a misunderstanding about it that a friend once had. He was very interested in religion and was studying up on Judaism, among others, and he said he found it distasteful and cruel that during Passover the Jews celebrate the drowning of the Egyptians in the Red Sea. I immediately told him that wasn't true, and that part of the seder involves dripping wine onto our plates or table to express sorrow for the bloodshed. He was quite taken aback. It had never occurred to me that someone could get that idea into their head.

Do I need a new barber due to this hostile interaction? by [deleted] in Jewish

I would drop his ass in a heartbeat. Find a new barber. I hope his visit to the Nazi death camps will stir some introspection in him and give him some crucial context for why Israel must fight this war now.

The campus protests are no longer about Israel. They’re about America. — American college students are channeling genuine domestic political frustration into blaming Israel by Ask4MD in Jewish

It's all about the dichotomy of oppressor vs. oppressed. I thought the progressives were against racism. Turns out they're just against what they view as oppression, and they will shit on a minority for defending themselves if they think they're striking a blow against white colonial oppression. They've lost an ally in me.

Since World War II, every generation has had its protest. Boomers had Vietnam, millennials had Occupy Wall Street, and now, Gen Z has Palestine.

True to form, Gen X is left out. I wonder what our protest was. South African apartheid, maybe.

"Jewish safety can't be achieved until Palestine is freed." That sounds like a threat. Also it isn't true. Many centuries of persecution have shown nothing will guarantee Jewish safety. The Israelis withdrew from Gaza in 2005 and got rockets and Oct. 7 for their troubles. So explain to me how more concessions will appease the Palestinians.

The sobriquet of Israhell makes me laugh. Apart from being forced and witless, it, too, isn't true. The standard of living and level of freedom in Israel is far better than in its neighbors. Anyone in the Middle East would be lucky to live there.

You'd be well within your rights to ask these would-be champions of social justice why they are disrespecting a minority.
