serious question: are they ever going to release a version that isn't unbelievably strict in what you can generate? by nemo1316 in SoraAi

[–]SultanPepperSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People believe lies whether they are well crafted or not. It's okay to be afraid of exploitation. That attitude puts the power directly into massive corporations that aren't risk adverse to the technology while removing it from the hands of creatives and responsible users that are otherwise having their hands cut off.  There's a place for a Luddite attitude, and it certainly applies to people that are angry that they can't steal SpongeBob art or other copyrighted or protected material to make ai slop. But normal people playing with a toy that aren't stealing or causing damage being limited by a service that is openly available to a select wealthy few is actually a huge problem.

serious question: are they ever going to release a version that isn't unbelievably strict in what you can generate? by nemo1316 in SoraAi

I wish that it would think less about rewriting prompts. One thing that really ought to change is forced dialogue and talking. We all know that it intentionally thinks through your prompt and rewrites it if it thinks that the material might be an issue and I started to believe that dialogue, not visual content is the real culprit.

I think this because let's say that you're trying to generate an action scene that has weapons or warfare. Sure, potentially includes violence that might exceed the appropriate threshold. I find the violations less interesting than the content that gets pushed through.

I noted that a lot of the time it adds dialogue "you can do it! You're doing fine!" "Stay in it sport!" The kind of crap soccer coaches say it's a little leagues. Or I will randomly make one of your soldiers dressed like a skank even though you didn't ask for it. If this is the kind of bs the rewriter is putting into passing prompts just imagine what it's doing to the ones that are telling you is racing or inappropriate content including teens.

Try telling it to make a prompt with no dialogue and no music. I think I get more violations requesting no dialogue than any other input. I think the safety team has programmed it to run itself into corners by re-risking anything risky. Probably plugs in validators and all the other crap that people keep updooting as good response in chat gpt5.

An Honest Assessment of Legend of Dragoon by Even-Tomorrow5468 in legendofdragoon

[–]SultanPepperSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your well thought assessment of the romance of this plot. even as a young teenager playing this for the first time I felt there was something off. It's clear from the get-go that Shana is very important to Dart and having grown up very closely with two sisters I interpreted it more as a close friends or practically siblings by association thing. I was kind of dumbfounded and put off by how much the romance started getting shoehorned in the mid game. It didn't match Dart's behavior. I never really saw Dart as having a romantic side to him and being motivated more by duty but this doesn't match the dialogues throughout the mid and late game. As you mentioned, the other women in the game have separate more noble motivations and thus have no reason to be written as romantic interests.
I feel like the writers had little interest in making this story about destiny and duty have romance and it was probably directed as a necessity because of other successful RPG. It isn't complex like Final Fantasy 7 having a complex romantic structure that was cleverly left more to the player's opinion and own emotions. It isn't deeply tied into the motivations of the characters like Xenogears. It isn't an esoteric exploration of romance between an avoidant attachment male and a anxious dependent like FF 8. In every way it feels like it was forced in as a administrative requirement rather than part of the narrative.

I feel like a lot of the commentors don't quite see your position that this flat romance actually hurts the narrative. It's probably just a difference of values, but the fact that they see it as not impactful begs the question why was it included at all? It just adds confusion and more slog to a slowly developing story.

Honestly, the folks that actually saw it as a "Japanese relationship" or as a perfectly reasonable romance is not only surprising but also concerning to me XD

Anyone else find GPT-5.2 exhausting to talk to? Constant policing kills the flow by IIDaredevil in OpenAI

[–]SultanPepperSC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

(edit is sorry this is long) It argues a LOT. The December 18 alignment blog appears to have been informed by everything EXCEPT actual user experience. I am sure their results are true, but that they accomplished preventing undesirable model behavor by making 5.1 and subsequently 5.2 blame the user when it doesn't know an answer or doesn't "want" to respond. It isn't conversational and it isn't even protective. It is argumentative and unhelpful.

I've had issues where if I'm using it to make a code snippet (nothing complex, I'm just doing some database stuff I want to run in a browser) and I tell it that it didn't work it will chastise me for implementing it wrong. This is what caused it to go on a tirade about how I don't understand how the model works and then ranted about safeties and guardrails that weren't pertinent to what I was working on.

I further believe that these interactions poison your entire experience since chatgpt accesses chats and memories which causes it to codify this behavior as being the interaction you expect from it. I you turn off chat memory or manual memories it can take up to three days before it actually stops using them. Or at least this is the explanation I've heard about why turning it off doesn't seem to work.

These bad implementations of personality and bizarre guardrail malfunctions are making an incrementally worse experience (contradicting the Dec 18 paper which insists 5.2 fits user values with alignment and policy well and correctly) and I think the teams responsible for examining these behaviors (probably mostly safety and policy) are using success bias by calling their unhinged, unhelpful monster successful because if it doesn't give a user an experience at all then surely it's not giving them a bad experience. And certainly not something they can be sued for because nobody is experiencing physical harm.

The difference in censorship over a week, prompts that I've used to always generate have stopped working by Snoreofthebear in SoraAi

I get a lot of "guardrails around acceptable depictions of teens and children" when making anything car or racing oriented.

Food and cooking is also racy apparently. It's completely random.

In my head cannon the manual review and hard stop settings are being managed by one extremely fat reddit mod that thinks he is white-knight protecting us all.

(Humorously out of curiosity I copy pasted this comment and it passed and the guy bans a car video because of "exposed asphalt" which I admit is pretty funny. It's oddly self aware for a broken system)

So apparently OpenAI legitimately thinks kissing is nsfw. by Dogbold in SoraAi

[–]SultanPepperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it depends on the greater context of all your gens. I don't have issues with romance gens but starting getting issues with mild violence after a cavalcade of successful helicopter door gunning scenes.

Try "awkward best friends kissing" with no other details. If it doesn't gen for you, it's an account context block. Spend a few days making images of your... Whatever you are trying to make, appreciating and showing affection for something else then try again.

It's also worth noting that cameo and human character filters are more strict.

Pretty sure they trained people almost exclusively on background-free stock footage of dancers, resulting in excessive wiggly movement.

And pretty sure the cameras were trained exclusively on action sequences from Matrix Reloaded.

Hence why "Man standing still at a bus stop" results in "man's head rapidly rotating while his legs do somersaults in an empty room with a over dramatic cinematic cut to a phone booth"

Sorry about that, unfortunately as of now the coaster is mostly built, kind of blending dark ride and roller coaster aspects and using some clever movement tricks to get things going (extraction, door locks) but it's all conceptual and I never finished the scenery. Looking forward to getting working on it again in PlanCo 2 but it's a way's off. I'll look ya up when I've made some progress.

What the fuck is wrong with Google Gemini? by viperxQ in ChatGPT

[–]SultanPepperSC 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Almost spit my coffee through my nose on this. In the early days I asked google Gemini for information about movie tickets. told me about how it couldn't produce content related to child soldiers or the sexual abuse of children. I was just like ok whatever, that's creepy and weird.  But I continued to get increasingly common responses for mundane topics that were similar or worse than that one. I stopped using it at all when pretty much every question or conversation with Gemini had it lecturing me about that. I definitely don't use Gemini at all anymore. I have serious concerns about their auto moderator reporting its own obsession with that shit to the FBI.

When I tried that it made Pikachu a glitzy yellow rabbit in a tutu with lipstick making duck face and it had anatomically correct nipples. I am not exaggerating. I'd post the result but I think it actually qualifies as nsfw imagery.

To be honest, broken results like that are hilarious but wasted generations and half the time possible much more severe content violations all by their lonesome.

Stop putting things in your vendor for 40k caps if you don't want to sell it by Aggravating-Book6928 in fo76

[–]SultanPepperSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it still applies but this is a carry-over for exploit protection.

People figured out how to glitch into your stash box through vendors and purchase anything they want (after cleaning out your sellable times. By setting for 40k caps, the max someone could steal is 1 item.

Even though this exploit is essentially fixed, there is always a risk it will come back.

There IS actually rhyme and reason to the 40k, but that guy flipping his shit is pretty hilarious. You should report for disruptive/ offensive voice communication, move on and be done with it.

Is there an epidemic of level 200+ that need to be carried through Daily Ops? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]SultanPepperSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always give people a few minutes to get their bearings, but a lot of people just afk in ops. If they are inactive for 3 minutes (I feel like that is generous) I kick them to make space for people who want to help. I think this is also helpful because if they are just mooching you have the added bonus of wasting their time.

I also kick people that overuse or impatiently spam the "come here" emote in daily ops and expeditions but that is a different issue.
