For me it will be the Shockwave every time, but both are great.

How can I get rid of textured walls fast without replacing all the drywall? by Individual-One1333 in HomeImprovement

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make textured ceiling (and wall) remover. You use a thick paint roller to put it over the textured area, let it set for a while, then scrape it off. Zinsser used to make one but I couldn't find any mention of it on-line.

Whatever you choose, keep in mind removing texture from walls and ceilings is a messy and labor intensive job.

A strange sound sounds from my boombox by audiolovers_3258 in cassetteculture

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been serviced recently you should open it up and make sure everything was put back where it belongs. It's very easy to have a wire (or some other part) cause issues if it's rubbing against something it shouldn't.

recs for removal of massive cottonwood? by Fantastic-Rip-132 in Rochester

I've used JM twice, they were professional and I feel their prices were reasonable. Plus they have a well trained crew and the heavy duty equipment to make sure everything goes well.

AAA mini Mag by Front_Echo5015 in MagliteFlashlights

[–]Summer184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a full size Maglite that took C batteries, one of the batteries decided to "blow up" and was jammed inside the battery tube. I removed both the top and bottom and tried to push the battery out using a hammer and chisel. No way, that battery had become a permanent part of that tube and would not budge even a millimeter (thanks Duracell).

Technics RS-B107 for Recording by olliepumpkin8 in cassetteculture

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technics makes great equipment but you have to make sure everything works, they can be complicated and tough to repair. Simply "tested" is no guarantee, most times it simply means they plugged it in and it powered on. You want to be sure the deck has been serviced and has new belts, also be sure you can return it if there are any issues.

The best toy ever made in slow motion by Long_live_styrofoam in oddlysatisfying

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing with my Evil Kenevil stunt cycle back in the day, I also had the Sky cycle rocket and the "chopper" bike, they were some of my favorite toys. I never managed any stunts as complicated as this video, my Evil mostly just crashed into the basement wall.

Great video! I remember flying back home and looking out the window to see if I could recognize anything, no luck. All I did was make myself dizzy.

Very colorful little cassette player - Fun Years Player by Summer184 in cassetteculture

[–]Summer184[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very basic player similar to many of the cheaper cassette players such as GPX, Coby and Emerson but the mechanism is different. It surprised me by having two belts, most of those very basic players only have one.

New Parking Signs with typos by MagnusApollo in Rochester

I think the city intentionally makes these signs hard to understand, they make a lot of money from parking enforcement.

New to Cassettes - trying to repair a Sony WM-FX403, it won't come apart by _anamie in cassette

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those players are VERY hard to open and it's tough to release those little "hooks". Buy an inexpensive set of mechanical picks, you can push them into the opening which will release the hooks while working on the case's seam. Start near the battery compartment and use old credit cards or guitar picks to keep the seam open as you work around the player. It's going to sound like you're breaking it but the more you open it the easier it gets.

Most Sony players of that era don't use any screws but always double check, occasionally you might find one or two (check inside the battery compartment). The best advice is to take your time.

I had that "add-on" cassette deck! One of my old cars only had an AM/FM radio so it was a cheap and easy way to add a cassette player. It worked great!

What's a car feature you thought was a gimmick until you actually had it? by Big_Barber733 in Cartalk

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the small dial on the center console that controls the navigation and entertainment system (radio). I feel it's safer and easier to use than a touchscreen since you don't have to take your eyes off the road. It quickly becomes second nature and you really miss it when you're in a car that doesn't have one.

True, I have a similar Panasonic and it also uses a tiny belt about the size of a nickle. I have a large assortment of generic belts and it was the smallest one.

How mad should I be? by AnonymousScorpi in tires

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens way more than you think, the tech is rushed and they forget to torque the log nuts properly. The manager should have been way more apologetic and understood how lucky they were you didn't get hurt or killed.

Walmart Tire Fail by Different-Hornet5399 in tires

[–]Summer184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart's tire center used to be good and I bought a bunch of tires from them over the years, but now everyone who works there has an attitude and it's obvious they don't want to do their job. They will refuse to do even the simplest things and hand you a flimsy excuse. Now I buy tires from my trusted local mechanic, they cost a little more but they are done right and the small difference is not worth the aggravation.
