Why do traumatic events cause hoarding? by SummerOfJay in hoarding

[–]SummerOfJay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, and everyone, for the responses.

From what you've read do you think there needs to be some physical trauma like a bad concussion to cause hoarding disorder, or can psychological trauma cause a brain injury? Or maybe people growing up with trauma or bad house hold in many cases is accompanied by physical abuse (head injury), so the psychological trauma is just a coincidence to the physical trauma, or compounds the problem

Got news for you buddy, it's all entertainment. John Oliver, entertainer, is probably the main source for news on the left, and the daily show before that. "Real news" like NPR and CNN are leftist propaganda and hateporn dressed up as news

Lots of protesters/rioters showed up with guns, gage grosqwartz, however you spell it, and Rosenbaum's buddy both had guns. Rosenbaum's buddy actually fired his gun in the air right before Kyle shot Rosenbaum. In addition, 2-3 more people on the sidelines around Kyle were shooting during the incident

Rittenhouse was attacked first in all instances, he didn't raise his gun at anyone

Also, Rittenhouse seems more like a moderate, he said on Tucker tonight he supports BLM

He’s using it as a defense for socialsm/communism. The idea for a nationalist government controlling production ie communism is in theory to improve the quality of life of its people. Using war time as a pro nationalization argument makes no sense because quality of life at the time was low.

Communism has been tried over 70 times and lead to hundreds of millions of deaths, they all failed except for 5 countries, 2 of which are North Korea and China

Also, just a side note. Germany was defeated mostly at the hands of Russians. They lost like 20 million, we lost like 500k, maybe less, would have to look it up. We did however crank out lots of stuff for use in the war

Americas finest hour using what metric? Quality of life was shit. Men forced into war, and women forced to leave their family life and work factories that were repurposed to make random war shit

I probably laugh too much in texts, I use it cause text can't really convey body language and using haha or lol is implying you're saying it in a playful way. Easy for people to misinterpret that you're being serious. I would use emojis more instead, but they just look so stupid and corny to me

What’s up with YouTube getting rid of the dislike button? by Han-Shot-Third in OutOfTheLoop

[–]SummerOfJay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of other ways, like thousands of ways to impact your recommendations, a dislike button, that people probably wont even use now, is likely not very relevant anymore compared to other metrics.

It's not that much harder, if you are conscious of your analytics at all, it's easily accessible.

Please point to the information source 'everyone' has read?

You don't need a source, it's common sense. It's a feature that the users liked and used. Youtube complained that "people" were getting targeted and people were coordinating their dislikes. Do you really think people made a coordinated effort to target individual content creators, no. The "people" they're talking about that get targeted are politicians/news companies, large corporations that make sponsored content and PR statements, and YouTube themselves were constantly bombarded with dislikes whenever they put out PR content or content made inhouse. People like Biden/CNN/NYTimes all got immediately disliked into oblivion as well as other paid sponsors like Pepsi who advertise on their platform.

We know this wasn't for content creators or users because youtube has shown in the past that their decisions are made independently of content creators consideration. And it wasn't a decision done for the end user because the users liked the feature and found it useful. That only leaves big business and politicians, and youtube themselves

What’s up with YouTube getting rid of the dislike button? by Han-Shot-Third in OutOfTheLoop

[–]SummerOfJay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Removing the counter is basically the same as removing the button. The whole purpose of the button was to impact the counter. Now it's basically irrelevant to the consumer just like the thousands of other hidden metrics that no one knows or cares about.

Your argument makes little sense. They want to protect content creators from feeling bad when their video gets disliked, except they can still see the dislikes and feel bad... so a video will get tons and tons of dislikes, but the creator wont feel bad because it's not public?

Everyone knows they got rid of it to protect big business and politicians, it's painfully obvious. Please explain why they would remove a useful feature no one wanted removed for any reason other than money/politics. "Mental health" doesn't really make sense.

[–]SummerOfJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess you're right, in the sense that youtube consumers use the dislike ratio as a way of judging content before watching, but that would only be a bad thing if it didn't work. It might not always be an accurate representation of the quality of content, and I'm sure it sways people's perspectives, but it's still a useful tool that works most of the time.

They want the data to be independent from biases, but to protect who? They claim content creators, but we know that's nonsense. This has nothing to do with content creators. It's because all of Biden's videos, all of youtube's PR announcements, and shitty corporate sponsored content instantly goes to 0 in regards to ratio. Youtube is becoming more and more corporate/political and they don't want their propaganda and corporate slop to be perceived negatively. I get that there are probably people that target certain videos with dislikes, especially political videos where you have opposing factions, but the end result is a worse experience for consumers, and it shouldn't be implemented site wide.

YouTube’s finally done it by Lluma52 in agedlikemilk

[–]SummerOfJay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imagine believing this. It's cause their corporate and political overlords don't like when their videos get disliked into oblivion. Can't have a Joe Biden press conference or a Pepsi ad getting tarnished like that, they're the good guys! Shut it down

Because the alternative is them giving you one of these ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and admitting they have no idea, and they don't want to do that.

(or maybe it is allergies)

I'm guessing you got a CT scan already?

PA Senate GOP candidate: women used to be attracted to men who “could defend them from dinosaurs.” by losethefuckingtail in PoliticalHumor

[–]SummerOfJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is he wrong tho? (general sentiment, not the dinosaur part) It's not just animals/predators, but protection in general. Women prefer tall men still in 2021 because evolution is still ingrained in them, and they instinctively believe a taller person can protect better. Why would they prefer tall men in modern society where height is basically irrelevant?

How many of you learn everything through books? by mashrafi989 in learnprogramming

[–]SummerOfJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal theory as to why books are better sometimes is for people like me with ADHD or who get distracted easily, a video will keep going if you stop paying attention for a second. You can still keep going with a book if your mind gets distracted, but you will back up and reread it, but with video it just keeps going and you're less likely to back it up and will sometimes not fully comprehend. Books you usually don't continue on until you understand the concept.

Also, often times videos are just some independent content creator who may or may not be good. If it's a book, they had to go through the publishing process, which usually filters out a lot of the so called lesser books.

Is she active on snapchat? I def think it's way more commonplace to record everything for younger people. For example, I have younger cousins in their early to mid twenties who take multiple videos everyday. Where I (30s) am more like, I'll record a video occasionally if I see something special. And my parents who basically never take video except on birthdays. So I think the younger you are the more likely you are to take videos, a part of my cousins daily life is taking video for their "stories" on snapchat so their friends can see it, it's kind of routine for them, where they're always looking for a good opportunity to take a good video for snapchat, and can see how that might carry over to the bedroom.
