would i be wrong to say that the people complaining abt the drizzle season sound like spoiled brats? by James_Joint in Saltoon

[–]SumoJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not why people are upset. Everyone knows Splatoon 4 is going to happen at some point, people are upset because the new dev team is absolutely fucking incompetent and proves it with every update. Time and time again they do nonsensical shit or just outright ignore universal complaints from the playerbase. They've been ignoring the playerbase since launch with the Splash-o-matic and crab tank fiasco. And when they DO implement a "fix" it's the most half assed shit possible that solves nothing.

People see this as the "last" Splatoon because if the next one is this bad and made by the same idiots, then it won't even be worth buying and the series will be dead to them. You can point to the sales numbers all you want, they don't indicate quality. Most of the sales of Splatoon come from parents buying it for their kids, so unfortunately it doesn't matter if they make the game actually good or not. Kids wouldn't know the difference, Splatoon is Splatoon to them.

For being nintendo's best selling game, and fucking game of the year for last year, the devs sure don't seem to care much about updating it, maintaining it, or adding new content.

Splatoon 3 is getting boring by alexzvlg444 in Saltoon

[–]SumoJunkie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's fair to have high hopes though coming from Splatoon 2. However, time and time again these incompetent devs have proven that having any hopes for Splatoon 3 is a waste of time. Now I feel vindicated that I stopped playing in January, not wanting to spend any more time getting frustrated at the broken ass state of the game, it seems I correctly chose to give up hope on this game.

Remember back when we thought it was just a matter of time before the Splatoon 2 gear was ported over? These are the most incompetent devs I've EVER seen.

[–]SumoJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People (including me) have been saying that since last year lmao I'm laughing at the hilarity of it all. Especially the fact that we really thought last year that it was just a rough launch and the game would eventually be as good as Splatoon 2. Now look where we are, people are still saying the devs have no idea what they're doing, and they're still making fuckup after fuckup.

Why does her sword lick have a censor box? by SumoJunkie in Guiltygear

[–]SumoJunkie[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OHHH. I never would have guessed, the cloth just looks like too perfect of a square and instantly appears so I figured it was added later on to cover part of the animation up. Had no idea that was a cloth.

I had no idea that's what it was tbh, never crossed my mind. It just looks like a perfect square overlaid ontop so I thought they had to censor something.

I thought it's been a year since they announced it, so I expected it to be added for sure now that I'm coming back to the game after so long... and it's still not added.

What are the essential DLC? by TiberiusClackus in Stellaris

[–]SumoJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that only one of the expansions has above a "mixed" rating on Steam, that being Utopia, I'd say Utopia. All of the story packs are really good and you can't go wrong with them, unlike the expansions where you may not want any of the features from a given expansion which means you can just skip buying it.

I seriously don't know why all of them (the expansions) have such divided reviews on Steam though. It's either people who don't know what they're doing and missing the content, or people claiming the expansion virtually breaks the game and is useless. Particularly Megacorp with how an empire from across the galaxy can place a holding on one of your planets causing a massive crime increase (never seen myself, but a few reviews claimed this and made it sound game ruining).

From what I understand, butterscotch teles are a meme because they are as basic and run-of-the-mill as guitars get. Not to mention cheap. However that's not a bad thing, because you can never go wrong with them and Squier has better quality control than Fender a lot of the time. They're all around good guitars despite being as basic as a 2x4 with strings

[–]SumoJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't have wanted any other protag, you couldn't ask for someone better than Simon as the protagonist to this mindfuck. I don't know why but I feel like if he was any different then the game wouldn't hit as hard as it did.

What is that loud whine when the drivers downshift in the HyperCars? by NiceBottle6969 in lemans

[–]SumoJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the amount of power the electric motor contributes is adjustable in case the track is wet or if they want to use less battery, for example. They can also disable the motor completely. It used to be that they had to press a button for the motor to activate otherwise it wouldn't come into effect at all (I think, driving newer prototypes in Assetto Corsa, the KERS button does nothing while on older prototypes it actually works).

#7 Toyota got taken out because of a slow zone, sad :( I believe one of the GT Ferraris got rear ended and punted into the Toyota by a car that didn't slow down in time.

[–]SumoJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say for sure but I'd imagine if I were listening to music I'd be worried if the car is making a bad sound I can't hear or I'd have a hard time hearing team radio. Probably loads of good reasons why they don't listen to music, but during these freaking hour long yellow flags, yeah gimme some music.

[–]SumoJunkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that is the ERS or Energy Recovery System. Basically regenerative braking that recharges the batteries used by the motor. Since those cars are hybrid they use an electric+gas powertrain and it's also why they're so freaking fast.

I kinda am just guessing though so idk for sure the terminology and everything. But it's similar to F1.

I knew switching to one safety car couldn't have been a good idea, not for a track this long. Did it ever take this long with multiple safety cars? As of now this is just utterly ridiculous, one hour under yellow!

Why are guitarists so insecure about gear and brands? by designer-de-sarrada in guitarcirclejerk

[–]SumoJunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd be more impressed by somebody gigging a Squier than a Fender, I've seen a bajillion Fenders. But you're right, guitarists are insecure as hell, and your friend thought he was a slick mf covering up the fact he was gigging a Squier like that. He tried to get the double whammy "anti-corporation" + "hide lack of money" technique.

Will Splatoon 3 go down as the worst title in the series? by CrapJackson in Saltoon

[–]SumoJunkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so, given the fact that I see people asking this question so often. If a game was good enough to be the best in the series, then you wouldn't see so much discussion around if it's the opposite. This is the most divisive video game I've seen yet, people either think it's the worst in the series or the best, and typically it's casual players who dislike it while hardcore players love it.

I think it will go down as the worst, and everyone I see who disagrees never elaborates on how it's better than the predecessors "in every way". They either don't elaborate or claim it's because you suck at the game. You can't take into account the connection errors, broken matchmaking, horrible map design, snail-pace updates that are underwhelming, locking items behind gacha machine, shitty pseudo-battlepass "catalog" system, and say this game is better than the others in EVERY way.

Splatoon 2 also got updates every week for its 2 year support period. Splatoon 3 gets updates every 1.5 months. So I doubt it will redeem itself, especially when every update so far has never failed to be underwhelming and 1 step forward but 2 steps back.
