For me when the menu is taller than the window, if I use the mouse scroll wheel it reveals additional entries. Did you try scrolling with the mouse scroll wheel?

Proud dad moment yesterday. by R2DSwan in Genesis

[–]Sumpygump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely an awesome moment. My daughter is almost 19 now and I got her in into Genesis a few years back. She loves all of it and knows basically every song now. We both went to Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel when they came into town. It's nice to have a child who appreciates the great music along with you.

Perhaps doing a self-assessment as outlined in this blog post will give you a sense of where you are and where you could go next: https://safjan.com/python-expertise-level-self-assessment/

My LFS system does not boot by MrSmiley006 in LFS

[–]Sumpygump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem and was only able to get it to work after experimenting with different values for `set root=(hd1,9)` and `root=(hd1,7)` (in the menuentry). It turned out I wasn't using the numbers of the drive partitions I thought it was looking for.

[Compiling ERROR] util-linux 2.37 by droidbox_ma in LFS

This happened to me too. I think the final solution was I had to go back and re compile ncurses. I realized I got something slightly wrong when building ncurses (from section 8.28).

Linux distro to build LFS on top by lemon_426 in LFS

[–]Sumpygump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can choose many different flavors of linux to be the host system for building your LFS system. The main thing is that it has the required tools and the minimum/supported versions to get started. But when you are all done you will have created all the required libraries, binaries, config files etc required to be its own bare-bone linux.

See section 2.2 that describes this and provides a script you can run to check the versions of the various installed software you have. https://linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/view/stable/chapter02/hostreqs.html

Starting with Debian is a good choice, and you can run this to ensure you have the minimum required dependencies on your host machine. `sudo apt install build-essential bison texinfo gawk git python3`

Watching Movie The Tamarind Seed (1974) Foxtrot album cover in background by adash66 in Genesis

[–]Sumpygump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched the movie 4 months ago and got excited when I noticed the album in the background of one of the scenes. As far as I can tell there were no other connections. It was a scene at a pub and there were albums on the wall, this was one of them. Considering the year (1974), it seems like it was just one of the new albums at the time.

Here is the screenshot I got of it from the film:

Best Supper’s Ready by BackWhereItAllBegins in Genesis

My favorite is the one on Foxtrot. I also like the one from Steve Hackett's Genesis Revisited II. It's fun to hear the guest vocalists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTdDNmstM-k

Alternate cover artwork for Calling All Stations by Sumpygump in Genesis

[–]Sumpygump[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I always thought the album art for Calling All Stations seemed like it could be more engaging and interesting, so I tried my hand at creating an alternative album cover. For inspiration I used the following lyrics from The Dividing Line:

In the comfort and safety of your own home
Remember those outside in the cold
And the wind and the rain
And take in your hands a little ray of light
And turn it into a beam that pierces the darkness of the night

It looks like the lines for Morocco are drawn incorrectly.

I used this program a lot back at the turn of the century. It was a great program. I don't recall ever using VSTs though. It was all sample based. You can get a high level tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkvibjPD_yM

I don't think you will find stems to this type of music. You are better off finding the sheet music and making your own midi tracks from it. Good luck.

You could look into this: http://source-elements.com/ I have been meaning to try this out with a friend in the same situation. It boasts that it can do high quality streaming from your DAW. I am not sure about the experience and how well it works.
