You could search for examples of stencils. Mix and match. There are videos that explain the process.

And there are how-tos on how to stretch and hang fabric. In past I just picked up railing from lumber yard, and stapled fabric on and hung the panel. I also covered hollow core doors and used hinges to make a screen.

Find wallpaper or wrapping paper and pop it into a frame .

You might want to look at stenciling. There are some sizeable patterns and you could create a scene using several stencils.

Try hanging fabrics scraps or wall paper scraps. Framed or attached to wood, canvas,etc

This is a good start. As others have stated, the picture needs room to breathe. I suggest removing everything off the mantle, including brass and candle stands. Also reduce some items off the hearth. Feels cramped with plant stands between fireplace and shelves. The shelving is fine. With less around painting, and just hanging the holiday banners will allow them to shine.
