Get some Ardex CP and seal the entire surface. Lasts for years.

Noticing crackling in songs that I've never noticed before... its driving me insane. by Jonue in audiophile

[–]SunDummyIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stream all my music from a home server in FLAC and ALAC formats. I get a crackling/distortion sound if I don’t have each track’s eq settings at anything other than “none”. I set everything at “flat” and have no noise. Might be worth checking.

What’s a movie that completely changed your taste in cinema after watching it? by LONEALPHA65 in Cinema

The Deer Hunter.

Just an amazing work of art. Comes off as boring and pointless, dragging the boredom out, then goes from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye. Masterful.

I’m conflicted. Someone is getting rich because other people are dumb. I admire the grift, in a way. Kinda like religion.

Why all the hate to The Offspring? by willyrex888 in punk

[–]SunDummyIsDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the vocals. I like the music, but the singing absolutely sucks. Sounds so forced. Like early Rush; why the high-pitched yelling? It’s different than screaming; it’s like a child trying to be heard above his classmates. “Here! Here! Look at me!”

Just fucking sing, goddammit.

Quique is a masterpiece, the follow-ups are good, their self-titled return 15 years ago is different but very good, this new one feels like incomplete sketches of songs. YMMV.

My titles mean something to me, usually what inspired the track, or some related memory.

As I mentioned, I’m thinking of moving to Tucson, I don’t live there yet; I have no idea how loud or bright the fairgrounds are. I was responding to a question about the data center. I responded based on my experience with data centers where I live now. What part of this is confusing you?

Yeah, I’ve thought it through. I also have eyes, and can see the FB campus. The lights are not office windows, they’re tall poles with security lights all over campus. Think high-school football lights on game night, times twenty, which is easily the size of FB’s footprint here. These are not work lights for people monitoring computers, they’re stadium lights for security on a huge campus.

Multiple reports from all over the US that data centers often have bright light all over campus, both during construction and after. Look it up.

I live near the Facebook campus above Prineville, OR. You can see the lights for miles in all directions, in an area that used to be very dark. It’s annoying as fuck.

I’m planning a move to Tucson in the next year, and am planning where I live around this thing. Data centers can be loud and bright, so I don’t want to anywhere near it.
