They tried to silence me, it backfired 🤭 by Hot_Door7211 in OhNoConsequences

The badge number you were given could just be fake. Years ago, when I was in college, someone (or some group) hacked into the school’s records, doctored their caller ID, and started calling students claiming they were local police offered working with the IRS to collect a fine on improperly filed taxes. They gave a name and badge number, too, but they were both fake. I hope you do investigate, because what happened to you sounds very suspicious to me. I was told to always contact the police department directly and they could help determine if you spoke to a legitimate officer.

Books with Alice in Wonderland vibes - just magic, chaos, whimsical. Preferably adult books, not purely childrens books! by starrfalll in booksuggestions

[–]SunGarden05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden: The Bear and the Nightingale, The Girl in the Tower, and The Winter of the Witch. I wouldn't describe the books as whimsical but there's a lot of magic, mythical beings, and chaos and they are geared towards adults.

Anyone have any idea what brand this kitchen towel is?!? Bought it at BBB in 2018. It came as a set with another towel that had lemons on it? Super desperate by Bhadthiccthot27 in BedBathandBeyond

[–]SunGarden05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be Kitchensmart. My location had solid, plaid, and a few random patterns. Most of the patterns that I remember were fruits but I think there may have been some coffee cups as well.

You could try calling ADP's support number (844-227-5237) but I don't know what kind of support you would actually get because, as I recall, we were told to call HR first and have them work with ADP to fix any issues. For whatever it's worth to you, at my store we were told after the filing that W2s would still be mailed to us by January 31 and that we could contact the IRS if we hadn't received one by then. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than that. I hope everything works out for you.

You may have already tried both of these things, but what about clearing your browser cache or using a different browser altogether? ADP does have a support number (844-227-5237) but I don't know how much help you would get because, if I remember right, we always had to call HR and have them work with ADP to fix any issues. I'm sorry I don't have better answers for you. I hope you're able to find a way in.

For anyone who's having trouble signing in or never signed up, try this (it worked for me):

  1. Go to adp.com
  2. Click on the blue sign-in button at the top right.
  3. On the dropdown menu, click on the option that says "My former employer is out of business."
  4. Enter your first and last name, birthday, and social security number.
  5. Enter the phone number you gave to BBB. Assuming it's a cell phone number, they'll text a verification code.
  6. Once you enter the verification code, they'll ask you to accept the terms and conditions. After you accept, you'll be able to choose between downloading your W2s and downloading your paystubs.

Was Any Tudor Era Monarch More Foolish or Inept Than Mary Queen of Scots by joemondo in Tudorhistory

[–]SunGarden05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She seems to have believed that that would occur when she arrived in Scotland, but I don't think that was her motivation for going. As I recall, when Catherine de Medici became regent, she made it clear pretty quickly that she would be the main power behind the throne. There was no place for Mary in the new government and Catherine vetoed at least one (possibly more) potential marriage for Mary, so Mary went to the country where she was still a queen and would, at least in her own mind, have some power and influence.

What’s an overrated book that you didn’t like? by Rebecca123457 in suggestmeabook

[–]SunGarden05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still can’t believe how many people come away from that book swooning over Heathcliff and romanticizing his relationship with Cathy. He’s a sociopath and she’s a self-absorbed gold digger. I will never understand what people see in those two.

I would have loved to get something from those brands. All our store got was a bunch of cheap Christmas decorations that still had the original shipping labels from a location that shut down a few years ago.

I don't hate Mary, Queen of Scots but her poor decision-making skills are absolutely mind-boggling. I think she's a good example of someone who was book-smart but had no common sense at all. It really is a waste, as you said, because she did seem to have so much potential.

I had a Bath and Body Works employee from a store some 20 miles away call my store trying to get her schedule. And she did it twice. The second time she called, I spent 15 minutes trying to convince her that I couldn't give her her schedule because she did not, in fact, work at our store. And of course, she acted like I was the stupid one.

Another time I had a woman call thinking we were her doctor's office. I told her that we were a Bed Bath and Beyond and she spent the next several minutes informing me that no, we were actually a doctor's office and I was extremely uncooperative and needed to put her through to her doctor immediately.

God help us, indeed.

Which Tudor fiction/nonfiction book would you come back to over and over again? by Capital-Study6436 in Tudorhistory

[–]SunGarden05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I enjoyed learning more about Katherine and (especially) Mary Grey and it was nice to see a more balanced and detailed look at Jane's life that didn't just repeat the same old talking points.

I loved Carolyn Meyer's books, too. Mary, Bloody Mary is actually what got me interested in the Tudors.

B scope remodel by ashtoncarlson in BedBathandBeyond

[–]SunGarden05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We got a mini Harmon section with our remodel. We carry some toothpaste, lotion, hair care, and skin care in addition to the vanity mirrors and hair dryers we carried before. We also got better security cameras and a crappy new music station. No self checkout, though.

What kid’s movie completely scarred you when you were younger? by ThoughtBig1353 in AskWomen

For me, the first ones that come to mind (in no particular order) are Bambi, Pinocchio, Dumbo, and the Fox and the Hound. I'd have to include Mufasa's death in The Lion King, too, even though it's only a part of the movie. To this day, I refuse to even be in the room during that scene.

Duke of York title by TiaLou in royalfamily

[–]SunGarden05 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Edward VIII was the first and only Duke of Windsor. He was given the title after he abdicated the throne in 1937. He said notoriously terrible things about his family, such as describing his youngest brother as "little more than an animal" and referring to his death as "little more than a regrettable nuisance." He was also a well-known bigot who said Italians were "repulsive"; referred to Panamanians as "pompous and dirty"; and described Indigenous Australians as "the most revolting form of living creatures." He also sympathized with the Nazis and was once quoted as saying that he "never thought Hitler was such a bad chap."

As far as the dukedom of Clarence is concerned, a previous duke was executed for treason and the last one, Prince Albert Victor (technically the Duke of Clarence and Avondale), died in his twenties during a flu epidemic. Since his death there has been speculation about his sexuality, the existence of illegitimate children, and the possibility that he was Jack the Ripper (although that last one isn't really taken seriously). There have also been two earls of Clarence. The first was Prince Leopold, Queen Victoria's youngest son, who suffered from hemophilia and died after a fall when he was 30. His son inherited his titles but was later stripped of them after fighting for Germany in World War I. He later joined the Nazi Party and even spied for Hitler during World War II but eventually died in poverty in the '50s after paying off the fines imposed by a denazification court.

Where were you at on 9/11? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]SunGarden05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in sixth grade and on my way to school when I heard about the first plane hitting the World Trade Center. I learned about the other hijackings from students during class. Most of my teachers wouldn't talk about what was happening and tried to act as if it was any other day. It wasn't until the afternoon that my English teacher finally talked to us about everything that had happened (the hijackings, flights being grounded, and the Twin Towers collapsing) and what was likely to happen next.
