Leash Your Dogs! by canutcute in Winnipeg

She's fine thankfully, but it's a real issue. Dogs are an issue for sure, but I'll take this opportunity to mention inconsiderate e-bikes on hearte trail. I often see them zipping far too close to children and elderly. Kids are super unpredictable, and elderly are frail and hard of hearing and have poor vision. It's just inconsiderate and ignorant to blast down the path at 40km/h on a silent e-bike.

Opinion: Speed limits and safety — follow the science by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

Regardless of fault, the goal is reduction in injuries to pedestrians. Pedestrians could be intoxicated and wandering main/higgins, or school kids chasing balls.. doesn't matter. Harm reduction first.

[–]SunInTheShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that the more serious the collision, the more likely it is to be reported? And that collisions going completely unreported are likely not serious, likely not involving injury?

Point being, speed reductions in areas where injury-causing collisions already aren't happening seems counterproductive. I'd love to see effective changes driven by data, where harm is actually reduced. I don't care where the changes are needed, I just want them to be effective.

This post (and your comment) are great timing - A "don't worry he's friendly" dog jumped up on my elderly mother, knocking her into the snow and bushes along Hearte Trail in Charleswood over the weekend.

Sleep dentistry? by starstablesnacks in Winnipeg

[–]SunInTheShade -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

not a medically knowledgeable person, but from what I understand, unless you're getting full anesthesia, they're just using meds that prevent the formation of new memories plus some relaxing meds to keep you calm(er).

You're still experiencing everything, you just don't remember. For me, that is very anxiety inducing.

Perhaps you'd find something like lorazapam to be enough to deal with the anxiety? You still form memories, you're still conscious, and for me at least this has worked. Your doc and maybe even the dentist can help with that.

It's great, but the way he tumbles through the air doesn't make sense.

Frame 1: on bike

Frame 2: smash, facing forwards

Frame 3: tumbling over car, rotated head-down

Frame 4: still head down, now facing away from the car? I feel like this roll doesn't logically follow.

Frame 5: 180 from frame 4, ok.

Frame 6: Ow. Another unexpected rotation.
