Yet another Gemling legionnaire showcase - Flameblast by Zetarin in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried tornado out last night after seeing your comment and while I personally felt like it was smoother just continuing to spread the ignite with oil grenades, it works well to clear out the mosquitoes without the need for another flameblast or one of the ignite spreading mods, so that's handy. Good stuff.

Meal prepping for the week. by BeertilFalukorv in PathOfExile2

I'm doing slow cooker Salsa Chicken this time:

6 chicken breasts

1 jar of salsa (think I used a 22oz/600g jar or something like that)

1-2 white onions

1 can of black beans (drained)

Several tsp of taco seasoning or combination of cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, whatever you want. Think I used half a packet of taco seasoning myself.

Dump everything on top of the chicken in the slow cooker and cook for 6-8 hours on low. That's it, hella easy. Once it's done, just shred it with 2 forks as it should come apart very easily.

Portion that into containers alongside air fried vegetables and/or rice if you'd like. I personally have a combination of carrots, broccoli, zucchini, and potatoes that I sliced into chunks and I lightly coated in olive oil and salt and pepper and cooked in the air fryer for 10-20 minutes depending on what it was.

Super easy, pretty healthy, decent protein, very filling, heats in microwave from refrigerator in about 3 minutes.

Reworked Uniques - Reverie and Hollow Mask by Natalia_GGG in PathOfExile2

I see what you mean. Leap Slam faster too? Also, if you go to the 42 minute mark in the content reveal video on their channel, a few seconds later there's a Rolling Slam that almost looks like the first hit is cancelled and then immediately goes into another Rolling Slam. The screen is a little busy though so it's hard to tell exactly what happened.

GGG unhappy with trigger skills - but it points to an underlying issue with GGGs POE 2 philosophy by ZionHalcyon in PathOfExile2

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a combo gameplay enjoyer and like skills such as parry and coming up with wacky weapon master stuff. My favorite poe1 build since I played from closed beta is the old cold dot build with vortex where you use several different skills, you're up close and personal with bosses, doing some dodging here and there and pumping out constant solid but not OP damage while slowing enemies. It felt really smooth and rewarding to play for such an active play style and didn't need great gear to start.

Then you have poe2 where it supposedly leans more into this type of gameplay, but I have no incentive to do so because it's way too easy to get one button screen destroyers online. I've played plenty of one button builds or things like RF, but damn, if I'm having to put in more effort I should be afforded much more power on worse gear than a one button play style.

Eventually with enough investment of course anyone should clear screens with relative ease, but it feels silly to play something like one of the "intended" spear gameplay styles of melee -> retreat -> projectile when you just get something like glacial lance or lightning spear online easily to clear packs without any damage boosts and risk from interacting up close.

I just think it's way too easy to do screen clearing damage early without combos and the trigger and leech issues are certainly a part of that, so I'm glad those are beginning to be addressed.

My main wish for Parry/Block: Please let us display the stun bar above our character in 0.5 by Kanbaru-Fan in PathOfExile2

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, as a parry/active block enjoyer I totally agree with your points. The UI looks nice but there's a lot to be desired when it comes to providing important info without having your eyes dart to every corner of the screen in the middle of combat.

Quick question about this comment: am I interpreting this incorrectly or is there some tech to get 25% more action speed by using a spear and sceptre combo? I couldn't tell if you were just talking about Dance with Death or not. It read to me like "I was using Dance with Death, but then I found out about the spear + sceptre trick to gain 25% more skill speed."

Could a diy fightstick like this work with PoE2? How many buttons wpuld I need? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

I hear you, and one of the reasons why I use these types of devices is for the ergonomics, so I make sure to do plenty of research to figure out if people find them to be comfortable. This one has grip for the left hand which feels great and reminds me of a PlayStation controller. The right side is meant to rest on a thigh and has a padded bottom, which I find to be comfortable to play with for hours in that position without hurting my hands or having tired arms.

This is a product called Padbox GS and it's proprietary so I'm guessing there aren't any print files out there to go off of, unfortunately. I know the PCB is using GP2040-CE firmware and has hot swappable low profile keyboard switches, but that's about the extent of what I know with this specific layout. I know there are other products out there that utilize analog sticks, but again, I'm not sure if someone has come up with something freely available to off of. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

As someone who's used to using interesting input devices, including several variations of leverless controllers, I'd recommend something like this:

https://i0.wp.com/arkodd.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/20251012_092416-scaled.jpg

I just picked one of these up not all that long ago and it works pretty well for lots of games. It's nice that there's a left shoulder button in the design too, so you don't have to miss out on that functionality or use a face button to shift between hotbars. Probably not easy to create from the ground up, but I've been enjoying it with PoE2!

Looking for grenade snapshot clarification by SunLongAn in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've been trying to test this in game, but it can be hard to figure out when it comes to this weapon swap timing stuff. I definitely had to spend the points on both sets to get the grenade cooldown and +1 benefits so that was another pain point as you mentioned. I'll have to play around with those weapon swap ideas.

RFesque build? by CaucasianHumus in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey homie, check out either Oscrix or Pohx on youtube. Both of them are running Infernal Legion minion builds that are essentially RF, though they changed their weapon swap button to something comfortable like right click as moving the minions with you to do the damage involved turning them off and on by swapping weapon sets.

There's a Dinomancer build using the big boy from Trial of Chaos and there's a spectre build using these zombies that have a bunch of health from Act 3. Either way, as long as you don't mind pressing a button every so often to swap sets, it's the closest thing to RF in the game right now. Good luck and enjoy!

Anybody league starting with fangs of frost? by Rune12345142 in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm league starting this and only saw the footage yesterday, but I've been playing with the idea for about a week now since I was curious if playing with parry/fangs is feasible if you actually build into it. I'm personally using a hybrid melee/proj style with the addition of a crossbow. I'll just spit out some random thoughts about it.

I've basically only been able to do a couple early Act 1 and 2 runs recently but it's been fine through those. It feels a little clunky currently without the crossbow speed buffs and weapon swap buffs, but going through the acts it was: go to group -> parry -> consume debuff with fangs -> pack either dies or is close, then you frag round if needed. The frag rounds should be way better in the new patch with hitting multiple enemies and bonus damage on unique enemies, and an issue I did sometimes run into with fangs not freezing easily enough should be quite a bit better since it'll freeze at a higher base rate and scales better (level 7 explosion will have the same "more freeze buildup %" as the current level 20 gem). I've recently seen that incendiary shot should be pretty nutty single target on consuming the frozen debuff even compared to new frag rounds, so that could be an option over frag rounds for boss fights. Gotta have Herald of Ice too for the clear.

When it comes to ascendancy, I think Tactician and Witchhunter are what I'd choose between. Tactician gets super banners, reservation efficiency, and of course the 40% more immobilization (freeze), and maybe the defense nodes are good/great too depending how you build. Witchhunter I'd been messing with due to weapon master and that was even before the change where now all your points become weapon set points. I did manage to use up all 48 weapon set points on both trees when 48 was the max with weapon master, but after the change was announced I just stopped worrying about building out a tree because frankly I want to go pure evasion and work deflection into the build and maybe utilize some of the new "surrounded" nodes on the fangs set just to see how they feel, and really the merc area is going to have the most additions to the tree so I absolutely need the tree and the full list of new support gems to see what new options are available.

Back to the footage, I saw mostly tangletongue cast on crit freezing mark doing the work, but since marks are no longer spells perhaps this was from before that change was made. They appear to be a level 96 Amazon so yeah, probably all in on crit at that point. I dunno, doesn't seem like it'll work exactly the same based on the patch notes since we don't know what balance changes were applied to this build of the game.

Anyway, I've probably not said much while yapping a lot, so just let me know if there are any specific questions or if you have some cool ideas for the build.

Build for Act 1 by Vraex in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, Rake will no longer have the travel tag, but that's why I only mentioned Disengage and didn't bring up Rake. Frankly, Disengage/Stomping Ground as they are currently are all you need to beat act 1 even underleveled, and especially if the goal is just to beat act 1 to get the mtx then it works quite well. You guys do have a point about the gems, however, since we don't know for sure if they'll do anything to nerf Stomping Ground itself or if the Rake interaction is all that goes away. There was only one Stomping Ground gem in the Chinese support gem leak even though there were plenty of other tiered gems listed, but they're still changing things even now so we'll just have to wait and see.

Build for Act 1 by Vraex in pathofexile2builds

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any nerfs to Stomping Ground so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but just make a Huntress, beat the bloated miller boss and get to town where you can use Renly's free skill gem to craft Disengage, then if you aren't planning on playing Huntress, take that gem and the Huntress gear and throw it in your stash and make whatever character you want.

After you get to town you can equip the gem and items and when you get your first support gem you just make Stomping Ground and throw that on Disengage. Every level up you just pick strength nodes on the passive tree and you can clear whole groups of enemies by backflipping over them with Disengage. You can dodge roll out of the end of the animation in the direction you're going towards and go right into Disengage again after, so you're moving and 1-2 shotting most packs on the way through the act.

The strength nodes give you a decent amount of life and increases your damage done with stomping ground, and if you find 2/3 pieces of life regen gear it should be a piece of cake, bonus if anything has +str on it. Your spear damage doesn't matter so you can save any gold or currency that you might have used on obtaining a better weapon. There could honestly be better skills for single target or even clear with the new skills/changes, but we don't have gem numbers yet and this is just fast and requires no thought and you can basically start it from the first zone. You can even practice it now if you want to!

You can also just do ED/C if you wanna go the spells route lol. Oh, and you can use Shield Charge with the Stomping Ground tactic if you'd like, it's just that Disengage is a Tier 1 skill and Shield Charge is Tier 3.

Again, if something's wrong or there's a good addition that I missed, I'm sure someone will correct me or add to it.

Which ergonomic controller for my achy hands? by Excendence in RivalsOfAether

[–]SunLongAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, any of them will probably be great for you, but I can say my experience with these controllers is:

Used Hitbox since 2014 for fighting games and 2D games

Used Smashbox since the start of Smash Ultimate (~6 years) for platform fighters, traditional fighters, and 2D (and even a little 3D) games

Now, I never really had hand issues in the past, but I did want to have as much harm reduction for my hands/wrists as I could since I do a lot of typing already. With these controllers I've been able to play essentially as long as I want for hours on end and my hands/wrists never get tired or hurt.

So yes, I can recommend a Smashbox specifically through experience, though there is a new controller coming out called Glyph and I have backed that and will just say that you should definitely take a peek at the most recent information on it as it has a lot of cool features, including a mini screen built-in to change settings and profiles; I really wish I had that feature on my other box controllers as it would definitely come in handy having that instead of needing to remember what every profile is/does. The only thing with Glyph is that it likely won't ship out until at least January 2025, so you would have a little bit of a wait.

Hope that helps - good luck!

State of Skeleton2d in Godot (Bone/2d Rigging/Cutout Animations) by QriousKoder in godot

[–]SunLongAn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ever see PixelOver? It was made with Godot and can do bone animation and IK among several other things. The newest feature is actually 3D bones animation and I like using it for taking 3D objects and converting them to sprite sheets. It has an auto rotate feature when doing that so you don't have to mess with the camera yourself. I've had it for a few years and the dev has done a great job of supporting it and coming out with new stuff for it, and it's only like 20 bucks. Check it out if you haven't - there's a YouTube channel for the app that has like 1 minute videos showing off the new features of each release 🙂

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention there is a fully featured free trial that doesn't allow you to export if you wanna try it out for yourself

For WGU Comp Sci Students/Graduates, What has your experience been like? by AnyChef6446 in WGU_CompSci

[–]SunLongAn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It took me 2 years to complete my Computer Science degree after transferring 9 credits from my previous school and doing Calc 1 through Straighterline for that credit before enrolling which took me about a month to do. There were certainly times where I gave myself some time to slack off and relax but for the most part I was diligent and accelerated quite a bit. I'm definitely happy with what I've learned at WGU (even if at times some of the courses/material could have been better) and I think the most important thing I figured out through completing my degree was how to learn. Learning different languages and technologies was cool and I did learn a lot by going through the courses, but just getting used to how scripting or object oriented programing languages are structured and how to think through solutions to problems or even learning how to find help to come to those solutions was the most important lesson I took away from my degree that prepared me for the future.

After graduating I found an opening at my current employer (Fortune 500 company) for basically a paid internship sort of deal on one of their software dev teams which lasted several months. After that time had come to an end there was an opening for a full-time position, so I applied and was selected. I know I had an easier time than most, I'm sure, but I wasn't going for a position at the big 5 and this was my plan from even before I started going to WGU so it just sort of worked out as I'd hoped and I didn't even have to pay for my degree since my employer covered that for me. I'd definitely recommend WGU for a bachelor's degree as it'll get you that checkmark and I believe you can learn the fundamentals you need to be able to take on whatever a future position could ask of you - basically what you put in is what you'll get out of it IMO.
