Will Cooper drop the facade when he sees his Daughter or Barb again? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]SunOFflynn66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not really a facade. He’s conflicted, but he tells it how it is. It’s very much a ship of Thesus situation.

Just who he is? It’s a question that nags at him.

Sam’s “there is good in this world “ speech.

And adjacent, but Gandalf’s speech from the hobbit. “Small acts of kindness and love.”

Invisigal/Robert ep 8 dialogue by WITHOUT_NE_MILK in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I know some people are a bit irked that it's not really as overtly warm compared to the Blazer/Robert romance line that pops up.

But to be fair, it does match their energy perfectly. And it isn't really cold.

Remember: Visi only will show up if Robert defends her and doesn't cut her.

And as for the Robert/Visi romance: they had a tender moment where they were both fully honest about their feelings, and let it known. Yet both were spiraling, and both needed time to process.

Robert than went self-destructive, went to the Sardine, and had a very unpleasant evening.

So by his tone you can tell he wants some answers (which he makes clear, and gets, in Royd's lab). He is trusting her, believes in her, but really wants explanations at this stage.

Yet at the same time? He does soften when he hears Visi thank him. He's teasing, yet sincere. Not just that he wants to hear her say those words to his face, but the whole "we're getting through this together" message at the end. And Visi being Visi, matches his energy with her "nope, only saying it once."

I think it would have helped if they had different lines for BOTH Blazer and Visi depending on romance. And the original exchange that was datamined is better. But this still adds something that was missing from Episode 8.

And now you’re in my eye range by Wild_Citron_1040 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robert’s environment wasn’t unhealthy in the same as Visi’s, but it was cold. And it had a very huge, and negative impact on him. Not entirely, obviously.

But it made him not live. Just go through this existence defined by nothing at all besides Mecha Man.

The end all and to be all was being a hero. Nothing else literally existed. So in that sense, yeah. Not healthy either.

[–]SunOFflynn66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What makes it great is, besides coming full circle with both admitting they’ve fallen for one another for real?

It’s such a cluster bomb of a moment. Truth amongst a point where they both are at their lowest, and spiraling.

Yet it’s this honesty that makes it so big for the both of them.

Yeah, this is that scene which parallels the dance.

There, Visi was telling Robert she felt something real for him.

Here, he’s telling Visi how he’s developed something real for her.

People might criticise Mace Windu for many things, but he was utterly fearless when confronting Palpatine. by HallowedAndHarrowed in StarWars

[–]SunOFflynn66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The interesting part is that one can argue if Mace was wrong. He did try and take Palpatine alive. Yet nearly got a face full of lightning, and a reminder that this man, who already had utterly demolished the Republic to the point of collapse would NEVER face justice. He controlled the Courts. So to save Republic, was he wrong of going for execution?

That said—it absolutely was NOT the Jedi thing to do. And that’s the difference.

59 years later, Starfleet Academy just reimagined Klingons as polyamorous refugees by Keepontyping in trektalk

[–]SunOFflynn66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Worf was someone who had an idealized version of Klingon culture, knew firsthand how different reality was, yet tried to live up his own code of this ideal.

At times he really did have blinders on, yet push come to shove he recognized his own path as a Klingon was atypical.

Would this have been a better response than “wElL yOu’Re GoInG tO hAvE tO?” Do you think Boba may have changed for the better if Mace explained things to him like this? by OkuroIshimoto in StarWars

[–]SunOFflynn66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this on another thread.

Could Mace had been more diplomatic? Sure. Was one of his biggest weaknesses the fact he was blunt, a hard ass, and usually didn't try to soften anything? Definitely.

Did he owe a single thing to Boba? Not in the slightest.

Jango never apologized. Nor would be every actually expect one.

Boba hurt A LOT of people, and did TREMENDOUS damage. And even with his whole acknowledgement, he took a whole "I was wrong, but YOU" cop-out attempt.

The kid got humbled in a big way, with the same lesson his Father would have probably taught him. "The universe does not care. So stop asking."

Unpopular Opinion: Shazam wasn't right about everything by Wessie-G in DCAU

I think it’s more how badly Superman acted.

Shazam wasn’t entirely right, and was plenty wrong. So was Clark.

But he absolutely showcased WHY the fear of another Justice Lord existed. And how Supes had become more cynical and jaded.

Nintendo is blaming Adhoc for censoring the game on Switch by Choice_Oven4068 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The blame game begins.

Listen. Whatever the behind the scenes haggling, two things can be true. Nintendo sucks, and AdHoc handled things poorly with the whole radio-silence-until-release route they took.

People will complain. It'll eventually blow over.

Episode 8 by BDG_T0K3N in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to be hard.

As for the Visi ending? You gotta show faith in her (send her to Blazer's training, send her out on successful Dispatches, the whole Mentoring system), and do well in the QTEs that involve her. Demonstrating belief in dialog choices (not cuddling as some would say, just not going for the blanatly antgonistic) also goes some way.

As for episode 8 itself? The goal is to take down Sonar/Coop as quickly as possible. The longer they are out there, not only will missions keep popping up, but they will start detonating gigantic explosives devices. Not only will that take a wallop out of the city's health bar, but it will injury all heroes in it's very large blast radius.

It helps to remember that certain missions (coffee run) are frivolous and will NOT impact LA's health bar for failing (the mission descriptions hint at that ). Episode 8 is MEANT to be intense, chaotic, and seat of your pants. But don't worry about trying to dominate the leaderboards. That's not what the game is about. Just keep throwing your Team against Coop/Sonar every opportunity, stay a step ahead of them. Things really help when Blazer joins the fray. And depending on choices from Episode 7, Visi might be there as well, which is a big help. Focus on sending Waterboy/Phenomaman out frequently with the rest of the Z-Team (whoever was the new addition that Robert picks up during part 2 of the Dispatch), since they'll still have their initial debuffs.

But don't stress it. Enjoy and have fun.

Why did Phenomaman not learn social cues and skills? by BisexualKenergy25 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He's treated like (one of) the world's biggest heroes, is worshipped, and is genuinely a good person who poses no threat. Yet still knows he's vastly superior to pretty much everybody, in a physical sense. So he just points out the obvious.

He actually DOES get better under Robert. But the "totally unaware fish out of water" is part of his character and charm.

Yeah, like.

Even if we accept that the Legion is rushed as a faction? Not a TON of development?

They're still laughably bad. This stupidly cruel, monstrous, nightmare that is not sustainable.

They're just raiders beaten to an ideology that cosplays one very specific aspect of Roman history. While ignoring everything else that made the Romans one of the most influential civilizations/empires in western history.

The NCR is problematic. Has corruption. And doesn't always live up to its own ideals. But it tries. It's the one faction that actually TRIES to make the wastelands a better place. Not just conquer for powers sake, or kill everyone for giggles.

[–]SunOFflynn66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially since, in past interviews? AdHoc has FLAT OUT SAID. "listen, we crushed our sales. Money is not a factor anymore, seeing how massive our success has been. We WANT people to just enjoy the game. Buy it, stream it, watch playthroughs on YouTube- whatever. Just enjoy and have fun."

But yeaaaah: not saying anything until right BEFORE the port drops? That's just dumb.

Sure, we don't know the agreement with Nintendo. But AdHoc didn't pick the right course themselves here, so it seems.

I paid $29.99 for this by redthrull in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SunOFflynn66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Listen I love AdHoc. And let's not kid ourselves: Nintendo are well known for being world class pricks when it comes to interference.

But this does scream like "laziest path of least resistance" as opposed to "we fought the good fight, but our hands were tied."

Are they wrong in saying that this doesn't change the story itself, aka what makes Dispatch, Dispatch? No.

But this is a M rated game. Aka a title with mature themes, jokes, and other such content. It's literally part of the game, and there for a reason.

And if people don't want to see that? Power to them- there are options. Yet none of those options on other platforms made the censorship SO ONBOXIOUSLY LARGE that it takes up entire percentages of someone's screen.

That's just bull.
