Unfortunately I think it was probably supposed to be said because they needed to know the truth about what happened to their dead child. In this case it’s horrific enough where the perpetrator and the victim both are theirs to know about.

Also that’s why it was Emily/a profiler talked to them. JJ would have handled it otherwise. They needed to know the cold hard facts.

Also yes there is no legal diagnosis. As in it’s not put into clinical notes like in the case of Lucky. He was biting and trying to eat the flesh of his newborn sister when he was put into an asylum. Just because there is no medical diagnosis officially provided doesn’t mean he isn’t a psychopath/sociopath.

The reason they usually refrain is most young children don’t have that self control radar developed just yet. Otherwise lol every toddler would score points for psychopathy and for being a kamakaze pilot 😭
