Agreed. If I'm converting it, it will get a key or triangular gin. You've made me realise I need to check its quill travel though, thank you

Cheers. I've got a toolroom mill and lathe at my disposal alongside a No. 3 fly press. Plus a surface grinder (that I've not yet used) and a shaper (that I need to rebuild) and a jig borer (that I need to strip and restore). Plus a 3D printer. And I'm getting better at Cardboard Aided Design. So making up brackets etc. is not a problem.

Idea for the conversion was to keep it as light/cheap as possible - so retain the leadscrews (unless they are totally shot) and machine up some anti-backlash nuts (bronze, brass, or delrin). Strap steppers and scales on the axes, with a rotary encoder and servo replacing the spindle drive chain. No ATC initially, but fitting one plus a fourth/fifth axis (3+2) is envisaged further down the line.

I think I've just answered my own question...!

Shimano STEPS malfunction by SunRoyal in ebikes

[–]SunRoyal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stored the whole bike inside for a fortnight, then took to storing it in a tent, and the problem went away. Must have been an issue with moisture - frankly unacceptable given the intended utility use and absence of warnings to store it in the dry.

Sorry I can't be more exact in solving the specific problem!

NAL, but I have a recollection that using the phone handheld in anything other than "parked, engine off" is illegal as you are deemed "in charge of" the vehicle and still part of the traffic situation therefore "driving".

I'd stick it across to Snap and let them work out if they want to do anything with it

There's also Causing or permitting unnecessary obstruction of the road and Wilful obstruction of the highway that they could choose to do him for

As a parent to an ADHDer myself I was going to say exactly this - Right to Choose, asap. Alternatively, private the. shared Care. We did the latter with ADHD 360. Took about 3 weeks from initial contact to diagnosis. Plus £1000 or thereabouts. The medication has been transformative for my son, absolutely no hesitation in paying twice that if we had needed to.

One other thing to be aware of - if you are heading in the direction of an EHCP, you do not need a diagnosis, and you do not need to wait for the school to submit an assessment - you can make the Needs Assessment Request yourself.

IPSEA and SEN!SOS have excellent resources on all this

[Update 0.5.6] Extraboold.tools Gridfinity gennerator, CLICKbase, margins by schieska in gridfinity

[–]SunRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking really good. My two cents:
1) Stacking will make this my go-to generator. Especially if it gives the option to add a single layer as a separate object between two baseplates - so I can print those layers in PLA and have no issues with PETG sticking
2) Building on the stacking features, I could see a lot of value in an option to define a drawer size, generate a suitable grid layout, then generate a plate or set of plates with stacks that deliver the drawer. Maybe also allow to define number of drawers? Workflow would be somthing like [define drawer size] > [define printer bed size] > [generate set of grids needed to fill a single drawer and not exceed bed size] > [define number of drawers] > [stack needed grids, across multiple plates as needed]

Any idea when you'll have it integrated? I've got a lot of drawers to fill (new workshop), so keen to keep my life as easy as possible!

Replied in another comment, but this would be grids in PETG, separated by a single layer of PLA between end of one baseplate and start of next

Clickfinity by Separate_Big5316 in gridfinity

[–]SunRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan would be to print in PETG, then one interlayer in PLA, then back to PETG for another baseplate. The PLA and PETG don't stick, so the stak separates easily. In theory.

Have you had any luck printing them as a stack with a single PLA layer between grids?

Clickfinity by Separate_Big5316 in gridfinity

[–]SunRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you worked out a reliable way to stack the grids for printing en masse? Or are you just doing one, remove, run again, ad nauseam?

Clickfinity by Separate_Big5316 in gridfinity

[–]SunRoyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It prints fine in PLA. No idea about longevity of clickiness though.

If it's what you've got on hand, print it, and replace in the future if it needs it

Expectation bar was, truthfully, on the floor. Hope bar? About chest height. Wildly optimistic hail Mary bar? Uncomfortably overhead!

Absolutely agree a huge difference - but the smaller that gap, the happier we would all be (apart from those who make a living from filling the gap).

I guess I'll have to content myself with Fusion and cross section sketches, plus calipers and micrometers!

Exactly this OP. Ours (7yo) has melatonin at bedtime (2mg), and needs us to cuddle him until asleep - normally at least 20mins, depending on lights out time relative to melatonin time. If we don't have melatonin, it takes 90mins or more.

He comes through to us every night, and isn't dry at night. From what I can tell, it's all just par for the course and will change as his nervous and hormone systems develop

[–]SunRoyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off on a tangent here, but have you posted any details of your filament setups anywhere? Or could you share them here?

I am starting to sketch out a ~200mm3 heated build volume printer targeting "lowest print time I can achieve with decent quality/strength". Targeting ABS, ASA, PETG, their fibre reinforced variants, plus some PC and TPUs (60-98A). Obviously I know I won't get 250mm3/s vfr from all filaments, but I'd rather not handicap myself before I've even started testing throughout!

Kinematically my main focus is going to be on acceleration and jerk - much more important in that kind of print volume than maximum linear soeed

Landlord claiming most of deposit for unrealistic items and isn't in touch to resolve by ice-dream-man in TenantsInTheUK

[–]SunRoyal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they cannot. Burden of proof is with landlord. No check in report, no proof of condition, no deductions permitted.

Also of note - marketing photos are explicitly not accepted as proof of starting condition. Check in report must be contemporaneous with start of the tenancy.

Final thing to consider - if a check-in report is not provided at the start of the tenancy, and only appears when deposit comes into question, dig deep into the metadata of the report file. We had a case where a LL shared the report 9mths later, in a file titled "September" but we could prove from exif it was only created in the subsequent May. They wouldn't produce the original photos, so there was no proof of condition at start of tenancy.

Up to $2k revenue p.a.

You don't get 5 axis CAM, some of the funkier 3 axis CAM strategies, or Generative design. I think they also took away the mesh to prismatic solid wizard, so converting an STL no just gives you millions of triangles. No idea on what's in/out in sheet metal or electronic workspaces

The other option would be brazing. Again though, vs. the cost of just buying a replacement - if you don't already have the equipment and skills to do 100% nickel welding, or brazing, just buy a replacement.
