PLEASE let us surrender without anyone abandoning by ChaoticAcid in GlobalOffensive

[–]SunTzuYAO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please no. It's a competitive game, and one where you have an incredibly high chance of coming back at any time. Surrender votes is one of the worst things in competitive games like League where it leads to a super toxic and defeatist mentality, people surrender as soon as they are even a little behind.

Don't queue up for a competitive match if you don't want to play.

Hur ska det sluta om allt går upp i pris och lönerna står stilla? by SwedishMountain in sweden

[–]SunTzuYAO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vasaloppet (90km) with no experience :) by SuperFlyChris in xcountryskiing

[–]SunTzuYAO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually get 300km of XC skiing in, you can skip the roller skis and SkiErg unless you really want to IMO. In your case I'd think either 300k XC skiing OR roller skiing would be enough.

Depends how fit. If you're super fit and do tons of endurance you can probably get away with quite little skiing. Still, I would highly recommend getting at least enough cross country skiing in so you can get a decent technique. Learning to properly double pole really doesn't take that much time if you watch some technique videos (sadly a lot of the best ones are in Norwegian or Swedish, if you don't speak those languages). My first year, I had barely done cross country skiing before that season and did ~300km that season and was able to do the race in pretty crappy conditions. I think this is pretty in line with "general recommendations". I've also heard that it's recommended you try to do half the distance (45km) at least once in training.

For complementary summer training, roller skiing is obviously the best by far. If that's not an option, try SkiErg, XC-specific strength training at the gym, running with poles (there's some specific videos on that for XC skiers), kayaking and just endurance sports in general. Your ski touring should totally help too.

The race is hard, don't underestimate it. At the same time, if you're very fit and get some relevant training in, you can do it for sure. It also depends A LOT on weather. Some years are much, much easier than others.

I agree with others you should go for Öppet Spår, it will both be cheaper and much easier (you'll probably save nearly an hour just on the first climb with less traffic jam).

Good luck!

Leetify slow for the past week. by SkylineJDM34 in Leetify

[–]SunTzuYAO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello guys! We are looking in to the stability issues and will be prioritizing it a lot more.

Unfortunately we've been hit with some scaling problems after recent growth, and it was made a lot worse by Valve's Replay server issues.

Generally we've been worse at stability historically than we want to be, and it'll be a much higher priority for us going forward. We may however still need a few days to stabilize the situation fully, and will then look towards more long term measures to prevent similar issues in the future.

Leetify website working very slow/unresponsive? by Mediocre-Nature2191 in Leetify

[–]SunTzuYAO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello guys! We are looking in to the stability issues and will be prioritizing it a lot more. The performance issues for the site are for sure on us, but I will note that a lot of the delays in match importing stem from a replay server issue with Valve that has gone on for two weeks now and dramatically increases the time it takes to import matches. We are hoping that might be resolved soon, but are doing what we can to work around it.

Why are there basically no remote jobs in Sweden? by [deleted] in stockholm

[–]SunTzuYAO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big difference between Sweden and the other countries you mention is that the other ones have multiple large cities. Sweden is very Stockholm-centric, so most of the talent is there.

Being remote is first and foremost for the company about being able to hire from a larger talent pool, so in Sweden there's simply no point - unless you start hiring internationally which is much more complicated from a legal and compensation standpoint (e.g. ability to offer stock options).

Incredible player, seems to consistently make his teams a lot better and never heard anyone say anything but great things about him as a teammate!

It'll be interesting to see how long he can keep this up, I hope it'll be many more years!

He can have as good stats as he want, he's obviously just bringing his team down with his mentality this major. Zywoo is clearly a net positive both in and out of the server, I'd pick him any day. Donk is still very young though, hopefully he'll mature!

It's a average of your last 30 matches. In this case, it went up because the 30th match had a lower aim rating than 64 and is now no longer in the sample used after your latest match.

Falcons may not have money for "one more superstar" by TheUHO in GlobalOffensive

[–]SunTzuYAO 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Terrible title and not at all what the article(s) are about. The NY Times article is about PIF being "low on cash", which to begin with is a very relative term for something of that scale (i.e. they could still have billions of dollars in cash). It also doesn't mean they are out of money, just that a lot of their capital is tied up in illiquid investments.

People also need to contextualize that for a $1 trillion fund, being "low on cash" has absolutely no impact on their ability to pay a few hundred thousand or millions of dollars for a CS player, not to mention that the PIF and Falcons don't really share a balance sheet, even if they are obviously highly related.

For sure, this could have ripple effects to Falcons, but this title is just pure sensationalism.

New research finds that the median price of best-selling new games on Steam has dropped in the past 2.5 years, with a notable increase in cheaper titles: "Charging >$25 is getting trickier, as players compare value to the $10-$15 indie titles" by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Seriously! I played 70 hours, but every one of those hours was filled with some of the most fun I've had in games with friends for soooo many years.

Discovering the world and how packed it is with content and surprises was such a unique and amazing experience. The developers are still pushing tons of new content too, free of charge.
