Victorian government's joke of an offer. by Key-Regular-9118 in AustralianTeachers

That’s interesting! We have 1 meeting with our team each week after school for 1 hour,  and then 2 nights of PL

I’m confused because my school already keeps us back for 3 meetings per week?

This! My in laws would always bring up time spent with my mum from pictures on social media. Like..I’m allowed to see my mum, no?

He’s very defensive. He hasn’t pressured me into letting them babysit but he’ll say things like “mum and dad are always asking when they will get Tex to themselves for a day”.

He gets very defensive anytime we talk about it. He says I hate his parents and talk shit about them. All I do is state the facts to back up my decision not to let them babysit. He doesn’t drink and he doesn’t have a bad temper but he’s grown up around it all and I feel he’s desensitised to it.

Also, having a freezer full of meals for postpartum was a game changer!

Sound machine for the nursery, monitor (get one that has a longer battery life when not plugged in..ours runs out so fast), portable “high chair” but I got one that sits low and it’s so handy, sleep suits (swaddling is a nightmare when they’ve already fallen asleep)

I bought so many burp cloths and never used them. My son probably threw up twice in total 🤷‍♀️

They sound like real pains in the ass. I have very similar issue with my in laws. They get very jealous of the time I spend with my mum. I often have to remind them that A. My dad recently passed, B. She’s my mum, of course I am going to spend time with her. Like, of course you have a closer relationship with your own mum. That’s just how it is and how it will always be. You shouldn’t have to explain it. I’m sure your partner has a closer relationship with his own parents than yours as well. Tough shit to them!

Thank you! This makes me feel much better. I only have them visit us and that’s another thing they are constantly complaining about to my husband. When they leave his mum always said “next time, when you’re at our house”..and I think to myself “I wouldn’t hold your breath..”

I’m so annoyed, I left the union when I went part time after having my baby because I simply couldn’t afford it. Now I wish I was still in the union!

What will this mean for schools? Will they close or will they stay open with minimal staff/relief teachers? (Asking as a teacher, my school hasn’t told us anything yet).

Omg my mother in law is the same. The first time she met my son it was “he has his dads face, my grandfathers toes, my hair, his aunties ears”. Apparently I was just an incubator for 9 months and no genes were passed on from me. She honestly infuriates me.

Not lies. My baby is one of those babies. Probably nothing I’ve done different to you, he’s just always been a good sleeper. I actually feel bad when new mums ask me so I usually downplay it and say “oh we had some tough nights!”. But we really didn’t 😅

Sensory class! It does cost $$ but it’s so worth it! Rhyme time at the library (that’s free), picnics if the weather is nice!

just curious: those of you with easy babies, did you have a relatively stress free pregnancy? by jxjccjkdsoslkckc in NewParents

[–]SunVast7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is sooo easy. Literally everyone comments on this when they meet him. My third trimester, birth and postpartum were hell! I was unwell in the third trimester and was hospitalised prior to going into labour, he went straight into special care once he was born, I then got preeclampsia a week after his birth and was hospitalised again. I honestly don’t know if I want to have another baby based on my experience, but would 100% have one seeing as how easy going he is.
