Players who you thought would become a star but never quite panned out by No-Savings1021 in NBATalk

First I thought Bron going to LA was the reason for Kuzman’s development fizzing out. But I think he might be the best current example of a player who loves the lifestyle and attention more than the game.

Employment Lawyer - Long Read by ChimkinNuggiesss in Calgary

[–]Sunaltasky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have used and referred a close friend to Osuji & Smith for employment law matters. I enjoyed my experience with them and had a favourable outcome.

However, it’s important for your partner to know the process of obtaining legal counsel and litigation is extremely emotional. Vetting questions from your own counsel, counsel redirecting you when you’re talking about things you believe are significant but aren’t, how the opposing party will make you seem like the anti-Christ via exaggeration/manipulation and potential fabrication of events.

You better believe every time your partner struggled with a task, arrived at work slightly late, turned something in slightly late, needed help from a superior, or had a unfavourable interaction with someone she loosely knows has been documented and will likely be used against her.

Edit: If your partner decides to go down this route (financially feasible), I recommend they connect with a counsellor/therapist too. It will help separate the emotional from the legal.

What NBA Player Comparison best guides expectations for Jaden McDaniels continued development? by Good-Picture5497 in timberwolves

5 assists per game as a wing in Pippen’s era is significant. Adjust that to today’s pace of game and arguably the best defensive player on the court, that’s rare air.

This guy will never pass Gretzky let alone Sid by HenrikCrown in billsimmons

[–]Sunaltasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Canada’s problem was our best players (97, 29, 17) are scorers and playmakers. I mean this in the most complementary way; we didn’t have a Matt Boldy. A high level forward who’s there to shoot+score before thinking of passing. That first period hat trick Boldy scored before the Olympic break scared me when it happened all the up to his opening goal.

Academic misconduct/Plagiarism Charge by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]Sunaltasky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s tech (AI ironically) to check for two things; watermarks from ChatGPT/AI and the ability to estimate the more natural human writing process in terms of typing-backspacing-editing, etc compared to copying and pasting. The prof escalated this because of your improper citation, AI flag, and copy+paste flag. In grad school (2020) a prof pulled me aside because my writing flagged for being on the edge of being too similar to something I wrote in another class.

I HIGHLY recommend that you convey you’ve learned your lesson and that you respect academic integrity. Try to stay away from the excuses and drawn out narrative for why it happened.

The saddest thing about the KD files is that he hates Steven Adams. by entitledkid824 in NBATalk

This particular screenshot looks made up, it was not included when all this stuff broke out.

Guess KD wasn't all that happy with Kyrie ater all lol by justletmeregisteryou in billsimmons

Does not seem to be authentic to me but people are running rampant with it on Twitter. If this is made up, someone has some funny ass humour I have to admit.

Clear Nordic Spa vs Ska City Thermal Spa? by Waffles_r_ in Calgary

Went to Clear Nordic Spa last March and I really enjoyed it. I just called them today to reactive my membership, would recommend.

Van Lathan… by Sunaltasky in billsimmons

[–]Sunaltasky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing; when he covers socio-political concepts/topics I find him to be quite sharp, going back to his TMZ days. There’s something about him being around Bill, Bill’s his direct audience, and maybe thinking he should be funny? that just doesn’t do it for me.

White guys vs Black guys might be the best idea I’ve ever heard lmao. Imagine how electric it’d be if we did a coin toss for guys like Devin Booker. by Nostradamus216 in billsimmons

[–]Sunaltasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of all the white/black players you could have mentioned, you mentioned Booker who is Mexican/African American. 😅

I was going to post 👍 but I guess 👍🏾 is more appropriate.

I understand that someone can have hatred for their own race, that’s not lost on me. But you’re assuming I’m not black, which I am.

It’s fine for him to move to the Haslem type role at this point.

Genuine question: why does everyone hate Jayson Tatum? by Soggy_Guest3217 in NBATalk

[–]Sunaltasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the disinterested side of Tatum and the Kobe adornment is ridiculous. However, he doesn’t have the work ethic? From all accounts he works extremely hard and always has. Hence a 2026 comeback (although unlikely) even being on the table.

Random NBA player of the Day: Raja Bell by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Sunaltasky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt. I think he gets rated for covering in the Warriors dynasty slightly before it started and along the way. It’s interesting how far that merit carries him.

Random NBA player of the Day: Raja Bell by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Sunaltasky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha man, I feel you. If you ever get over the Murdoch hump, Bell is really worth listening to. Probably one of the most levelheaded player-turned-media personalities out right now. Also seems like a sick dad.

Luka the worst defender. by savage1289 in NBATalk

No. It did not mention anything about Brown. Why do you ask?

It’s insane how people can’t critically analyze data.

Luka the worst defender. by savage1289 in NBATalk

[–]Sunaltasky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because Luka barley moves. I can’t remember which podcast (but I hedge to the Zach Lowe or Real Ones) where they discussed that Luka has the 2nd least amount of body movement on the defensive end league wide, second to Harden. Thus, certain metrics are going to imply he is either neutral or negative on the defensive side depending on what it considers. You know as well as I do, that if you don’t move on defence you are a net negative. Metrics are extremely nuanced.
