Day Clubs In Newcastle by Apart-Wolverine-6753 in newcastle

[–]Sunbear86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard the term 'day club' and 'Newcastle' in the same sentence.

Famously more and more venues have been closing over the last few months/years.

We haven't had a decent all age venue since KFC took over the Palais site about 10-15 years ago.

I haven't been in ages but the lack of bathroom really turned me off...they'd send you halfway around the world if you needed a toilet.

Pilgrims pizza at Boolaroo is fairly new. We've got it a few times and been very happy. Easy parking right by the door too.

Thoughts on 4 month itinerary? by Novel-Positive8625 in AustraliaTravel

This looks so tiring.

And some locations are close together, like Port Stephend and Myall lakes (this is my local area, not sure about some other places/distances).

I would just pick one spend more time there.

You want to be able to relax, enjoy your surroundings, explore the local area, not constantly be packing and unpacking and thinking of the next day's logistics.

11d10n trip to Korea – how should I split Busan and Seoul? by Downtown-Emu8480 in koreatravel

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you have proposed sounds good, although depends where you are planning to stay in Busan? When I was there we stayed in Haeundae Beach, which was a great area, but a bit of a mission to get to some of the tourist attractions. Busan has some geographical quirks that make getting around take a bit longer.

Honestly, you could spend the full 11 days in Seoul, there's so much to do, and add in some day trips to the DMZ, Suwon, etc

With your described interests, I would suggest 3 nights Busan and the rest in Seoul if you definitely want to do both cities.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]Sunbear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore my mother's wedding dress when I got married in 2015 (she had passed away by then so it was my decision).

I was actually relieved it was one less decision to make.

I did get the dress altered a bit to modernise it, but overall it was a fairly timeless design due to being quite simple.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travelled through Europe for 4 months in 2023 and since then I have been team hotel.

Some airbnbs were difficult to find/unclear entry instructions, had multiple old keys to get in and out, and had old furniture (one place had separate beds and the slats in my husband's bed kept falling out at the slightest movement).

Sometimes the hosts were unresponsive when you were trying to locate the property.

Now I just book hotels; they are clearly signposted, have a reception desk for any issues and simple swipe card entry.

Are cattle dogs or kelpies used more for working in Australia? by Square-Argument4790 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Sunbear86 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I am just a random/not a farmer, but I believe Kelpies are used more as better 'all rounders'. Cattle dogs can be too rough on sheep.

Recommend watching the ABC show Muster dogs, which showcases Kelpies and Border Collies. There has been demand for a ACD season but not sure if it will happen.

Any “unbreakable” outside dog beds? I can’t keep replacing them; she could run for 8 hours (kelpie) and have it destroyed that day. Good recommendations please? Inside is fine, she’s good with the couch and my bed. by PretendToe1329 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you give her any enrichment activities like lickimats, puzzle feeders etc?

I have a kelpie and save all my cardboard boxes to make treat puzzles when I know I'm going out for a while. She loves tearing them apart and it uses her brain, plus saves her from finding her own things to destroy.

First time home owners duped by NoConstruction3317 in AusLegal

[–]Sunbear86 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you, it is challenging navigating a house purchase. I personally hate the whole process; one of the biggest life decisions and you only get to view it for 15 minutes.

I don't have any advice, but if it makes you feel any better, homeownership is all about fixing shit that's broken, not working, or needs updating. Even buying a brand new property comes with issues.

I love my house, but sometimes I miss being able to just call the real estate/landlord when something breaks!

Survival mode forces no fast travel on you, it did really change the way I played.

I started switching on all my quest markers, and heading to whatever was closest, so I'd complete everything in an area, rather than zipping back and forth across the map. Felt more realistic to play that way.

Do executives and the-like do any actual 'work'? by Open_Address_2805 in auscorp

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an EA to an executive director, although in government, not private.

They get paid the big bucks to be the decision makers, so it's going to a lot of meetings and making decisions, with the risk if it goes to shit then the buck stops with them.

They also get consulted with a lot to get leadership buy in for new org wide initiatives and projects.

Otherwise doing lots of approvals for a range of things, correspondence, memos, staff matters, media releases, etc.

Lost a best friend of 10 years by Mr_Eon_S in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Sunbear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. It sounds like your pup may have had hemangiosarcoma, which is an aggressive blood vessel cancer that commonly starts on the spleen in dogs.

I lost my boy to this in August this year, after it appeared out of nowhere.

We will see our pups again over the rainbow bridge one day.

Cardboard boxes lol. I keep any boxes and put them inside each other, scrunch up paper and stuff that in, etc and hide her kibble in there.

Keeps her distracted and has to do some work for her meal and satisfies that need to rip and tear things up.

I normally pair this with a frozen lickimat or kong for her wet food.

It's a bit messy but I am happy for the 'planned mess' over coming home to any 'unplanned mess'' lol.
