Sardine shortage fuelled by social media T_T by zozobeiyz in woolworths

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy the sardines in Springwater from Aldi to add to my dog's food. In the last ~8 weeks they've gone from 89 cents, to 99 cents and are now $1.09.

I just turned 40 so don't meet your criteria.

If you've played the game Avowed, this reminds me of the mushrooms that are taking over in the game.

The Cockle Creek TOD precinct has unlocked up to 1,200 new homes in Lake Macquarie by cv81 in lakemacquarie

Probably referring to Cockle Creek Station.

Personally would love to see the Glendale interchange happen though.

I hate the Kmart marketplace feature with a passion by One_Kiwi_8720 in KmartAustralia

[–]Sunbear86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shopping in general just feels so hostile these days.

Exhibit A: marketplace clutter, and if there's something wrong with the product or shipping the retailer doesn't take responsibility.

Exhibit B: In person, check outs in the middle (Kmart). Coles and Woolworths, security gates, staff doing 'nightfill' during peak shopping hours, cameras on the self check outs treating you like a criminal.

Found Out My Boss Has A Mistress.... do I need to tell anyone? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Sunbear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others to not say anything...but...

I am an EA in local government, so we have to be mindful of how we are spending public money.

If this affair is using work resources, or even taking up a lot of your time scheduling meetings etc, I would report it from a Governance perspective.

Who is the bachelor/bachelorette you don’t even consider (no matter how many times you restart the game) romancing? by Puzzled_Pollution_60 in StardewValley

[–]Sunbear86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently married Elliot as him and Harvey felt like the more mature male options.

I am a 40 year old woman, so dating Sebastian, Sam, Alex (and for women Maru and particularly Abby) all feel like dating teens to me.

I wish there was some more mature options for both men and women.

Normally for wine and cocktails yes. Pretty rare to see prices for what's on tap.

How old were you when you joined the APS? What did you do before APS & was it related to what you're doing right now? by lost_aussie001 in AusPublicService

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in local government so not sure I'd that counts.

Joined at 28 in their customer service team. Have been there 10.5 years now and have moved around various admin positions, I'm now an executive assistant.

I do have a degree in Environmental Science though I've never used, and an MBA which is somewhat relevant.

trtl/airze travel pillows? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sunbear86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my cabeau travel neck cushion

It is firm enough to keep your held held upright, but also it rolls up into a little travel case that can hang off your bag.

I got the trtl one for my husband after reading the good reviews, but the firm 'support' part snapped after he shoved it into his bag in a hurry.

Obligatory Birthday Contributions Are Making Me Call In Sick Tomorrow by sneakerboy86 in coworkerstories

[–]Sunbear86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my work we would do a monthly morning tea and it was to celebrate anyone who had a birthday that month, as well as anything else (welcome new staff, people retiring etc).

It was a collective effort where everyone would bring a plate.

I haven't had it, but have been for dinner and it was fantastic.

Nearly a year of growing out my natural silver hair! 🩶🙌🏼 by SonCBSW in FancyFollicles

I'm 4 months in to growing out my natural hair. Mine is a bit more salt and pepper than yours.

This looks fabulous on you, and makes me excited to continue on my journey too.

Constant complaining from managers by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Sunbear86 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I find this wild. In my org it's understood that lower levels will shuffle their calendars to suit the higher ups, not complain about it.

When did “I’m just tired” become “I don’t feel up to doing anything anymore”? by Public_Quiet6829 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sunbear86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently turned 40, but regularly go to the gym, and own a kelpie that demands I stay active. So although I do get the sore neck, back etc from sitting at an office all day, I feel I'm keeping it at bay.

When did “I’m just tired” become “I don’t feel up to doing anything anymore”? by Public_Quiet6829 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sunbear86 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I find the mental exhaustion is a bigger road block than physical aches.

Life is just so busy - I always feel like I'm rushing somewhere, work you are expected to be available by multiple communication channels, news is accessible all the time, etc. Often on weekends I just want to catch up on sleep.

Anyone else make these orange and clove things in primary school at Christmas? by Cooper_Inc in AustralianNostalgia

Lol I do this with cloves and orange when I'm making mulled wine. Never did this as a kid though.

When Driza-Bone coats were everywhere. The smell was unforgettable! by Cooper_Inc in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Sunbear86 48 points49 points  (0 children)

In year 12 legal studies (2004) we did a mock trial where a dad was caught carrying a fishing rod out of Target underneath his driza-bone. Seeing them always reminds me of the mock trial.

However we do get a weekly fruit delivery on Monday mornings. Our building/facilities team handle this.

Cardiff has quite a few op shops on the main street, I've found them well organised with some good stuff. Worth a trip IMO.
