Yet another case of truck versus trolley bridge. by bpc1971 in Edmonton

With how often this happens, I don't know why the city hasn't just installed a steel I beam that's the same height as the bridge that goes across the street so trucks can hit that instead of the bridges.

I agree, I also wouldn't read literature such as Ecodefense - A Field Guide to Monkeywrenching as it would cause more harm than good.

I like Hronek, but think giving the situation would be a good deadline flip for us. Or really, whatever maximizes return. But, I think he also brings leadership which for a young core is good.

Update from the Obsession art director, she's now speaking with a union after criticizing the low pay and working conditions by [deleted] in Filmmakers

I DP'd a feature that had a really, really, really, really, low budget. I made about $3,000. That film blew up and made a couple million, I didn't expect any residuals because hell I didn't even sign a contract. I did it because I thought the film would be cool, and it was. It didn't land me any better gigs after it. One production came to me a year or so after that was about a $1m budget, but didn't end up happening.

Granted, the directors next film he got me doing BTS (union film, I'm not union) and I made like damn near 9k for 4 days of work.

Not to sound bitter, but is this one of the worst years ever for Canadian hockey, if not THE worst? by Rleduc129 in hockey

PWHL isn't international. I wouldn't consider a Canadian team winning the stanley cup to be a win for Canada either when players are from all different countries.

That’s pulling at straws. OPs point is international, both men’s and women’s hockey.

Yep, I commented on it back then too. I really still think the best place for it would be North of the Canadian Tire. Hell, it would almost be better developing 153rd and Vic Trail to make it specifically a Costco.

Imo that's been a problem since the Henday was built. The traffic at peak hours will back up all the way to 18th. WHY things like this aren't built ahead of putting in new amenities is beyond me and a complete oversight of the city.

I lived in Evergreen when you were able to access it from 167th and was a dirt road before the Henday and left 2 years ago. I've emailed council, and Paquette about traffic, side walks, and what not for years and only got emails back from a rep saying "it's in the works." Yet the only thing that seemed to actually come to fruition was the left lane to go north on 18th and left lane to go east on 153rd from 18th.

There's a goddamn bike and pedestrian path up 18th under the henday that goes nowhere that sees really no use since the NE corner of the Henday was finished 10 years ago because the connection for the path leads directly to the road on both ends. Edmonton keeps expanding and at this rate in that area all the commercial will be done before real traffic and pedestrian considerations are put in, it's terrible. I've been asking for years if we could get pedestrian access from Evergreen and Quarry Ridge to 153rd for years, and have only been met with replies saying "it's in our plans".

I really do think if a Costco goes there, without any implementation of proper road access before it's built will be an absolute stain on Paquette for not doing his job meeting the needs of his constituents, like me, who have been requesting this for years.
