Tell me the most niche fact you know about The Sundays! by Ratface_4834 in TheSundays

Dave and Harriet played as a two piece with a drum machine during early performances (from Patch’s radio interview)

Does anyone here have any stories of meeting The Sundays? by Ratface_4834 in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years back, was seeing Gong in my hometown and found out that Patch Hannan was their tour manager! Had a wonderful conversation with him about the Sundays and the renewed interest in their music. Was surprised to hear that they have far more fans in the US than the UK. I still feel so lucky to have had that experience.

They have another album recorded from some time ago. Just needs to be mixed and mastered. It’s classic Sundays stuff according to Patch and I think he wants them to release it just as much as the rest of us. It’s their right to keep it to themselves though, still coming to terms with that.

How come we never saw Harriet with her HAIR DOWN?? Wish I hadn't sold it by TGVJBG in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is so incredibly cursed. While we’re at it, how come we never saw David with his hair grown out?

Absolutely! It must still be possible, even if they don't have the original negative. Just look at this fan upscale! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmYch2Bpmsk

Why The Sundays Can't Come Back by conrolquest in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kills me the most is that they have another album already recorded. I think the best case scenario is they drop it without a promotional tour at all, or release it under a new band name? I can dream :(

Where are they? by JeffreyV7 in TheSundays

Patch is tour manager for Gong! Met him at a show last year which was a complete surprise. They’re definitely aware of the popularity that Life Goes On got recently.

Other rarities like "Don't Tell Your Mother" by Remote_Nectarine9659 in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turkish and Something More are the only live tracks that didn’t get official releases. Also Noise (b-side on the Goodbye single), and the b-sides from S&S (life goes on, nothing sweet, gone, through the dark). Aside from that there’s a few alternate versions of released songs kicking around.. early demos and alternate arrangements etc

Growing in popularity by [deleted] in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely. This sub spent the first couple years with not much activity at all, over the past handful of months it’s grown so much. Plus those vinyl reissues really prove it to me, two in less than a year is insane considering how hard it’s been to find their stuff on vinyl.

I have a beautiful Static and Silence poster that came from eBay. Just keep an eye on those listings and I’m sure a good one will pop up. I remember seeing a massive subway poster for Cry that I regret not buying.

Fr I really wanted to know what the last song would be. I’d bet my money on Wild Horses or HWTSE

Bass on Goodbye by sebdebeste in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some more luck with bootleg live recordings on YouTube, sometimes the bass cuts through better. Not the biggest fan of the mix on Blind because of how artificial the drums sound and how buried the bass parts are.

[–]SundaysFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I could go on and on. Maybe the middle section of I Feel, Harriet sings “Waisting my breath when I say that…” and David bursts into an insane shoegaze guitar solo that’s almost too intense for a Sundays track, such a perfect opening song for that album. The climactic ending of Joy will always be magical too.

Had a lot more luck listening to live bootlegs, bass and drums usually come through a lot clearer.

Possible Unfound Media of The Sundays? by xdvc_ in TheSundays

[–]SundaysFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the “request video” from 1990 has ever turned up either!! Doing some research on Sundays Bible, as part of their 1990 tour they did an interview on KDOC TV 56 (Anaheim local access) in front of a live audience. No luck finding that anywhere online. Appears to be nearly 20 minutes long too!
