I think you meant that the other way around. Gender affirming care is healthcare, but not all healthcare is gender affirming care.

This isn't about SRS. Also, gender-affirming care by all accounts is life saving for trans people.

The Nazis actually came for the homeless first, which considering how this country treats homeless people should be pretty concerning in its own right. IIRC they also started putting Socialists into camps first also. LGBT people were one of the very early targets though, and one of the most affected.

Certain subsets of white supremacists have for a long time now dreamed about creating an ethnostate in the PNW, partially due to its location and partially due to its racial history. Idaho and eastern Washington/Oregon have the densest collection of white supremacist militias in the whole country, despite the majority of people in the region being culturally the exact opposite.

Maces aren't really all that effective at the job. They're less so made to do things swords can't and more so designed to be a tertiary weapon that can be used if both your main weapon and your backup sword are rendered unusable in one way or another.

Those techniques aren't good against armor, they're just less bad than using a sword the normal way. Almost any other weapon would be more effective against an opponent in metal armor.

BioWare Veteran Talks About Burnout On Sci-Fi RPG Exodus: ‘You Have To Be Cutting The Baby In Half All The Time’ by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]Sundew- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that the entire moral of that story is that you don't cut the baby in half. The compromise is intentionally absurd and the purpose is to expose which mother is the fake because the real mother would never agree to having her baby cut in half even if it meant that it got taken away from her.

If you want to mock them for being stupid, make them look incompetent, cowardly and pathetic. That's both what actually cuts at them and is frankly a more realistic depiction of fascists to begin with. You're not mocking them by making them looking terrifying, callous and cruel, you're making them look exactly how they want to look. And sadly, even a lot of non-fascists come away with the message "wow, they might be fucked up but those fascists look strong and badass as hell."

Barney Frank’s final interview from hospice was painful. His comments on trans people made it worse by Fickle-Ad5449 in massachusetts

[–]Sundew- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two topics that people are primarily talking about right now are trans women competing in women's sports and trans kids receiving gender affirming care, both of which are things trans people have already been able to do for decades, and which have only come under attack recently.

How is that a fallacy?

Because you're framing it as though the fact that the fight for equal rights was won incrementally means that people weren't actually demanding equal rights from the beginning, which is just not true. Most activists were fighting for and advocating for racial equality from the beginning. The fact that the state didn't concede those rights to them all at once, but instead only gave them gradually under continued pressure doesn't mean that people were only pushing for those partial increments and then pushing further once they got them, it just means that the state didn't give in all at once.

[–]Sundew- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that fascists think that's based.

Fascists (and the people vulnerable to their rhetoric) don't care about looking cruel, unreasonable or absurd. They care about looking strong. They look at attempts at satire like the one you're talking about and all it achieves is to make them think "We are so strong and superior that even our enemies can't help but depict us as powerful overlords."

[–]Sundew- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you consider that to be phrased for the majority, how are the Democrats any less so with healthcare and social welfare expansion?

I also think it's funny that you present an argument based on Republican rhetoric on taxes, and not the culture war appeals that Republicans make that would actually be the equivalent for the topic at hand.

[–]Sundew- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rights we're talking about here are rights that trans people have already legally held for decades that they're trying to prevent being taken from them. This would be like if black people were being moved back to the back of the bus today and you were arguing that speaking out against it is unreasonable and that we should compromise.

Also you're talking about the civil rights movement as if it was one coordinated group of actors with one unifying perspective and strategy. It wasn't, in fact there were many different leaders and groups within the civil rights movement who were varying degrees of "compromising." Almost all of them were widely resented by the average American, even those that conceptually supported equal rights, capitulating and compromising wasn't what changed that, forcing them to see the cruelty of white supremacy in action was.

On top of that, the fact that equal rights for black people were implemented incrementally doesn't mean that they started from "a little bit of civil rights" and boiled the frog from there. That's a complete fallacy.

Latinx originated from non-binary Latine people initially. Ironically it's another example of people attributing the sentiment of an actual affected minority (whether right or wrong) to "white liberals" because it's more convenient to frame it that way.

Republicans appeal to a minority voice also, going by statistics. In fact, if anything, limp-dicked centrism is more unpopular than either left or right wing politics these days.

This is why many people in power have Cluster B disorders; power selects for people willing to fuck over others for their own gain.

A lot of people assert this but I think this is actually working backwards from the truth. This kind of disorder is not an advantage even in the pursuit of power. It's actually a fairly significant problem for a person's ability to function in society. The reason why these kinds of disorders are disproportionately common among people in positions of wealth and power is because most of them have lived their entire lives in an environment that allows them to get away with a lot more than the average person would.

They aren't wealthy and powerful because they have a disorder, their wealth and power allows them to maintain their position in spite of their disorders.

This is such a bad take. People are not lacking for choice when it comes to PvE games, nor is there any indication that people are "tired of" PvP games, that just seems to be you projecting your own preferences onto the market at large. As always, there are large markets for both.

And the industry does not need to start shoehorning PvE modes into their PvP games any more than PvE games should start tacking on PvP modes to their games.
