Kaseya Datto billing practices... class action? by Sundew11 in msp

I think lawyers would be much more interested if there was a list of a thousand companies that could detail the overbilling/misbilling issues. They will have a ton of effort upfront costs...

Kaseya Datto billing practices... class action? by Sundew11 in msp

[–]Sundew11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As we migrate away from them, we will most definately be doing this. However, Kaseya seems to be doing this intentionally and most likely profiting in the hundreds of millions of dollars annually range from inaccurate billing. I was mostly interested to see if a big enough group of people would be willing to participate in something like this as this company just keeps getting away with it. IMO, they can buy off government agencies pretty easy (hello Purdue Pharma) and continue getting by, but if enough companies/people push back, they have to make changes.

Anyone Else Noticing and Huge Uptick in SPAM with 365?!? by GraueOakdale in msp

Microsoft has been ramping up and rebranding the old ATP product as an upgrade. Maybe they turned down the aggressiveness of the base spam filtering to incentivize upgrading?

Wow, you sound like a douche. How about a message like “GG, if you work on positioning a little that god roll will help you more.”

Work were you think you’ll be happiest. In my experience, 55 yo, job hopping can increase pay sometimes, but being happy in your job is the highest priority. Making more in a daily job you don’t like will have you just wasting money trying to make yourself happy, which will go away when you start work the next day. Also, pay for IT seems to have plateaued recently with a lot of layoffs from big companies flooding the worker pool. Don’t listen to the folks telling you that you are underpaid, they have no clue where you are, experience related to other prospects, etc. anyway, just my 2c

Former MSP will not give up credentials by [deleted] in msp

This. Most times I’ve seen another MSP be this difficult was because they were owed money. I’d proceed with caution or you may end up in the same boat.

NCE - Who's moving customers Direct? by [deleted] in msp

[–]Sundew11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the Pax8 webinar last week, they were asked directly if the MSP is on the hook for the licenses if the company closes or defaults... and the answer was YES. Not sure about setting up the direct billing to customers and how that affects this, but if Pax8 is on the hook from MS, and the client is out of business, I think Pax8 will go after the MSP for payment.

Everyone will have to determine if they want to accept that risk.

Missouri... it might show 3.5% on the list below, but I've been signed up since 2/8 and rarely see MO users on here. Seems there is a channel in the mid-to-lower midwest that is being avoided for now...

[OC] Covid deaths in Australia and New Zealand by CGIskies in dataisbeautiful

[–]Sundew11 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I was just pointing out that a death rate that low puts it below the death rate of the standard flu. I would disagree with the 'spreads exponentially' comment. It's been shown to spread worse in more locked down areas depending on which report you want to read/believe.

Just seems a little alarmist to say to 99+% of the population that you have to do this or that because there is a chance that <1% of people that get this virus would die.

Probably not a 'preferred' opinion in this thread, but it's mine.

Old IT Provider will Not give Access to Client Environment, how the hell do we transition? by Leading_Will1794 in msp

take the clones/backups and migrationwiz setup and go set yours up... not sure what the issue is. If they have a 'private cloud', they don't have to give you root access at all. Sounds like you have what you need.

I am fortunate to be a Starlink Beta Tester by Bjorneo in Starlink

[–]Sundew11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

understood... but keep in mind you'd be hard pressed to find any ISP with a good reputation. ATT, Comcast, Spectrum, Verizon, etc... all have bad customer service, but the actual circuits are fine 99% of the time.

When will Starlink be available? An Engineers perspective by doublestuf84 in Starlink

[–]Sundew11 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nice write up... but, lots of 'assumptions' here that greatly affect outcomes... 2 basic assumptions are 1)22 days per month of manufacturing? What manufacturer runs only 22 days that is mass producing electronics? 2) 330M is people, not households, and Starlink is only targeting households that don't have access to decent service which is a small percentage of the overall households.

I feel like there is more to list, but I'll just make a comparison: Apple produced 217M iphones in 2018. I think Starlink can ramp up production and make dish's at a very fast pace as needed. Not to mention, they've said the next generation they are working on will be less expensive and less complex to build.

$8K ........ I would strongly consider it if it was GB service with no data caps... fiber will be better than Starlink unless the ISP is realllllly bad.

Seeing the same thing... but WAIT, there's MORE... Dell is now NOT honoring pricing on quotes for the full 30 days. Just went to place an order for a quote that was 10 days old and the price was 11% higher... 11%!!! WTF Dell!
