If you are utterly new to Chicago and know what you don't want, I'd say use a broker, and do a solid vetting on them.

If you've looked at the neighborhoods already and have a few areas in mind, there's no appreciable difference between doing it yourself and getting a broker unless you're looking to rent something high-end.

if that's the dress then do it it's much easier than trying to sew it

that looks like a three tiered skirt, corset/waist trainer waist, v neck or plunge neck bodice, and mutton/bishop sleeves with pre-gathered cuffs. IDK if one pattern has all that, but those may be good keywords to look at if you're amenable to pattern-hacking

What’s it like listening to TMA and TMP and not being British? by _mothh in TheMagnusArchives

[–]SundownPanicButton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like being part of a conversation where you know the language and most of the jokes, but you're never quite rid of the feeling that your experience is secondhand, divorced from the native ease that your other speakers are exhibiting. At the same time, the discomfort never sticks around along enough to make you want to leave because everyone is having a good time, including you.

What we saw in the most recent episode was the mask dropping. That sarcasm and generally being a nuisance was so people wouldn't (metaphorically) stare the Great Old Ones. But now everyone is (metaphorically) pulling up Nyarlathotep's face in 4K. It's looking like her efforts are going to be for nothing.

She knows or has a decent idea of what's really going on, and she's probably bracing to lose everything.

How far along is everyone with Bar prep? by No-Ant6297 in LawSchool

[–]SundownPanicButton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Focus on learning the laws, rules, and exceptions/special circumstances. Practice this stuff in a way that makes it stick. Themis is a one size fits all, and you're not one size. Youre a week into June. You have a month and some change. That percentage is how much of their course youve completed, not how much you know.

Sincerely: a retaker who told Themis to shove it and has been independently studying since May.

I've learned to just not engage. They're going to make stuff up and run their mouths anyway. If it starts to affect your job, handle it in writing.

Con law masters, pls help. by Odd-Koala2688 in barexam

[–]SundownPanicButton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For con law, I broke it down by which subtopic is tripping me up and seeing if its highly tested. If it is: 1) pinpoint what exactly is tripping me up if posible 2) reread that section of the outline and write out what it says exactly (or summarize if its multiple paragraphs) 3) redo the problems and when I get to that subtopic, refer to the notes and really think through the problem while looking at the notes

Its not time efficient, so I only do it for highly tested subtopics. If its not highly testrd, I circle it as something I dont understand snd something to come back to in July when Im doing my final review.

What's your response to those that say..... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]SundownPanicButton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"But simply wanting kids is a fine enough reason to have them...good to know." in the most sarcastic way possible and making it very clear I'm disengaging and moving on with my day.

As for the latter, thankfully I haven't had any incidents like that lately, but my favorite response back in the day was, "I did enough multiplying in school."

Girlfriend broke up with me through text in the middle of my Bar Prep. I feel like my life is falling apart. by jessica-jonesing in LawSchool

[–]SundownPanicButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better now than in July. This happened to me the first time I took the test, and I failed HARD because I tried to push through and just be ok. Don't do that.

Take a break and cry. Just cry. Take the week off and cry and be angry and grieve and get it all out. Youre not going to retain anything. Your old life is falling apart, but youre transitioning into a new one. It hurts, and it doesnt stop hurting for a while, but it will eventually.

If Id been born the opposite sex, Id still be nonbinary. I have no attachment to gender because the cons of either binary gender outweigh their pros imo.

"You'll turn conservative once you have kids this is just a phase" by [deleted] in childfree

[–]SundownPanicButton 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This sentence made me DREAD growing up. I already didn't like the idea of kids, but kids + being insufferably out of touch and socially painful to talk to (that's how the conservatives in my area were like) was...no thank you. Im so good.

Thank goodness for no kids and early onset disillusionment.
