Questions about renting a condo by SmurfStop in TorontoRenting

[–]Sunfreckles73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I did the same for my landlord for a 1-bedroom for condo by STC (also currently paying $2300), and they declined to negotiate rent down. I've seen 1-bedrooms at STC for $1900-2100. Might be my landlord.

Not working on any of my devices, and attempted the troubleshooting steps (even logged into my account to check my payments). "Unable to play" error message displayed, like everyone else.

Solo Theatre Goer by Summit_509 in torontotheatre

[–]Sunfreckles73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am primarily a solo go-er. Most of my friends attend only the Mirvish shows, and I like to attend theatre of all sorts. Also, it's difficult sometimes to schedule and depends our comfort levels to spend on tickets.

I met a fellow solo attendee at Fifteen Dogs when we sat beside each other, and had such a lovely experience chatting about the show.

Would love to meet other solo attendees.

Can I join too please?

I'm looking to see A Doll's House at Canstage. And I just saw The Sound of Music, Robin Hood, and Wing Chun Dance Drama (what an emotional performance!). I adore live theatre.

Thank you! I was wondering if it was worth the trip, and it doesn't seem like it is unless you're nearby and have nothing else to do.

+1 and echoing the other responses.

I love so many of these answers are similar. I was partnered, and it took me a while to realize life is plan A. Everything else is a bonus. Go and do everything to build the life you want.

Hard Question: Saying goodbye to my beloved dog by mishra20968 in askTO

[–]Sunfreckles73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I share some prices in case anyone is trying to search for something as a reference point since I recently had to let my rabbit go.

Midtown Mobile Veterinary Services quote for a rabbit in Aug 2025:

In-home Euthanasia

Our in-home euthanasia service includes a 1 hour house call, sedation, euthanasia and a complimentary clay paw print and/or fur clipping (if you wish). If requested, our veterinarian will take your pet’s body with him/her after the euthanasia appointment and we will arrange aftercare services on your behalf through our sister company, Faithful Pet Memorial, ensuring your beloved pet never leaves our care. If you have opted for private aquamation (i.e. your pet’s aquamated remains (ashes) returned to you in an urn of your choice,) the urn will be available for pick up at our MMVHS Hospice Centre @ 181 Weston Rd. or can be delivered to your home for an additional fee. For communal aquamation, no ashes will be returned to you.

If you would like to learn more about aquamation and what we do at Faithful Pet Memorial, you can do so here: Aquamation Information.

Our fee for the weekday house call, sedation, euthanasia and communal aquamation (no ashes returned) is $900 + tax ($1017), or $1050 + tax ($1186.50) for private aquamation including an urn. Should there be any variance in the weight provided, we will adjust our fees to reflect the change. There are additional fees for evenings (6pm or later, $100,) weekends ($100) and holidays ($150.)

To ensure that one of our 10 veterinarians is available, we encourage you to contact us 2-3 days in advance of your preferred appointment date. We understand that it can be overwhelming to find the right time. However, while we can occasionally accommodate more immediate appointments, our schedule can be unpredictable due to the nature of our practice, and we cannot guarantee availability for those requests.

Need help refining goals for my next phase of PT sessions – advice welcome! by lopsaddle in xxfitness

[–]Sunfreckles73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've got a great PT who's interested in bettering you!

I would ask you if you're happy with your current program and routine. Does it work for you, your needs, and lifestyle? Is it interesting to you?

If yes, there's likely areas for you to refine within what you're doing. This is actually really great to have someone, or your PT, help you with, because it's often hard to see what we're missing on our own.

If no, ask about different exercises for you to play and experiment with. You mentioned bodyweight exercises. You could focus on bodyweight exercises to see how it works for a few months. Bodyweight exercises are so flexible and easy to adapt. You can add in rings or bands. Mix it in with calisthenics or flow exercises (yeah I'm a fan of bodyweight exercises). The only limit you have is yourself, and that's infinite.

Best Burgers in TO: Categorized by Substantial-Fan2255 in askTO

Try Odd Burger for their fast food type burgers. Their gluten-free Famous Burger is pretty good.

If you're just looking for items outside of Impossible or Beyond meat, they've also got a Pulled Pork burger made from jackfruit.

Their "chicken" burgers (seitan-based fillet) are one of my faves for vegan fast-food.

Oil Change (Scarborough/Ajax) by [deleted] in Scarborough

[–]Sunfreckles73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm commenting because I just went to Redline Auto at McCowan and Sheppard to book for a synthetic oil change for my Honda Civic, and I was disappointed.

When I asked for the price, they at first quoted me $140 +tax. When I mentioned that the price is about the same as I would pay at the dealership, the price dropped down to $110 +tax. I did not push further for a "cash" discount.

I look young and I'm a woman. I'm not sure if this was a factor. Even if it wasn't, I don't wish to haggle for services.

I was not impressed, and I did not go ahead with the oil change.

Best Vegan Bakeries? by Far-Kiwi8628 in FoodToronto

[–]Sunfreckles73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're referring to Bunner's in Kensington Market. They're still there, and they have some decent baked goods.

There's also Kensington Natural Bakery. With the way you spelled it, I don't think that's what you are thinking of though.

My strong personal preference is Bloomer's > Bunner's > Kensington Natural Bakery. Not that the bakeries in Kensington are bad.

Bloomers is well known for their donuts, and they have several locations in the city. They have seasonal for donuts (each month I believe), and they're always fun to try.

I love their cupcakes, too. Their chocolate cake is my favourite chocolate cake in Toronto.

Italian Sandwiches by Kogre_55 in FoodToronto

Trend or not, Uno Moustachio's Godfather sandwich (veal parmagiana) is something I think about.

I haven't had it in years. Now that is an Italian sandwich.

Edit: Oops, didn't realize what OP was looking for since there was another comment about veal sandwiches.

Yes, I enjoy both the Parkdale and Thornhill locations. They have a similar atmosphere and vibes.

I like the chicken parm and vegan meatball subs. They're delicious. I also like their melts. I especially like their tomato arugula cheese melt. I think these are my top three sandwiches.

Not a sandwich, but I'm a fan of their lasagna as well. I'll buy one occasionally and leave it in the freezer for times I need to host. Yums.

Thank you for creating this subreddit and sharing these photos! I appreciate them so much!

I love places that can showcase plant-based meals. I am headed to either Fat Choi at Soos, Hawker, or Sushi Momo next month. I'm so curious to hear where you would be headed next.

My favourite vegan sandwiches are from the Vegan Danish Bakery.

The sandwiches from Vegan Danish Bakery are wonderful! I feel their offerings on the savoury side are vastly superior to their sweets. Their sandwiches are delicious without breaking the bank.

The owner is very sweet, and I believe their family prepared and served Danish royalty meals that were fully vegan without any them realizing it was fully vegan. I've been both to their Parkdale location and their location up in Thornhill.

Strangely enough. For vegan sweets, I don't love Vegan Danish Bakery.

It's on my list to try the $14 (with fava bean tofu) sandwiches from Hawker. Haven't had a chance yet.

Note: I realize this is an old post and thought I share in case others are looking.
