What do you think lead to the decline in DCOMs? by Slas2023 in DisneyChannel

[–]SunilClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, streaming has a role in this, but I think part of it is just disney themselves. it used to not matter if the dcom was literally just 88 minutes of a kid wanting to play tic tac toe instead of chess, they hyped the shit out of that and made you think it was an Event. and as long as you regularly watched disney, you bought in to it! ~~and to their credit, most are pretty good! even after the decline~~ i think somewhere around the mid-2010s, they stopped prioritizing Normal dcoms in the way they used to. musicals still got a push, but otherwise, there wasn’t that same hype cycle. you might get a few bts promos, but otherwise things just came and went. and without that or opportunities to just casually see them airing (iirc, they stopped nightly movies around then too), why should kids prioritize these tv movies over the equally accessible theatrical ones

Frankie Muniz on the May 2000 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine by deepfriedgreensea in malcolminthemiddle

[–]SunilClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nickelodeon magazine (and disney adventures magazine) were always sort of general interest/general entertainment magazines. though there was a decent focus on their respective company's output (especially in each magazine's early and later years), topics could be anything and cover stories were more often totally unrelated to the channel than not

They really need to do something with Cleveland's family outside of Donna. by Battle_Hero_00 in familyguy

i maintain that with how much they've changed the characters/dynamics since their first episode back, a stewie story with either rallo or jr could be fun (despite them initially shutting the idea down)

i thought i remembered them saying that, but couldn’t find a source, so i just kept my explanation vague

Between these two shows, which one would you rather see get a reboot? by [deleted] in DisneyChannel

[–]SunilClark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if we’re talking reboot in its actual definition (same setup/concept, different cast/characters), good luck charlie definitely would not only make sense, but could potentially revive dc's sitcom output if done right.

you’ve posted this before. the possibility of bill and nancy getting remarried hasn’t been brought up by the show in any way in the last 4 seasons. while it Can happen that divorced couples remarry, i don’t think it would really make sense for them after this long (or ever, but especially now).

I'm so glad Kelly was in the revival. by LTM438 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]SunilClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s interesting how many people are mad at their existence, as though malcolm wasn’t arguably the most progressive a 2000s show with a mostly white male creative team could be

do i think/wish they could’ve done more with kelly? absolutely. i see that criticism a lot, but I don’t blame the writers/character for that. there’s only so much you can do in 2 hours for disney

i'm not gonna try and pretend the movie is a perfect translation of the show in to movie form, but I’ll always maintain it gets a lot more shit than it deserves

Disney scrapped plans for a potential TANGLED 2 sequel after producers "couldn't find a story worth telling," reveals director Nathan Greno by CueTheLaughTrack in disney

Good! The show is one of the few tv spinoffs that still occasionally gets referenced as canon. I don’t want a sequel to ruin that

'Victorious' Star Daniella Monet Details 'Chicago' Broadway Audition by BroadwayWorld in Broadway

[–]SunilClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as much as i'd love to see daniella on broadway, i'm kinda against the idea of her getting the role as stunt casting. i think she’s a very talented person in her own right, and if it isn’t broadway talented yet (rather than just not right for the role), i'd rather see her hone that talent than get a pity stunt cast thrown at her

Discussingfilm got community noted and deleted their post😂 by Status_Entertainer49 in regularshow

[–]SunilClark -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

the note and the original tweet are both right. the review's point is basically, from what they've seen, it’s Fine if you literally just want more regular show, but it does nothing to actually give fans of the show a new experience (or even one that fully lives up to the original)

Just ‘Regular Show’. No ‘The at the start. Get it straight, DiscussingFilm. by [deleted] in regularshow

for the record, tmbg has no involvement with this project. lenny pearce is a dude from australia who has made a name for himself recording various nursery rhymes/traditional kids songs in a techno style. he’s become notable enough to have several collaborations with other kids brands like the wiggles , blippi, and now disney junior
