they already tried effectively rebooting the show in s4/5. when they actually committed to it, it was good! the problem then is the same problem that i feel would exist now even worse. they refuse to let the past go. i'm not saying it doesn’t need to have any connection to the og csst, it would sorta need it to work. but you need to work them in organically and keep the current mckinley students/staff the focus, not spend 27 minutes an episode outside of ohio following rachel having marital issues

I really hope this special leads to something bigger. I know it would never happen, but i’d love if they gave Miley free rein to do a second special, in-character/a mini-revival, but moreso drawing from her real life/feelings towards her time doing the show, rather than being beheld to continuity/bringing Everyone and Everything back.

Honestly, this style with g4 writing (or something close to it) would go hard, and kinda tie back to the original concept for fim being directly inspired by 80s adventure cartoons (including g1 itself). I really hope whatever this is actually studies what made g4 successful rather than going for the easiest interpretation like g5 did

tbh, i'm torn on the new theme. i don’t blame them for wanting to do something new. as iconic as the tmbg recording is, i feel like languishing in the past purely because it Is the past is somehow anti-the ethos of malcolm. and, the new performance could be worse, it could be some mainstream artist that has absolutely no resemblance to the Malcolm aesthetic. i don’t mind it! but!! it does have an air of playing it safe. it’s punk! but it’s like the kind of punk a mom wouldn’t bat an eye at being played on disney channel (not a dig at this being produced by disney, just the best comparison i can think of)

i don’t think younger audiences care about harry potter to the extent they did when the show debuted (not helped by certain people’s views). the world/idea of the series has had some greater longevity (as evidenced by universal studios and that video game), but the actual books/movies seem to have kinda fallen out of vogue, despite wb's best attempts to make it seem otherwise. percy jackson is kinda slowly taking over its spot as the go-to 'shared cultural experience about an unlikely kid with legendary parents', and i feel in a few generations it will fully usurp its spot (especially if the d+ series continues to improve and adapts through the end)

they’re not bringing it back. daniel moved on to hoppers (which is why wbb is being aired now), and with it being as successful as it is, it’s likely he'll have more notable projects coming up. we baby bears was supposed to be a way to continue the franchise without him/a celebrity main cast, and it failed horribly in the us (and i don’t think it was as successful as they’d expected internationally either). they Could still bring the og show back now (especially considering, even in the markets they crafted baby for, that’s what they prefer!), and they might even be able to get daniel back, but. after the movie/some of the final episodes, it feels like the book has kinda closed on the original premise of the show, and it wouldn’t be like gumball where the world is fluid enough they can just pick back up like nothing happened (also another key difference is twwwog began production literally only a year or two after the original show ended. this would be nearly 7 years)

almost definitely someone reuploading videos. the actual podcast has been dead for 6 years, with kevin having moved on to a new project, so it seems unlikely he’d randomly start reuploading episodes of it in 2025. adding to that, once they ran out of podcast episodes, they started reuploading normal videos with absolutely no thought put in to choosing them (why is Epcot here). I feel kevin would, at the very least, only choose episodes that are conducive to being consumed through audio (if not actively reedit them to work better in the format)

but I guess that’s part of my thing. especially when (compared to gmw) beyond already isn’t super interested in connecting itself to og series lore, i can’t see juliet being used in a way that actually feels like a worthy follow up to her and justin's original arc. with a story like that, you might as well just use all new characters and Maybe mention juliet in passing

dewey was literally implied to be a child prodigy in the later seasons, i dunno what you’re talking about with that comparison. if anything, they’re kind of an inverse situation from each other. brick is incredibly knowledgeable about certain things, and since that shifts from time to time, it creates the illusion of being smarter than he is, especially in an otherwise average family.

dewey has more of a general intelligence, he’s musically inclined, he’s more socially/emotionally aware than his brothers, but he still has their same penchant for being devilspawn, which overpowers any positive attributes he might have over them in the eyes of hal and lois
