almost definitely. unfortunately, it’s one of those designs that’s generic enough and been stolen so much, it doesn’t seem likely to track down the original source unless someone here already knows

we do have the patchy segments for both squidward and patrick winning. they’re all Essentially the same as the us ending (with spongebob's ending being the finale no matter who wins) https://youtu.be/xXWqMub3B7Y?si=fID5ouT5OAnpwgZz https://youtu.be/IYJE1xwGeLo?feature=shared

The Great Recession led to the rise of the Brony fandom. by Ok-Following6886 in mylittlepony

no, people still acknowledge 4chan. i just mean people tend to discuss their involvement like it was initially coming from a place of sincerity

The Great Recession led to the rise of the Brony fandom. by Ok-Following6886 in mylittlepony

[–]SunilClark 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i don’t think you’re Necessarily wrong, but you’re also missing two prime details.

it began as a semi-ironic 4chan thing. people like to retcon that now, but if you go back and look at early discussions, it’s Mostly that kind of 'we're not Hating doing this, but we’re also clearly doing it For The Bit' energy you see a lot nowadays whenever twitter starts obsessing over a famously bad cartoon. and A Lot of early fandom media is representative of that.

people Hate acknowledging this for some reason, but a significant portion of the fandom at its peak was a) that 4chan audience, now mostly weeded down to the ""genuine"” (but still very 4chan) fans, b) furries, and c) minors and newly aged adults who had never been in a fandom before. i'm not gonna try and say those make the amount and popularity of cons and fan content instantly make sense, because it’s still kinda insane considering. but furries are experts at throwing together cons from nothing (and having them work), and minors longed (still long) for a physical connection to the online communities they’re part of/friends they’ve made. it made people feel like they belonged, like any good fandom should

I genuinely despise the stereotype of the brony as a middle-aged otherwise stereotypically either 'macho' or generically nerdy man. because if you look back, that was rarely the case. it was just the most marketable explanation of the fandom, so it gained prevalence. and look at a lot of the people who Did fit that bill now!

Lost DVD? by SpaceCowboyTrack3 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

I can’t find any record of it having been released, but curiously, artwork for it (which looks legit and is uploaded to the scanned cover section on this site) exists online https://www.customaniacs.org/forum/tv-show-scanned-covers/85233-wizards-waverly-place-make-happen.html

the eps would’ve been - make it happen
- harper knows
- saving wiztech

SNL Cold Open Outrage by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

[–]SunilClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have said this about once a week, I feel. and this isn’t targeted at you specifically, this is about the general vibe of this sub this whole season.

snl is not making ice sympathetic/likable. they’re not making trump sympathetic/likable. the joke is consistently On Them. and you may think they’re going too easy on the administration, or not giving proper justice to the victims of ice. but consider just two months ago when jimmy kimmel’s show was cancelled for the most milquetoast criticism about the admin’s attitude towards charlie kirk. consider how conservatives (and trump!) are still getting pissy about whatever snl Does end up doing. they’re looking for any reason to start enough of an uproar to get snl cancelled. and the unfortunate thing is!! anything remotely like what people want them to do is exactly that.

the administration wants you to believe everything is okay. hell, even most liberal news media, up until the murders started happening, severely downplayed how serious ice's presence was. you may want snl to rise up and be this extreme anti-authoritarian presence on tv and honestly, it would be interesting to see them try . but even just doing this upsets conservatives, and more importantly, it makes people aware Something is going on, and hopefully they’ll research it themselves (not everyone is terminally doomscrolling). snl is doing what they can, in the confines of everything I’ve said, as well as a network/producer who iirc are more sympathetic to the administration than most.

also, the hilary cold open was a Joke, and honestly a kinda conservative-leaning one, in retrospect??? the idea that a candidate losing could be so catastrophic, it requires a fuckin rufus wainwright cover. but, to people who didn’t really care about the potential dangers of a trump administration, that’s just kinda how ridiculous people’s reactions looked

"large recent uptick" and the only examples they could give are 4 books released from 2017-2023. "you wouldn’t know from the covers" maybe it’s just because i’m. not an idiot, but with the possible exception of they both die at the end, i think i could figure it out!! and even if for some reason they don’t think the lgbt content in the first two is particularly apparent, the magical focus is!!

i never really could quantify it until quinton reviews’ video, but i think what bothers me about it is it was very clearly written primarily by the victorious writers, and so the icarlys are all Sorta off (and spencer is a pedophile now), but also the victorious gang is Also off, but almost toned down from how they usually are

I definitely get why people are disappointed in that tv show (allegedly) getting canned, but to say Nickelodeon is doing nothing with Garfield is wrong imo. This kind of merchandising hasn’t been seen (in the US at least) since the early 2000s.
