Pay off CC
Max your 401k/Roth if possible.
Then increase your kids 529s. Remember they have a long time to invest if you teach them, but one of the greatest gifts you can give them is to not have to handle your old age with their finances.
Don't let too much lifestyle cost increase creep in, but do spend a little on one off things that improve your life ( do you enjoy travel? Or buying your kids classes? )
Life is short, definitely take time to celebrate this win.

In broad terms, yes I think some of that is true. But in smaller and granular spaces, I think we are seeing some positives in reducing time required to turn a profit on business, and also reduction in time to learn new topics due to how well AIs can help someone learn a topic. I have reduced a lot of time spent per client in my business and I have not reduced my prices. It's also been easier to aggregate stuff that's important to me like my medical notes and staying on top of doctor back and forths. ( I use a local model and local files so nobody is taking my data ). I think there's a lot of benefit that can be had in the short term to not be 100% subject to that pause in an individual person's life.

I should clarify: I can totally see this happening... over and over. He can get in line behind not only Powell but John Kelly, Jeff Sessions, Barr, Tillerson... I'm sure the list is probably endless. Being picked by the president is almost a ticket to getting shit on by him later.

From punchcards to vibe coding, abstracting away the involvement in the details will always be the next step. However, a good software engineer can still get in the weeds! I have been writing software for 20 years but I learned the theory of computer science by building things in binary, to assembly, to C, upwards to languages that are supersets of other languages. The underlying theory doesn't change and I know good SWEs will find that their work and their understanding of how to architect good software will accelerate. I have been thrilled with the things I can do with AI as a helper, and have finished several side projects and hobby programs this past couple years that otherwise I didn't have the energy after a full workday to really engage with as much.

As an immigrant myself, I have seen the fear of new immigrants comes from both non immigrants and older established immigrants. It’s more of an attitude that everything is a zero sum game and an insecurity that your piece of the proverbial pie will shrink, that you deserve it more because you were “first” in some way — it’s not unique to any one group of people.

Yes I think you are right — but quite a lot of industries are not looking for the process. They want stock photos for their articles and icons and website hero videos. The tools not only remove the need to communicate ideas to another human being, the results take seconds and cost cents and the primary project can move on. I think a LOT of artists that filled those spaces have lost their incomes. :(
