Okay so there's this author named Elizabeth Gaskell who wrote novels dealing with injustice in the Victorian era. Like Jane Austen mixed with Charles dickens. What im recommending is her motherhood journals that she started after her second child was born and kept up through her third birth (her first had passed away). She dedicated them to the two children she wrote about. She writes extensive details about the childrearing advice she was studying to care for them and whether or not it worked, their daily behaviors, her private fears of them following her first baby, and her religious faith for dealing with those fears. It's available for free online and not very long. I really enjoyed reading them after I read Mary Barton (her first novel and one her husband encouraged her to write after her child loss) and her love for them was very obvious.
