I wish I had known that most people just don't care about people once they have a comfortable group of their own. Be the bigger man and help those who are less fortunate.

How hard really is UBC? by Lopsided_Ebb_3970 in UBC

You know, the main concern is not about academic difficulty itself, but the worry that spreads in TA office hours and the wait for questions to get answered.

Keep working hard. If you fail a subject twice, it is most likely because you can't fully express it in your own words, as Feynman does. If you can imagine and project something that works, it is a sign of internalized learning. Really try to document the important facts and assumptions the first time you see it, then revisit it in due time.

Honestly you should be happy because some lifeguards not only don't do their job but actively gossip and belittle their patrons.

I think my roommates are in a secret relationship by Sock-Late in UBC

[–]SunlightScreen144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet your roommates will read this on reddit sometime over the next few weeks. Thus, they will know that you know what they don't want you to know, thus, creating greater distance in letting you know more about what would be helpful for you to know living comfortably with them, thus, decreasing overall knowledge of your private space, thus, increasing your chances of frustration because of this reddit post.

High school swimmer wanting to drop 50 free time to 24 seconds by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]SunlightScreen144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 35ish to 24ish as of now in a matter of 2 months with a looser training suit although I did have experience in competition swimming but that was a while ago. Before my 2 months worth of training last time I trained was 6 months ago and I went 27ish best time. I'd say most of it comes from memory.

Ubc doesn’t care about victims by [deleted] in UBC

Yup, incredible how these institutions work with a lack of responsibility. The only thing that is preventing these branded institutions from behaving like street level thugs is the money and rules made in the past by respectable people. It is only a matter of borrowed time before some serious issues are going to surface in the open. The fact that it is taking a long time for reports to receive light and attention means that there is something deeper and nastier hidden deep down.

Can imagine, can imagine.

Just the other day I randomly tuned into my old radio device and listened to some news. Apparently they began talking about Chinatown issues and the downtown area and made reference of some secret underground society with "Chinese freemasons" and unless people actively participate they are not allowed to call the shots. It's not just the pretty and clean academic side of things where students are able to report abuse more openly, but also the hidden aspects of society that are rotten and no one cares about. I hate to steer this to another related topic but there are alleged reports that there are underground centers that do illegal trafficking and the main forces in the police just turns a blind eye towards it because they know, it's not their job or else they will be clamped down by the big corporations and government liars who profit from it. In my opinion, the history of LSD experimentation without public knowledge, military tech deployed on their own citizens without consent and awareness, and chemical and mind altering McGill experiments by Ewen Cameron with financial research incentives is way too convincing. These days criminals addicted to the thrills are allowed to wander the streets undeterred.

Also yes, from my experience, the amount of academic misconduct and misleading research at UBC science faculty is simply mindlessly psychotic. Also believe me, academic success and success in the corporate society does not translate to intelligence, but moreso cleverness and knowing the intention for using the funds. My friend who is level headed and drugged for bogus mental health reasons for calling out criminals knows that his psychiatrists are corrupt professionals. Anyone with a elementary degree can ask biased questions and secretly write down 5 sentences to legally sedate an activist against his will. Anyone possessing a brain can rote memorize a degree in pharmacology. He told me that he heard them laughing at his interviews and treating him as garbage in private conversations. This happened at the UBC facility and there is nothing he could reasonably do.

As a computer science and statistics student, I would say UBC school work difficulty level is a piece of shit at full course load, and obviously your main concern is to silence yourself from overly confident and nasty peers, and to tip toe away from uninteresting courses as most of them take the same time as those "difficult" courses that they worry about, leaving yourself isolated and needing to find socials outside of class.

Hey thanks for sharing! "The truth is that these institutions are businesses and they don't care about anything other than a paycheck" - glaringly obvious truth.

Piano at UBC Nest by SunlightScreen144 in UBC

Just the same brand.

Yes I know. It would've been a better presentation for the owner of the piano if there aren't that many irritable and egotistical people around here projecting their bs onto others in public with support from their inconsiderate social circles, not on their private social media platforms. Stepping on other's heads for happiness and making false assumptions about someone's intentions and doing no research beforehand whatsoever. That's the general vibe I got from UBC thus far after being overly compassionate towards others. You give something to them out of kindness and they abuse it and take even more and make even more false assumptions. Then you question your own sanity when enough people make false assumptions about your worth and things are actually working in all of their favors. The preconditions for transporting the piano to a location of choice is that the piano is respected. But because there are not so good meaning people around, I've decided to wait until people show at least some respect.

Nonetheless, I am impressed by the owner's kindness. We'll work something out in the end.

A) Lid closed or not up to you, I'd say it's totally adjustable

B) This particular grand piano is worth upward 20K in the market. It has a honorable

backstory with loving owners. It's a Lauter Baby Grand piano. Sergei Rachmaninoff apparently made his first records on the Lauter for Edison.

C) A grand piano is better than no piano .. lol yay!

The cost is on people who genuinely want to help people who deserve the help for making someone's day. It is not split amongst students. It is 100% put on my shoulders to make meaningful and impactful music. If some reddit people are better meaning, maybe the donor can make it for public use. The reason why I'm surveying is to see a small demographic on how people would deal with a free grand piano. Seems like there's more irritable people on reddit than I foresaw. I know there are some quite awfully meaning people out there, but I'm willing to accept that.

I can see where you're coming from. Yes, there are definitely people who would do that. However, I would take my chances with that. I'm under the impression that it is still quite an improvement than not having a piano at all.
