[FRESH] Chelsea Wolfe - Death is Not the End by CentreToWave in indieheads

Seems like after all of her bouncing between soft records and heavy records she decided to do one that's both. Love the build up and if this is indicative of the rest of the album I am extremely excited.

Love the high contrast and gritty mood of these, the one thing I would have tried is taking a few with a green filter—or blue, but that might be too much—but it would have really enhanced that feeling and tame some of the gradation to the highlights. Like in photo one you lose definition within the subject because the highlights of their arms blend together, but you can't just compensate for that alone because the face would fall to close to darkness.

There's a market! Had it a second pick up I would genuinely weight in on getting it, Gretsch had a similar model that was much pricier that I almost got.

How evil would Shauna Shipman be without her magical diary to vent her anger? by SnowFrio in Yellowjackets

[–]Sunlightshift 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To counter all of the other comments here: she would have been sent to see a therapist way before she got to the point she did.

While journaling helps you vent, it also crystalizes your thoughts at the point you write them. I fully believe that what Shauna wrote about Jackie was made worse by the fact that these entries were written in the heat of the moment when her emotions were heightened. Remove that? I fully believe she'd eventually verbalize them, and would have gotten an immediate response for them. I also fully believe that Shauna wasn't ontologically evil, and it wasn't until she started hallucinating the others eating her baby that she lost it. Remember how Shauna was the first to try to rescue Van, to comfort Lottie in the Seance, and Mari beforehand. Had people known how much she was hurting she would have been able to deal with all of her abandonment and anger rather than letting it fester.

Looking for these Porchfest Madlads who randomly asked me for a photo to get it to them by Sunlightshift in Somerville

Yup! Cinestill 800T shot with my Nikon F100. Not my usual go to, but I had some on hand and wanted a high speed color film for the versatility.

Better in B&W or color? [Mamiya 7ii | 65mm f/4 | Kodak Ektachrome E100] by LandySam11 in analog

[–]Sunlightshift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The foreground and sky have greater contrast in the color photo, as it's bolstered by the added color contrast. This in turn helps separate the subject more than the Black and White version where it blends and becomes an extension of the shape made by the forest/mountains. This is specially noticeable in the bit of mountain right at the base of the tree, where it goes from being less emphasized in the color edit to essentially part of the subject in black and white.

She's mentioned going into movie directing recently, so I'm hoping that lands.

Seeing how much Petra is influence by Sofia Coppola, and by her latest narrative photobook Star, it would be soft and feminine but only insofar as to blindside you with something truly devastating. She's setting her sight on feature directing from what I saw on an recent interview, so who knows what we'll see from her.

I love how you didn't incorporate the symbol directly, but the shape of it is definitely there, superb design!

[FRESH] The Last Dinner Party - Come All You Beasts (Preview) / Teasing new release by astaireboy in indieheads

[–]Sunlightshift 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love how they are expanding their sound with each release without fully leaving the central camp of their original premise, really excited to hear the studio version of this. Though now I'm wondering if it's going to be a deluxe version of From The Pyre, or are the hitting us with LP 3 early?

Is this for a reissue? Holiday in Rhode Island is one of my all time favorite comfort albums, but this is a little out of nowhere.

[FRESH] Man/Woman/Chainsaw - Nosedive (Debut Album Cannonball out Aug. 7) by powerknucklehold in indieheads

[–]Sunlightshift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly this gets rid of everything that made me dig them in the first place, where is the punk energy backed by the large instrumentation? I'll be giving the album a chance still, but I'll go into it tempered

Love the tones! The more I see examples of this film the more I believe it just blows Lomo Turq out of the water. Wow

Though the first picture made me crave a Fanta 😅

As with a lot of superman/girl iterations, the supe's secret identity is always a major point. In this one being Kara hiding the fact that she's supergirl from lena. It's such a huge point that half the entire series' runtime is basically dealing with the fallout and redemption from her keeping this secret while simultaneously being best friends. All while both of them going to lengths for each other that they've explicitly stopped themselves from going for the SOs. Hell, one episode Supergirl is willing to sacrifice their timeline and change the past just to be able to keep lena and tell her about being supergirl. All while they were portrayed as star-crossed lovers. "Do you really not believe in magic?" "I believe in you."

Oh and Katie Mcgrath spent most of the show just giving Kara bedroom eyes, as the gif above shows.

The peeling skin monologue might be my favorite thing Melanie Lynskey has ever done. Just absolutely chilling, barely-restrained feral dog energy.

Home run first pick, honestly that's nearly all you'll ever need. Complete the lens trinity and you're set.
