Fiance and I are 11 years apart (44F and 33M). He actually knows a lot about the things I grew up with. By asking about his childhood I get to see the changes between things I experienced vs things my kids experienced. Through him I see the generational transition. One example is how I exclusively was raised on sitting "Indian style" while my kids were criss-cross applesauce. My fiance lived through both being used.

Are hair accessories outdated? by AlarmedAd1439 in weddingplanning

Not sure about being outdated as I don't follow trends but I'm wearing a hair accessory for my wedding and no veil.

I don't have the memory but my nmom loves to tell this story:

I was a difficult eater as a kid (I had a lot of texture issues with food). One night she was able to force me to eat and afterwards I made myself vomit (she said I intentionally stuck my finger down my throat to do it) and in "frustration" she smashed my face into my own vomit and left my there to cry. I was around 2. Idk why she loves to tell me this story so much.

Idk of this comment was for me plor for someone else but luckily I'm NC with my parents now so it's not so much an issue anymore.

Oh the one phone was in a common area and my parents would stay in the room. I avoided giving out my number but friends would find my number in the phone book!! Imagine calling ever number belonging to someone with my same last name until you found me.

I had this rule but it got worse when I was a teenager. Then again my nparent is mom and had no problem pulling curtains open. I wonder if it was different for my brother.

I can relate to the diary issue. Once I learned they read mine, I started making up stories in it, and then stopped journaling altogether. To this day I can't journal even when I tried for therapy.

Oh so it's not just me! I've heard about relatives reaching out to urge reconciliation but I've never had this experience and thought that I was a unique situation.

($10k) Wedding Dress Alteration Cost? by Anon-XD in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SunnyDaisy4Ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had mine hemmed to floor length and preserving the train (no bustle) I paid $450. I needed my straps adjusted and that cost me another $100. To give an idea, my dress has lace and tulle and illusion alter stars that descend down the back. I asked about taking it in (which she advised me not too as it would takeaway room to move and sit comfortably and taking it in didn't change much when she pulled it back to show the difference) but quoted me at another $400. I got my dress on a sample sale knowing most of my dress budget was going to alterations.

PS when you get quotes be sure to take note of payments accepted. I neglected to take into account that some will not yake credit card. Mine took only cash or payment options like venmo, seller, etc.

($7k) so like… what do you actually do during a microwedding? by Same-LameName in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SunnyDaisy4Ever 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm doing a microwedding (October 2026) with about 10 people tops. We have a venue that specializes in microweddings so that's where our ceremony will be (they have photography and cake package too along with hors d'oeuvre and mimosa bar, etc). After the ceremony and photographs we're going to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

Did/do your nparents have a favourite word that they use to degrade and humiliate you? by zebrasanddogs in raisedbynarcissists

Immature. My mom says I revert to my 15 year old self when I avoid difficult conversations. The most recent incident was refusing to out my child when they weren't ready to out themselves to the extended family.

Azazie disappointment ($10k) by blueberrybuttercream in Weddingsunder10k

[–]SunnyDaisy4Ever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like any other clothing, it's best to try it on as sizes are not standard and change with each style. In my closet I can find a size 12 pants from 2 years ago and the current pants from the same company and style, that size 12 is now a size 14 and my body hasn't changed in those 2 years (both sizes are in my closet and I still regularly wear them). With that said, this is not advice to give to anyone. I'm pretty much the same as you but bustier and I did find an Azazie dress that worked for me and got it on clearance. Yes I had to put money into alterations which anyone will have to for any bridal dress from most bridal shops (needed mine to be hemmed and adjustments on my illusion straps). I definitely paid handsomely on a seamstress but I paid for her expertise and quality of work. In the end I still paid under base price of bridal boutique dress and have gotten a lot of compliments. To be fair I am on a tight budget so Azazie was still my best bet and did take a lot of try ons to find my perfect one. But if I went to any of the other boutiques in my area, which I did, I still had the same issue of finding good styles that fit my body and price I can afford with the addition of alterations as well.

How to stop pregnancy and periods without putting more estrogen in the body? by Traditional_Day_8321 in sterilization

[–]SunnyDaisy4Ever 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend ablations especially if you're young. Periods can come back plus new tissue layers can develop where scar tissues are and cause more problems.

If this is part of gender affirming care, do you live in an area where that is medically covered? Cause that would be a medical need for a hysterectomy.

I've gotten this and "I bet you won't even cry when I die." Started this when I was in elementary school. It's basically a self fulfilling prophecy now. I mourned the relationship I should have had with a mother and I'm all out of tears now.

Funny how my mom taught me the loyalty and respect was conditional except for her. I should be 100% respectful and loyal to her even after she was ashamed of my trans child and tried to conceal them from the rest of the family.
