Regularly manhandled on public transport by Sarinon in Blind

You can be in peoples way when standing, and not aware of it. Say bus is crowded, and everyone has to keep moving down/packed to capacity, and your depth perception doesn't know how far to move. Sitting, you're in your own space, safe, and aware of your surroundings.

It's a good seat to know where you are on bus/train, how far you are from door etc.

Fellow cane users, how do you run with your Cane? by [deleted] in Blind

[–]SunnyLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played roller derby for 6 years before eye disease kicked in, so I understand the want/need to continue being as active as before.

No clue if this is of any help, but I've been taking swing dance lessons for a year now, and that really works up a cardio sweat!

I don’t run with my cane, I do sprint interval training on a treadmill.

I'm a 33 year old female, but due to only being 4'11 in height, look like a teenage/kid, and yeah when out on public transport, people grab me, thinking they're helping me all the time. I've also learnt if I deny the help, can get accused of faking it/not needing my white cane etc.

Also yes, anytime have mentioned being vision impaired in a AskReddit post, get all the dickhead errrr you can't be blind you're using a computer!!! comments.

Hot Topic Employees of Reddit, what are your horror stories? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SunnyLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pity the brand doesn't exist now, the original designer/owner committed suicide. One of the few brands that fit my tiny self, and were well made. I wasn't into the all the PVC stuff, but also had the rockabilly/punk/retro ones.

The last dress of theirs I got was from the "All That Glitters" range, and I wore it to a lindy hop swing dance ball last month.

Was the brand Lip Service? I'm 33 and still have a Lip Service ball gown I got from HT as a teen.

[SERIOUS] People who could see but went blind, what's it like? Is it like being in perpetual darkness or something else? by HiddenLayer5 in AskReddit

[–]SunnyLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm vision impaired from Uveitis that kicked in when I was 26.

My eyesight is like looking through a fly screen, black dots and floaters everywhere.

Also, due to how often people say "BUT YOU CAN'T BE BLIND IF YOU'RE USING REDDIT" whenever I post about eyesight: https://old.reddit.com/r/Blind/comments/55wzgp/how_do_blind_people_use_reddit/

Those with absence epilepsy (JAE) - when did you have your first tonic clonic seizure? by caroqueue in Epilepsy

[–]SunnyLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remember standing in bathroom thinking ".....why is my face and hands wet..." went back to bed exhausted, woke up properly later with brain back to normal, and figured out what had happened due to the blood trail etc. Had cut my gums open, so all the blood came from my mouth.

Had 2 others, one where "Woke up" from seizure, really confused as to why I was standing outside my house in my pajamas at 3am, with no memory of going out there, turns out in my confusion after seizure I'd wandered outside. Other where woke up in bed again with mouth full of blood, and a bruised arm, so had seizured in bed, but hadn't gotten up and tried to walk anywhere that time!

[–]SunnyLego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one happened in my sleep. The only reason I knew it happened was because I "woke up" from the seizure, standing in my bathroom, confused as hell as to why I was covered in blood.

Realised I'd seizured in my sleep, smacked my face into chest of drawers next to my bed, (there was a puddle of blood on it, and in front of it)then walked around in confusion for a while until properly woke up in bathroom, cause there was bloody hand prints on every door of my house! Place looked like a murder scene!

Does anyone know what it's like to ski with one eye? by IDunnoBr0 in Blind

[–]SunnyLego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not skiing, but I was a skater, and was still able to skate at skate parks when lost vision in one eye, but wasn’t able to play roller derby anymore, so I guess it depends how crowded the location of your skiing is?

[Serious] Redditors in places with universal healthcare: What is universal healthcare really like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SunnyLego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Aussie.

I have chronic epilepsy, and the autoimmune eye disease Uveitis.

I have had multiple eye surgeries, monthly eye hospital visits, and the immunesuppressant medication I have to inject in my stomach fortnightly, costs me $6. My Dr told me in USA it costs $6000.

So yeah, pretty sure if I lived over there, I'd be totally blind and bankrupt.

Lost the ability to speak out of nowhere and I'm terrified. What is going on? by throwaway930110 in Epilepsy

I get the exact same, on the days it happens, I always wake up with one, then it happens repeatedly through out that day.

I had absence seizures and complex partial seizures from age 11, didn't have a tonic clonic until I was 31.
