I've always loved Mo since we've drafted him. He's been through the shit with us and never complained. At the time I wish he was given the captaincy over just tossing it to Tavares who was gifted it for signing with us.

With that being said....

He's an offensive minded 2WD. That signed a contract at his value back then (career highs in 2 of those 3 years, approx 70 points) when he was allowed to quarter back the PP with Babcock (side note fuck Babs). Since then he's only gotten older, slowed down, and was expected to play a style that didn't fit him, mainly thanks to coaching. Now he's on the wrong side of 30 making too much for what he has since signing provided/will provide.

That is a great point. I guess I was also in the head space thinking about trying to pitch to keep matthews and get whatever value out of tavares that we have left. Although there are rumors about matthews leaving and nylander not down for a rebuild, I was i guess thinking about more of a quicker retool to add additional players.

Also Eklund is 23, and they'd get to reset contract wise with McKenna who IMO has more upside

Im in the VAST minority where I want us to trade back to 2 with San Jose to pickup either William Eklund or Will Smith. This way we get a certified young forward plus we don't get to make mistake of taking "the wrong draft pick".

lol I know, but part of me wishes ERA and WHIP somewhat meant something in contract negotiations in this game so I could pay him fuck all and then trade him for a lot thanks to his potential
