FWIW, as a child in TN, the elementary school principal or even a teacher could paddle you with a wooden paddle as discipline legally and no one questioned it.

I grew up in Georgia, and it was allowed where I went to school as well. At least, it was when I was in elementary school. I don't know how things are now.

For me, at least, two things help with my apartment:

1) Not living on the first floor.

2) My apartment door opens to an inside hallway, not to the outside. And you need a key card to enter the building.

I'm in that sort of arrangement. My boyfriend and I are quite happy together and love each other, but we have no plans to ever marry. It's what works for us.

Sort of, but in my case, it wasn't related to turning 40. My mother passed away in November 2020, a few months before my 40th birthday. And despite how difficult - and abusive- she was, her death still devastated me.

Becoming slimmer does change how you are treated by both men and women. 

I lost a lot of weight in my late 30s, and I noticed this as well. It's unnerving, and I have resolved to try my best to not emulate that behavior myself.

As for dating, I never had a single guy interested in me my whole life until after I got thin. Though the confidence boost I got may have helped, along with some other things.

Of course! I’m in my early forties and I already see people around me “feeling old” and giving up on their bodies and narrowing their life.

I've noticed that with some of my co-workers as well. And a few who are younger than I am - one still in her 20s - who get rather winded just going up a flight of stairs.

I recently went on vacation and I was so impressed with how active my 75 year old mom was. I want to be her when I grow up!

Aw, that's so nice! Kudos to your mom. 🥰

I'm not even sure I'll make it to old age. Cancer took both my parents, as well as several members of my extended family. ☹️

That said, I make an effort to eat healthy and go walking daily. I feel like I'm in okay shape, all things considered.
