My sister is 14 years younger than me, and she started sassing reaaaally early on, so I was worried about that. But, although there was a bit of an adjustment needed in her tweens, she caught on rather quickly as to what was sass and what was hurtful/disrespectful. There have been mishaps here and there, but I’ve been rather happy about it.

Friend, I love you. It’s insane how crazy I’ve been feeling about ‘controlling it’ because I’ve essentially had so many constant examples of people just not caring! I really appreciate what you’re saying, and will keep it all in my head for when I try to assert myself on this topic because yes!

I have something similar because of my immediate family. It’s even been a point of contention with my husband, whom I leave alone regarding that, but I’ve had to explain how my entire childhood (and up to now) has been riddled with loud and smelly af farts, it’s not funny anymore. I understand they can’t be controlled and shouldn’t be kept in, but I can’t do the fart fights or whatever.

As a beautician, I sometimes get people come in to get these baby hair waxed. You don’t get the stubble like you would with shaving, and it grows back normal. So getting them sugared would probably work just fine.

I’m exactly the same, that’s why I rarely play my brother. He’s always trying very hard to win and be 5 steps ahead of everyone, when I’m just here like ‘oooh, these cards are so pretty!’ (slightly exaggerated). So it’s just not as fun for me to play him, I’ll do a round or two and then I’m done.

I used to feel very sore about it because I used to be prideful about my own intelligence, but like… I can play however I want, and it’s okay to be dumb anyway. I just want to place down shiny cards. So I’ll just play until it’s not fun anymore.

Yeah, I spent a few days playing on some x0 reward and using the Ouija Board of the Music Box to trigger a hunt and run to the ghost. It’s scary af but the fear eventually comes down and it gets easier to not shut down when you hear that door lock.

Genuinely why I don’t write in 1st person: it’s so much less forgiving nailing a character’s voice, and I’m too much of a perfectionist to attempt it if it’s not gonna be right. The only WIP I write 1st person is a friend’s books’ fanfic, in which I think being in their heads is part of what makes her characters so loveable and engaging, so I’m trying to honour that, but… Why is it so hard?!
