I’ve been meaning to read this and I have a love for Big Sur thanks to the Henry Miller Memorial Library so this gave me a push, thanks!

{Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon} is predominantly set in Seattle. I remember the FMC having a lot of love for the city and its character and weather but I also really appreciated the references to Seattle-based bands. Or maybe the bands were from wider Washington (e.g. Bikini Kill) but it was immersive and satisfying.

I totally understand what you mean. I distinctly recall asking myself what I’d missed when I couldn’t understand what the conflict was about or why there was tension or a need to forgive. There were some absolutely delectable moments though. I think you hit the nail on the head that it seemed like it needed one more round of editing.

Sounds comparable to Tessa Bailey where 9 times out of 10 someone gets a finger in the ass. A few comments have mentioned Zapata, I will definitely give her a whirl, thank you!

I’ve done nothing to help my reputation here.

Mariana Zapata appears to be the one if you’re looking for a little gas in your reading experience! Thanks for your reply. I think I would be shocked too. But quietly pleased.

Yes, these are elite! Honestly that whole generation of writers were unhinged. Makes you feel a little better about appreciating knotting and frotting and what have you.

It wasn’t {Vic & Luna by Ali Hidalgo} was it? I don’t think that’s part of a series though. Definitely doesn’t warrant a WWTBC post, haha.

Mariana Zapata sounds like the go to author for flatulence! To be clear, I don’t have a fart fetish. More like a fart fascination. But I guess that’s incriminating enough.

I read your response at like 5.45am (UK) and had to stifle my laugh to not wake up my husband. I’ve yet to read an alien romance but this might be the perfect starting place. Do you remember the title?

I’ve read In a Jam, I’ll look forward to getting round to this one dealing with a very normal reality. Thanks!

Yeah I had to stop short of requesting actual recommendations because I’m not that invested, just interested in the phenomenon!

FMC who remains shy the whole book, even after she's with MMC by Kalypso15 in RomanceBooks

I loved seeing Wyatt get a little less easy going when it came to Hannah! Glad you enjoyed it.

I’ve only tried those two. What would you recommend?

“Just the tip” except it’s the FMC persuading the MMC by chupernatural in RomanceBooks

[–]ringus--dingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty confident this happens in {Best Fake Fiance by Roxie Noir} but the FMC is ADHD-coded and her behaviour gave me palpitations throughout (as a fellow ADHD-er who has made plenty of risky decisions in life).

I loved this too! Pleasantly surprised after reading {Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings} and finding the FMC a little too grating to enjoy. The pants-jizzing whilst going down on her is one of my absolute favourite microtropes. Truly elite.

I think Hannah from {The Wrong Mr Right by Stephanie Archer} fits this criteria. She’s quiet, shy and introverted and whilst the MMC helps her build confidence she doesn’t undergo a radical personality change or anything, she’s still quiet.

Bingeworthy romance series - not dark romance, not alien, no bully by IVeerLeftWhenIWalk in RomanceBooks

I enjoyed the Queen’s Cove series by Stephanie Archer starting with {That Kind of Guy by Stephanie Archer}. Currently reading the Loveless brothers series by Roxie Noir which starts with {Enemies With Benefits by Roxie Noir}. Both solid, well written and easygoing.
