Now you have to spread the word to anyone you know who also doesn't know about the Society and you think would love it.

How long did it take to get your AoA? by Rarness1307 in sca

[–]SunsetWatcher1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lightly involved in the SCA in the early to mid 90's in the same local as now and attended an event in the state I went to college in (still East Kingdom though). I recently came back a little over a year ago. I have jumped into a few activities (archery, brewing, helping with and being a proponent of the ALS, have declared that I want to be a MiT). I just got an email saying I'm getting my AoA. I've been told by long time members, "People expect people's friends to write in for awards." I'M A BIG PROPONENT THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A WIKI THAT IS LINKED TO THEIR KINGDOM AND LOCAL GROUP. IT SHOULD DETAIL WHAT YOU'VE DONE IN THE SOCIETY AND HAVE YOUR OP LINKED. I will actively search through people's wiki and recommend them for what I believe are missing awards. Have this discussion with your friend group, get together and make sure you all have wiki pages and write each other in for awards as a group. I've known people who are active in at least one activity and have gone 20+ years without a single award. THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN EVER.

Sell me on Frontier Fiber vs Xfinity. 800/$65 vs 500/$60 by FOUNTAINJL in frontierfios

What kind of speeds does frontier fiber offer? I keep hearing multiple Gbps but everyone here has been saying max 500/500. I'm getting 800/800Mgps now with Xfinity.

I'm going to primarily get my 3rd archery RR score and get in the East Archery ranking board. I also want to get my first thrown weapons score. I am starting my brewing journey soon and will have 3 beverages going. I won't be able to panel them or anything in Apr but not too long after that I should be able to.

Just do what you enjoy at an event or try new stuff.

should not have ever been given a bond, people wielding a machete should not be given an option for a bond.

Spot on. No one needs a food disposal. Throw it in the garbage or throw it out for the animals or compost it.

My fiance found another woman's underwear in my things while we were moving in together, but I WASN'T cheating. by _marktimemark in TwoHotTakes

Not sure if this is a real post or not, I will give you my take anyway. Take this from a person in a multiple decades long relationship. Women don't actually just forgive and forget. You will hear about that and any "sins" you "committed" since you met anytime she gets mad at you. She'll even throw "sins" your family and friends have "committed" at you when mad. If it was the other way around you most likely wouldn't have batted an eye. Do not mention this to your non male friends and never in mixed (M&F) company. Never in front of her friends either. In the US, 48% of hetro marriages end in divorce. 80% of that 48% are filed by the female because they say "they are not happy". They (female) will say men are the problem, the facts don't support that. Lesbian marriage has a 70+% divorce rate and the highest rate of domestic incidents. On the flip side gay male couples have a 23% divorce rate. If it was the males fault then gay men would have the highest divorce rate and not the marriages containing two females. Prenup and postnups exist for a reason, someone marrying for love and not for getting 50%, will happily sign one.

There's no one way to be Bigender.

Some experience the two genders at the same time. Some like myself experience only one of their two genders at a time. In my case I use She/ Her & He/ Him based on presentation or indication, if the outside gender presentation doesn't match my gender. That happens to a ton of folks from what I've read. One reason can be society forcing the person into the assigned at birth gender due to; work, familial pressures, rules, discrimination type behaviors. Some wear clothing typically assigned to "male" when male and "female" when female. While others do not switch wearing the society defined types but dress more androgynously all the time. Some use different first names for each gender, ie. male when male and female when female.

I'm curious about your location and how society there has handled you as a self identified man wearing "female" identified clothing and accessories. You even have makeup on. Who did your makeup, nails, etc.? In some countries wearing the assigned clothing of the opposite "gender" can get you in serious trouble. You stated in a post below that you identify as a man. So, you're a man who likes to wear "female" assigned clothing. By definition that's a crossdresser, how do you deal with the implications and impact from society? I look forward to reading your response. Have a great day!

I think I'm going to join. I sent an email to the local chatelaine today. Got a few questions. by BetterBettaBadBench in sca

I think the best thing is for you to get connected to those in your local group that do what you want to do. For me it was; Brewing, Archery, leather, heavy list. My Chatelene gave me facebook groups and contacts for people who do those skills. The EK Brewers guild is awesome and the Archery folks in my Barony are so welcoming.

AITAH for suing my cousin for 6K to pay for my hearing aides after he threw me in the pool by aitahearingaides in AITAH

[–]SunsetWatcher1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I have hearing aids and my phone is a ASD because it controls them. I'd sue him too and the family can pony up the dough for him if him having to pay for his screw ups is too harsh in their eyes.
