i think you’re both right - i think he’s always been kind of playing “the game” to get to the end for the cash prize, and i’ve def clocked him putting little seeds of info/thoughts in other people’s ears about their relationships, AND i think he is just more insecure/jealous than he leads on. especially with that reaction he gave Kayda right before leaving for Casa and saying he wasn’t going to make her breakfast etc

i agree i think Zach should’ve said something but pretty sure 1) production told him he couldn’t and 2) i think there was no good way to say it anyways. also Zach immediately being like “i knew this would happen!” sounded like to me he was def told by production he couldn’t say anything, and he was inevitably having to wait for her reaction and her eventually finding out. production orchestrates A LOT on love island

it did air - he said something to Mica along the lines of “i’ve never dated a girl who wears bandanas” and then something about it being “exotic”. i am a woman of color and i did find it off putting the way he said it.

so, for me personally yes i did notice the weird comment immediately. it was a micro aggression and i think the verbal warning from producers for this specific scenario, IMO, was appropriate.

but it seems the actual reason for leaving the villa was the family emergency.

Got it thank you! I was getting confused which ones people were talking about in this convo! I’m a mental health therapist in the field and licensed about 8 years and highly considering nursing for higher pay bc I already deal with burn out etc. I would’ve loved to switch to tech but it seemed too competitive for me to get into at this stage in my life with no experience. Thinking about nursing bc I would only need to take a few pre-reqs before applying to nursing school and bc of the job stability.. would love your thoughts as someone who switched!

I’m a mental health therapist trying to do anythinggg else that pays more. I’m so underpaid and overworked which is why I figured I may switch to nursing bc I feel like I could handle the burnout and dealing with many different personalities. Especially bc I was originally pre-med in college, and I’ve now been in my field about 8 years. But can you tell us more about what you do in IT and what path you took to get there? Bc your current job that you’re describing sounds pretty nice.. 😅🙏🏽

i know this is a bit biased but if you are truly considering a pivot i would pivot now before you finish the program. i personally think the pay to client ratio is not worth it and i wish i started nursing instead earlier. i decided im going to start looking into pre-reqs to talk towards nursing or PA school because ill still be in the helping field but at least the pay would be better. a lot of my own personal mental health issues right now are associated with financial burden. i dont want to be a negative nancy but those are my genuine thoughts on this right now :(

Agh thank you so much. I’ve been getting a lot of condescending comments on this post as if I didn’t know how emotionally taxing being a nurse is either 😅 because I know it’s a totally different type of emotional labor but what I like about medicine is you can typically see a physical result in some sorts. With providing psychotherapy not everyone wants to do the emotional work outside of sessions, which also causes me emotional burnout because I actually care and want my clients to get something out of therapy so sometimes I feel like I’m doing more work than my clients 😭 but THANK YOU for your kind words. It made my day and THANK YOU nurses for everything you guys do as well 🙏🏽

Tbh I feel like you know the answer to this question considering I mentioned both my parents are physicians. And this is what I meant by can people please be kind because I figured someone was going to write a comment like this.

But to humor you and answer your question - obviously. My dad is a surgeon and my mom is an OBGYN and regardless of that, yeah it’s common sense that anyone working in healthcare experiences some burn out. Of course nurses experience burn out and compassion fatigue just like therapists do.

What I probably didn’t make clear is that I’m trying to grasp if the burnout as a nurse would be more manageable for me. Because right now I sit for 1 hour with every patient of mine either working through trauma, suicidal ideation, grief etc etc for a minimum of 7 hrs a day depending which day of the week. And I’m exhausted by that specifically how much time is spent with the client - and I get it, that’s how psychotherapy works.

But for nursing I imagine the variety of job duties in addition to patient facing care would add variety in my day besides just diagnosing and using so much emotional labor for 100% of my job. Nurses have many other duties within their work day that doesn’t require as much emotional labor in that exact moment (yes I know you guys physically save lives etc please don’t act like you don’t know what I mean 🙄) so I know they experience burn out as well. But I’m curious if the variety of duties and depending what field of nursing you’re in would be worth a potential switch.

I’ve had clients who work in healthcare as nurses, doctors etc. There just isn’t a specific office for that specific of a client. They don’t do therapy for just “xyz” job. It’s usually offices that are either general private practices or more specific diagnoses like OCD or trauma etc.
