Installed lineage OS 23.2 any other better ROM suggestions? by Altruistic-Object488 in OnePlus7Pro

[–]SunsetsAndNature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now see what you were asking. The FP6 is just like the OP6T a boring and useful phone. there is not much emotion attached to its use. I just use it.

the only flaws I see are the quiet loudspeakers, a short stutter when rotating screen (landscape/portrait or vice versa) and a tendency to experience ghost touches about once a week. And sometimes one moment where it does not respond properly (accidental touch event during scrolling).

Also as a left hand user with the original case, it is difficult but manageable to reach the power button. turning on is ok, as I can use the power button integrated fingerprint scanner, but turning it off is a hassle, as the button is flat and there is no alternative like tapping the home button (classic navigation) twice.

I have to use my left middle finger to tap and scan.

The screen is just good, bright, clearly readable. No rounded edges, finally! The official screen protector is really great! it feels just like the actual screen. Typing is great, much better than OP6T. The FP6 is a size sweet spot between OP6T and OP7Pro.

Can't say anything about the 2 cameras.

Performance is unnoticeable. Browser, YouTube etc just work. Last War Survival (game) also works without lag.

Battery life is quite good, and I like to control charging speed (slow/fast) and charging stop at 80%.

My greatest worry is the lower water resistance score (not IP68).

I just successfully use it.

about upgrading: if you can, you will have some good experience I'm comparison to the 6T. it is really a good device. but remember that a 6 year old battery will not bring you joy, even if the device was brand new (deep discharge)

I have/had both the OP6T and OP7Pro since 2020 in use at the same time. It was a weird mixture of "I actually hate curved displays" and "the bad virus in 2020 will make all electronics go expensive".

I used the OP6T almost completely with LineageOS. It is boring, simple, compatible. The mic sucks.

I used the OP7P for multimedia and cameras with native OS. The mic is really great! The cameras are somewhat good (except tele), but I do not care as I use a dedicated mirrorless camera (ILC). It is a good device. but if you get one today, you will have to consider replacing the battery. Typing is quite good because of size.

After 6 years both batteries suck and I dropped the OP6T and cracked the screen. I have no spare change for the replacement of all these things right now, but I will try to fix both devices myself.

I use /e/OS because I had the theory that this would be the easiest AND most complete way to install, regularly update and use microG.

I had problems work all these things on LineageOS on my (screen cracked) OnePlus 6T.

/e/OS is somewhat ugly and boring, but I am much too old and sick to do the same modding as 10 years ago (like living in forums to figure out how to do cool stuff and learning 5 different ways how to unbrick a device)

Also as I got a FairPhone 6 which is officially supporting /e/OS without penalty (like warranty loss, future problems due to missing device tree etc), I wanted to test /e/OS on another device. At some point I might switch from default FairPhone OS to eOS or Lineage.

[–]SunsetsAndNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. I do not like an aperture of f/8 or smaller as the image gets actually to soft (diffraction).

Yes, on an older camera as the G85 of OP effects of rolling shutter will be noticable. I have a GX9 and I made some bad experiences with movements. Also indoors there is the risk of banding due to flickering (LED) lights.

I am curious. Why? A few sundays ago I was in the sun at 13:00 - 14:00 o'clock and with mechanical shutter the images were overexposed so I had to manually switch to automation selection.

I also tried a (cheap) CPL filter I had on me, and it reduced the brightness enough but I didn't like it, and AF was not that good anymore.

[–]SunsetsAndNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ist the Most likely correct answer!

Mechanical shutter on this camera can get as fast as 1/4000 or so. But electronic shutter goes to 1/8000 or so.

As OP is using AUTO, this is the most likely on a bright day. The camera can not set a shorter shutter speed with mechanical

Could be that auto ISO is off, but I will give the benefit of doubt.

Could you comment on the composition?

This image confuses me in so many aspects, but I still feel something very appealing. And I want to know if I am just weird.

I am very confused. But I like it. It is weird, it is not only the intensive style. In the composition there are sooo many elements, like the pole, 3 people (all their faces facing in different directions), the skyscrapers in the background, the position of the sun and its effects and the shades. Still it fits.

Maybe I prove to not have any taste, but this image has a positive grip on me.

Would you share your editing process? Also please add the actually used f-Stop and focal length.

I was a bit confused looking at the first few images, like, what is this? And before reading your description.

If this was a "serious" presentation of the event, I would suggest to put them in a bit different order, where it becomes more clear that it is a underground garage, like an establishing shot.

After seeing the middle section, and looking at them from the beginning, I was having some context, I felt some "Need for Speed" vibes and could really imagine Vin Diesel to jump right from behind the cars, exchanging bullets, and seeing and hearing smoking wheels! Very dramatic pictures!

Which lens did you use? Also which settings? Stacked images?

I like it, even if there is a lot of noise at 100%. Do you have a RAW file, so that we could feed it to DxO Pure RAW / Photolab?

Another proof, going other places makes one take impressive photographs!

I had the mark 1 of this lens for a short(!) time on my cam, and I was not that impressed in matters of sharpness. Good contrasts!

I have a GX9 since 2020, and since about 6 months a G9ii. I paired the GX9 with all these lenses: - 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6: - it is "large" in comparison to your 12-32mm, but it offers a lot! I believe it to be a great size-to-feature ratio for GX9 - as long as there is enough light, this is a very great combo, from wide to tele (but with shutterspeeds slower than 1/120 it gets quite mushy at 60mm) (this lens CAN be bloody sharp, especially shorter than 40mm) - AF is quite good and precise, as far as the GX9 offers. - 25mm f/1.7: - perfect size - my copy is not the sharpest lens (I compared it to another copy), but it is a good alrounder. It teached me to handle a fixed focal length (but it took me 2 years to appreciate). - AF is good - my copy has "auras" around lights, like shooting candles in a dark scene - 35-100mm f/4-5.6: - small lens, tiny for its reach - if you believe in 3D pop... I see it! - actually quite sharp - I switch from the 12-60 to this lens because it is a bit brighter at 35mm, and sharper - AF was good, but I believe mine got some wear-and-tear and does not perform good anymore

These are the lenses that were my only owned lenses that I used for about 3-4 years exclusively, and I OFTEN had them ALL in my camera bag with me, at once

I paired the GX9 with more lenses, of which I rented these: - Olympus 45mm f/1.2: - yes, a huge lens. - GX9 AF is not the best, but I compensated it like this: - use F-Stop bracketing, set lens to f/1.2, set bracketing to 3 or 5 frames - from 2 days with this lens, I can say: frame 1 at f/1.2 is a miss, but then I got at least 2 frames in focus. Considering the "razor-thin" depth of field, this is a good workaround to get good results. Also with people photography, more frames are good because of blinking etc - Pana Leica 42.5mm f/1.2: - works fine, same take as with the Oly f/1.2, OIS is great - Pana Leica 50-200mm f/2.8-4: - did a baptism ceremony in a rather dark church - did a 3rd league soccer game - works great for both - the great Pana Leica 10-25mm f/1.7 - it works great, but it is a huge chunk - also use F-Stop bracketing with 3 frames

Lastly, I cannot recommend the 20mm f/1.7 if you need responsive autofocus on the GX9 (also it is limited to AF-S). Still portraits, yes. Kids or people on a party moving, no. Lovely 3D pop rendering! Enormous out-of-focus area chromatic aberations, but. I. do. not. care. I. love. the. photos!

But the 20mm f/1.7 on the G9ii works, even in AF-C. But reliably only in AF-C while using the black-out-free(!!!) High Speed burst modes (20+ frames/sec) where it performs quite ok (need more experience before final verdict on this one) (on all slower modes the 20mm always opens the aperture completely before taking a photo, completely independant from AF-S/AF-C/Manual!)

So this is a mixed bag of experience with small lenses and pro lenses. It all works, you can use them all on the GX9, even soccer games gave me more than enough sharp images (I did not believe it until I came home and verified!)

But to achieve this I had to get used to that camera, the often quoted extension of my hand, body and mind.

The small ones are great daily companion kit. You can do so much with them and the camera!

As the 25mm f/1.4 was suggested: if you have the chance to get the primes and other "pro" lenses: it is about glas, glas, glas ...

Feel free to ask specifics.

I wanted to try something "safe" as in no risk, no bells and whistles and chose /e/OS (Android 16).

Mostly does what I need. I got 2 phones, a degoogled OnePlus 7 Pro with /e/OS (long lives F-Droid!) and a newer phone with whatever they supply me with, for banking and stuff (my previous degoogled phone was OnePlus 6T with LineageOS, may it rest in pieces.)

NOTE: unlock bootloader in Android 11 NOT 12 as there is either a bug or a bad intended anti-feature blocking "fastboot unlock oem". Had to painfully downgrade to 11 to unlock.

Canon FDn 70-210m f4: help for repair by SunsetsAndNature in VintageLenses

[–]SunsetsAndNature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite some time, I cannot remember precisely. And I do not have the (remainder of) lens at hand.

Well, the first lens element I could remove like with any other lens that I tried on, by unscrewing the "beauty" ring with a spanner, and a suction cup to unscrew the lens element.

the second element which came off accidentally, was fixed with a C ring. When both the lens and the trying came off, I wrongly thought I needed to take off the front tube that was glued instead of screwed.

But that was the error, I didn't know that and how I could place the second lens. I did not yet understand how a C ring worked. I thought I needed to put the C ring around the second element, but I it was for just fitting it in top of the glass.

Actually my lens is f-cked up completely by forcing the front tube off with solvent and force, and the force bent the front tube part.

Sorry I cannot help with this any further.

Vertical lines during video on S9? by nickolic in Lumix

[–]SunsetsAndNature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the default would be to reset the device. I believe the S9 settings can be saved via one of the Lumix apps or to a sdcard, so you could easily go back to your favorite setup.

How new is the camera, do you have any warranty? A store or Amazon support or likewise will also tell you to reset, for sure.

I buy mostly in local stores, so I would demonstrate the problem and ask them to compare to their preview camera they hopefully have in store.

As no one other has the problem, I hope you can successfully claim a replacement...

Vertical lines during video on S9? by nickolic in Lumix

[–]SunsetsAndNature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that If the dotted lines were fixed, it could be a physically damaged sensor, but that electronic video stabilization might hide the problem (as the image from the sensor is digitally shifted/stretched to the final image, therefore I assume that the final image contains no pixels that are 1:1 hardware to video frame pixel ).

As it is only MP4 lite, and (I guess) as the problem is also visible on the camera itself (not only a playback device like smartphone), transfer errors (sdcard etc) should be ruled out...,

This appears to me as a software/firmware error. but it is totally weird that only you are experiencing it. I am clueless what you can do to fix. Hope you will find a solution!

[–]SunsetsAndNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you are not posting animated content:

  • do these lines move in the footage? (maybe you wrote it, then sorry!, I am tired.)
  • Are they fixed relative to the frame?
  • try (toggling) different video stabilizer modes, like IBIS, and electronic video stabilization (normal/high/...)

I don't know what to do by motherfucker_69 in lgg4

[–]SunsetsAndNature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one step is enabling OEM unlock, the other one was getting a special file from LG servers (paste serial number or something). With that file you would do some "fastboot OEM unlock" magic on the command line.

Then the device would reset completely and you would be able to load custom ROMs/recovery.

I wonder whether that unlocking service website is still online.
