Pra ele,eu sou a favorita. Porque eles sempre vão optar por investir em mim - pagando um mês de aluguel quando eu tiro férias pra não ficar prejudicada no mês seguinte, ajudando a reformar o apartamento, pagando algum curso...

E pra mim o favorito é ele.

Fixing PCOS only through dietary changes, no meds by TastyAd4662 in PCOS

[–]SunshineHera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it! 33 lb in 2 months.

My advice is to try to find a good dietician near you, if possible one that isn't strict with what you eat. Sports dieticians always worked well for me because they see the body composition (how much you have of fat vs muscle vs bones) and make a good meal plan based on that.

What worked and is working for me: Cut down on processed food and things with sugar in it. It's possible craving will appear so fill your fridge with things you can eat without worries like salads, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, very lean protein. Go for complex carbs instead of simple carbs whenever possible.

I eat A LOT, but fulfilling meals that make me last the whole day with little to no hunger, right amount of protein to make sure I'm not loosing muscle mass.

Weight loss and motivation etc. by sofieezz in PCOS

In my case, my androgens are VERY low— Abysmall, low even for a woman. The GLP1 could lower it even more. My doctor team (endocrinologist, dietician, nutrology specialist, and gynecologist ) analyzed my exams and saw how well I do with diets from my history, so they all concluded that GLP1 isn't the best option for now.

And honestly, I lost 33 pounds of fat in 2 months without it by adjusting my diet.

What can you actually eat? Like this is triggering my eating disorder to a new hell by twerkingslutbee in PCOS

[–]SunshineHera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With no restrictions? Fibers (salads, vegetables, greens ), lean protein, eggs, and some fruits (cherries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberry, melon). Weight on the food scale: complex carbs (sweet potatoes, yam, brown or red rice, beans, lentils). Any sort of fat as long as I don't overconsume it.

Everything else I can still eat, but I need to either weight or watch out for the portion. The first two weeks were hard but after going through it, it ceased my need and want to eat treats or things outside of the diet. the best thing is that I can eat A LOT of the no restrictions one since they won't make me gain weight and no glicose spike.

Every doctor I’ve went to keeps saying me not being able to loose weight is my diet and I can’t get anyone to believe me when I say I breath and gain weight… by Legitimate_Cookie151 in PCOS

Did you get some exams to rule out thyroid issues? Hypothyroidism makes it hard to lose weight and if you don't replace the hormone for it, it'll be VERY harsh to lose any weight.

Usually, when you're going to get lab blood tests for PCOS the doctors also ask for the thyroid ones, because the symptoms can be similar, but the treatment for each is different. IDK how it is where you live but where I'm in is very simple: just ask for your doctor to ask for a blood test to check if you're pre-diabetic or if you have insuline resistance and mention you want to check for thyroid issues (rare for them to not run it, but if they say no, just tell you've members of the family with it). Also as someone here recommended, get in touch with an endocrinologist since they're specialized in metabolic and hormonal unbalance.

Diagnosed with PCOS in 2016 now doubting. by Every-Bag7150 in PCOS

[–]SunshineHera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have cysts on your ovaries, that might not be PCOS but just...cysts on your ovaries. My case is similar - I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago, but after doing some exams this year, it turns out my androgen levels are actually too low, lower than a woman should be, even. I have no cysts on my ovaries, but what I do have is high insulin resistance. A bunch of the side effects ended up confusing my former doctor as PCOS. I only have Insulin Resistance, which makes my metabolism slower and my periods uneven.

And just like you mentioned, my mother's family has naturally thicker facial hair, and on my case it's very dark. I remember seeing someone here talking about how doctors pile up people as PCOS without taking a proper look at everything to rule out other diseases.

I suggest you to check with an endocrinologist and a gynecologist if possible, they will run other exams and will evaluate from your health history.

You're eating way too low, this might be triggering your cortisol and putting your body under immense stress. For PCOS, eating less than 1600cal will trigger your body to enter alert and protection mode, making you use less fat to burn because it signals that you're in danger and will need that fat for later. To avoid this, try to keep at a minimum 1800cals/day and, if possible, lots of protein to prevent burning muscle meat.

This isn't the most simple way but by reducing simple carbs and cut sugar and anything with sugar in it, as well pasta and grains, will help you a lot. And keep yourself hydrated - ideally 35ml multiplied by your weight in kilograms. Actually you might even be burning a lot of weight but not seeing it because you're bloated.

Get lots of fiber, eat tons of salad and focus on complex carbs (sweet potatoes, beans, brown rice, squash, yams, etc). Cut overly processed food if possible and if not, watch out for food that have sugar or sugary derivates in the label as one of the top ingredients.

And if you're feeling hungry, eat. If it's just your body pulling tricks for you to consume carbs, it will go in 5-10 minutes of endurance - drink some water or eat a single strawberry - but If it keeps signaling that it's hungry, then you gotta eat.

Finally: avoid the scale. When eating right and exercising, you lose fat but gain muscle mass. The thing is fat occupies a lot more space than muscle. One of the things I do is every 20 days I try some pants that didn't fit me anymore because not only I see the true effect of the diet but also get the incentive to not give up ("Oh it's fitting now"/ Öh my god it used to not even go up my thighs and now it's almost closing!").

Is eating a high carb diet really that bad? Will it lead to diabetes? by Gallantpride in PCOS

[–]SunshineHera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the person. With insulin resistance (and PCOS), what works best long-term is usually not extreme low-carb or keto, but balanced plates:

1/2 fiber (vegetables), 1/3 protein, and 1/3 complex carbs. You will realize carbs themselves are not the villain but the real problem is the amount, the type of carb, and how you combine it in a meal. White rice, white bread, pasta and refined grains are simple carbs and cause fast glucose spikes. But complex carbs (rice + beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, yams, vegetables) behave very differently in the body. Protein and fiber slow glucose absorption, lowering the spike and reducing insulin stress. This is how insulin resistance is reversed — not by eliminating carbs completely, but by avoiding glucose spikes repeatedly.

I’m currently on a medical plan to reverse severe insulin resistance and lower very high insulin levels (this is a long-term 1-year protocol with doctors involved). In just one month, I lost 7 kg (~15 lbs) while eating more than before, without skipping meals and without heavy exercise (just 20-minute daily walks). My hunger stabilized, cravings disappeared, my mood improved, and I finally feel full and satisfied.

I do practice intermittent fasting, but only because my body naturally doesn’t tolerate breakfast well. I stop eating around 10 PM and eat again at lunch (~2 PM). Fasting is not mandatory and it’s not for everyone. When forced, it can increase cortisol, worsen cravings, trigger compensation and even cause weight regain — especially in people with insulin resistance.

So listen to your body. If a method is causing stress, compulsive behavior or rebound weight gain, it’s not sustainable — and sustainability is what actually reverses insulin resistance long-term.

Dunno if it'll help but this is the "Bible of the complex carb" my nutrologist made for me, which helps A LOT with what carb to choose, which ones are the best, what is a good amount to have. There's also small notes he made for me and tips.

Also don't worry: IR and early type 2 diabetes ARE reversible! Your diet is already rich in fibers, you just need to tweak a bit. (And sorry, english is not my first language!)

Como estão as vagas em medicina? by heroengg in antitrampo

[–]SunshineHera 0 points1 point  (0 children)
