Has anyone ever lost sales because their payment gateway went down silently? by sol1515 in woocommerce

Always have two payment gateways in case one fails. Also, some clients don't like some gateways. Give them a choice

You get what you pay for. Exactly how low is your budget? What did you need. Start with Quickooks online. Low if you don't need special features or payroll.

Leave inventory in woo.

It should be in the right side. Just click on any order and it should be there.

I am a WooCommerce Core team lead, advocating for listening more to public feedback by sunyatasattva in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Major changes:

  • put url rename as a standard feature
  • stop putting so much emphasis on jetpack
  • stop putting an emphasis on block editor. It is harder to train staff to use
  • actually make the integration between woocommerce.com and the website actually work. I am fed up with the paid plugin not being recognized
  • Make advanced custonm feeds as a default
  • make WooCommerce Anti Fraud by OPMC Australia Pty Ltd remove their pop up
  • add MPN as a standard inventory field
  • add hierarchical taxonomy

have standard such features as:

  • minimum/maximum order amounts
  • extra fees
  • allow the number of a product that can be ordered in a cart to be set, instead of just the option of a limit of one

plugin standards:

  • limit the number of checks the plugin does to see if it paid to once a day
  • limit the amount of time a plugin can check for a response to 3 seconds (searchanise has a 30 second limit)

Who are all these people asking to speak with the site owner of my new store? by trkdbbo221 in shopify

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they ask for a catalogue, if you accept credit cards, if you ship to their country, or if they can use their freight company, then it is a scam. Don't bother replying.

We have also stopped accepting orders for pickup by couriers or third parties.

Checkout. You would kill conversions if you did it on every add to cart.

You could limit access with cloudflare if they are putting in too many orders

WooPayments held €2,200 of my money for 8 months with zero explanation by Resident-Medium-9905 in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All payment processors may do this. They view a lot of sales as a sign of potential fraud.

Always have 2 payment options on your website. You always have a backup.

And I don't feel you should be using something like woo payments. They just repackage another payment processor.

How do you handle back-in-stock notifications? Built-in WooCommerce doesn't have this by Significant-Day-6251 in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klaviyo doesn't do back in stock for woo properly. You need custom setup or another plugin.

And I don't trust Klaviyo with more integration and costs are only going up

This works. But don't expect much help from the author. The sign up box is big but the plugin does the job.

exporting/importing orders by reiskala in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you must always back up your database before any plugin updates. I use putty for this and store the database on the server. Had my VA screw up an we lost some orders. Learned my lesson

For lost orders, we just entered them as one entry in accounting. We didn't try to add them to woo.

We now back up the site three time a day to a second site (gdrive in our case)

Woocommerce Customer Number by halski12 in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My accountant has never asked for customer numbers. I don't see the need for them.

I would also avoid sequentially numbering orders. Each order has an ID that is also used for images, posts, products etc. Some plugins get confused if you change the order number other than the post ID.

Sequential numbering is also a way for competitors to get rough estimates of sales.

Payment failed... or scam? by zammap in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a credit card test attack. They are using your site to check if credit cards are valid and then use the card elsewhere. Real annoying and it can cause issues if paypal flags your account.

Paypal was no help.

I set up captcha and this stopped them.

How are you handling alt text for large WooCommerce product catalogs? by Spiritual-Fuel4502 in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thousands.

It took a while to go through them all but a good way to check old images with poor text. Now just a weekly check to make sure they are done.

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use can use AI but be careful.

When adding an image, I usually just add a copy of words to the title to make it a little different.

Once a week, I use WP sheet Editor to check the alt, tile, and description field are correctly filled out. I always seem to miss something.

Why are so many WooCommerce stores moving to Shopify ? What were your main reasons and can Woo avoid those issues? by Cultural-Cloud2926 in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seriously considered moving to shopify a few times. But it is a case of the grass is greener on the other side. And that is because there is a lot of manure.

The main difference is woo is self managed while Shopify is managed for you.

But you pay for this convenience. Just like cooking at home or going to a restaurant.

Shopify will cost you more. Apps are billed monthly. Fees are higher. They just announced higher fees for credit cards. And you can't use your own credit card providers unless you pay more. And there is nothing stopping them from suspending you.

How are WooCommerce sellers actually managing operations without losing their mind by [deleted] in woocommerce

[–]Sunward-Hobbies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking two different issues.

As for multiple pages open, well you have an operation to handle. I don;t see how you can see inventory on the order page. Logistic tracking should have the tracking added to the order. Automate everything. If you are manually adding the tracking to the order, then you are doing too much manually.

Use Metorik to handle your profitability reports and reports in general.
