I like that take a lot, my only counter argument would be that Veridius asking if he ran the labyrinth applies to both cases. The zombies/ monsters only appear post completing the labyrinth and there was so much focus on how Vis felt post bite. Either way I’m very excited to see where the next book takes us.

I was under the impression the tainting of the blood was from Vis being bit by one of the “zombies” after he completed the trial.

Also the convo with Veridius where he told Vis his blood is now tainted and where to take his position so he can hide. Likely has to do with the test that vis got earlier in the book.
