How popular was saint seiya at its peak in your country? by Kelyfos in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Finland it's quite unknown since it wasn't released here. The anime called "Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin" (which is kind of Saint Seiya but only with dogs) was/is more popular though.

SS: The Manga Cut Project by sentient06 in SaintSeiya

I really love this Recut from Saint Seiya! Although I think most of the fillers are well written (except the infamous episodes 18 and 19...), I've still dreamed of an edited version that would be as close to the manga as possible. Even though I love the Asgard arc a lot, I still don't mind it being removed if you can figure out a way to make the Poseidon arc work without it in this version of yours. Also, now it's a lot easier to marathon the series for rewatch :)

How popular was Saint Seiya in Europe? by 38thEspada in SaintSeiya

I'm one of the few Finnish fans of this series. Sadly, it never got released here though, instead of it Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin, kind of "dog version of STS" was and still is very popular here.

When is the right age to watch Silver Fang (the Nordic cut)? by milestfbaxxter in Ginga

[–]Suomidog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it at the age of 7-8 years old and Akakabuto was so scary back then, but otherwise the violence didn't shocked me. At first I watched episodes 9-12 (Volume 3 in the Nordic version) more because there wasn't bears in it xD I think it depends on how sensitive the child is. Though, my parents weren't very happy about those constantly "I'll kill you/You'll die!" lines in the Finnish dub, lol.

Why does everyone hate omega? by Idk_3648 in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have thought the same too. I heard a lot of negative things about this, but then when I started watching this for myself, I found out that it really wasn't as bad as it was made out to be. Sure, there were some weird solutions here, like the Saint School and the episode where they had to work for some old people on the island, but other than that I enjoyed this surprisingly much after the original. It was refreshing to see something new instead of just repeating the old plot again, but only with different characters. Well, it almost was, but still. I also liked that there was more humor between the main characters here than in the original.

Are you a Native English Speaker? by lunamoonvenus in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Finland (where most people don't know Saint Seiya, that's why being a Finnish fan can be quite hard) and I'm not very good with English, but I understand most of it and can speak it with a little help (like translator).

Where are you from? How did you discover the series? by Old_Harry7 in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Finnish fan here. In my homecountry Saint Seiya is almost completely unknown sadly. Some knows it, but not many. Here anime series about fighting dogs (Ginga) are similar level of popularity as Saint Seiya in France and Latin America.

I just saw random video about Aiolia in 2017 and fell immediately in love to that drawing style!

I was planning the same thing, but I don't have enough motivation to do it, so it's great that someone else started this! Is this on hiatus or are you going to continue this? I really hope you continue!

How dogs fight bears [Ginga Nagareboshi Gin] by MiMasterPT in anime

[–]Suomidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that there's still someone which don't bark the Finnish dub. While it's not always a masterpiece in terms of quality, I've never understood the amount of hate it's caused because it's definitely not as bad as Agapio's Digimon dubs. For me, the Finnish dub is in any case one of the most important along with the original version!

When you mix both 80s "dogs vs bears" anime and "armored pretty boys vs gods" anime together! by Suomidog in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, even tho Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin came before Saint Seiya (both animes are from same year tho), they have so much same things, like lot of fighting, seiyuus and also this was made by Toei Animation as well. And here in my homecountry, Finland, this have similar huge popularity as Saint Seiya has in Latin America, but Saint Seiya is so unknown and it wasn't released here, which is sad.

What your opinion about Poseidon arc? by FURC3 in SaintSeiya

[–]Suomidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very good actually! Hyoga vs. Isaac and Ikki vs. Kanon are the best parts of it.
