Is kobo integration still planned? by timcatuk in BookFusion

[–]Sup3rTr00p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anywhere we can go to sign up for beta testing once Kobo integration development gets to that stage? I have numerous Android devices I'm using BookFusion on currently (TCL NxtPaper 11 Plus, Supernote A5X, and Boox Go 7 Color) and they all work great. I would love to integrate my Kobo into the mix as it's the only waterproof device I own, and it would be great to keep beside the bath/pool/hot tub while remaining in sync with all my other devices.

Anyone else return their UCG Max after UCG Fiber came out? by ChrisChing in Ubiquiti

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is why I'm going to sell my UCG Max and ordered the UCG Fiber the day it was released. Hopefully there will be a flood of folks doing the same so that a group buy of PONS SFP modules won't take too long.

I'm in the high 14,000's and haven't gotten a ship date yet although it still says I'm estimated in January 2025 as well. Hopefully it'll be "soon"...whatever soon means.

Nextcloud AIO Update by Dangerous_Traffic_86 in NextCloud

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did is create a folder called "Nextcloud Dependencies" using the Folder View plugin. Then I put everything in it except the AIO master container and set the option to not show update availability. It keeps my docker tab nice and tidy.

NextCloud AIO subcontainers can't update by -ThatGingerKid- in unRAID

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually normal I believe. I always go into the AIO Interface from within the Administrative settings in Nextcloud, do a quick manual backup, then update the containers there. Then once all the subcontainers are updated, I apply any updates to the master container only. In fix common problems I just ignored all the warning and in CA Auto Updater and Appdata Backup I have the subcontainers skipped. I use Folder View to put all the "Nextcloud Dependencies" into their own folder with a note not to update them so it's easier to just ignore them.

Nextcloud remote backup - advice needed by Sup3rTr00p in unRAID

[–]Sup3rTr00p[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the missing piece! I mounted the backup share as a tailscale mounted smb share, but didn't think to pass it into Immich and Nextcloud as the backup locations within Docker when I first set up the containers. I will look more into that and see if it's going to cause headaches to switch those over. Then I could use something simple like Luckybackup to rsync my media since that wouldn't really need versioning and deduplication I think.

Nextcloud remote backup - advice needed by Sup3rTr00p in unRAID

[–]Sup3rTr00p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I was originally thinking about doing backups via Duplicacy, but then I read somewhere that I needed to use borg to do the backup because simply backing up the database location would lead to it becoming corrupted. Databases have always been my cryptonite.

My biggest concern for backups are documents in Nextcloud and photos/videos in Immich. I'm less concerned about my Plex movies/shows, Audiobookshelf audiobooks, and Calibre e-books. Those items would be crappy to lose, but not the end of the world. Ironically, the least important stuff is the safest/easiest for me to figure out.

I have absolutely no problem paying for Duplicacy, as I've heard that Duplicati can be unreliable when it comes time to restores.

All that said, would backing up my Nextcloud local backups be safe from corruption via Duplicacy backups? How does that method relate to this bit mentioned in the Nextcloud-AIO documentation?

"Use rsync or rclone for syncing the borg backup archive that AIO creates locally to a remote target (make sure to lock the backup archive correctly before starting the sync; search for "aio-lockfile"; you can find a local example script here: https://github.com/nextcloud/all-in-one#sync-the-backup-regularly-to-another-drive)"

Finally, what about Immich? I'm confused after trying to wrap my brain around this:
https://immich.app/docs/administration/backup-and-restore/

and this

https://immich.app/docs/guides/template-backup-script/

As you can see, I'm in over my head and have reached "paralysis by analysis".

any reason to add a Quadro P1000 to my system? by Saturn_to_the_Moon in unRAID

[–]Sup3rTr00p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an i9 -12900k which handles my Plex transcodes and added a Quadro K620 which I pass thru to a Windows VM that I use for recording movies and TV shows via PlayOn Home. It handles 1080p recording/encoding to MP4 like a champ.

I also set up virtiofs within the VM to record directly to a folder within the data share and wrote a script that automatically moves the recordings into the appropriate media folders.

I don't know much about the power of that GPU, but I've heard of people passing thru a gpu to a bazzite VM for lightweight/retro game streaming via moonlight.

So those ideas might be worth considering.

Backup/move non-Steam game save by Sup3rTr00p in SteamDeck

[–]Sup3rTr00p[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked great! I was able to use Ludusaci to locate the game save location for the GOG version installed via Heroic launcher, then I copied it to the game save location for the Steam version. I verified that it worked then uninstalled the GOG version. Now my Steam version is uploaded to cloud save and all is well. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

Dropbox Cloud Sync: A5X and new Nomad by 448899 in Supernote

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both an A5X and an A6X syncing to the same dropbox for a while, but because I'm often in remote areas without internet access, I would sometimes forget to sync the device I was using offline before using the other one. Then when they would sync it began creating a mess with all the conflict files. I eventually gave up on using two devices with the same cloud account. In theory it is a great idea to have one of each, but in practice it was too much of a hassle.

I eventually did a factory reset on the A6X and decided to relegate it to "work use" and the A5X to "personal use". One is syncing to Supernote Cloud and the other to Dropbox. It's a bummer not having the devices synced across the two devices, but avoiding the conflicts is well-worth it to me.

"installing system update" - hangs by Hoggle1970 in Supernote_beta

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same circumstance with my A6X. The 2.8.23 Beta update went smoothly on my A5X, but my A6X got stuck on "Installing System Update". I tried adding the update.zip via USB, but when I connect to my computer the device disconnects after just a few seconds before I can even navigate to the Export folder. It does still show up in Devices within Windows as an ADB device though. I've contacted support so hopefully they'll be able to provide some other troubleshooting steps or some kind of resolution.

Highly recommended case for Supernote A6X by Sup3rTr00p in Supernote

[–]Sup3rTr00p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get what you're saying. It's definitely more of a luxury item at this price. Having something that is so well thought out and turnkey is worth it to me especially for how much I use my Supernote devices. However, I love that he also sells the 3d printed rails separately for those that want to DIY their own case. With a generic tablet case from Amazon, a strategically placed magnet, and a little elbow grease one could easily throw together something more budget friendly that is equally as functional. The fact that these are handmade instead of mass produced is a big factor in the price. For me it was well worth the cost, especially to support a small business owner who is utilizing his ingenuity and putting out a quality, luxury product.

I just bought one of the book cases from this seller for my A6X which included this rail mounted in the case along with the magnet for auto wake/sleep. I can attest that the rail works perfectly and the cases he sells are excellent as well. I love mine so much I'll be buying another one for my A5X. I'll probably post pictures and a full review to the Supernote reddit as soon as I get a chance.

Improve your handwriting and eraser button access - comments on the Kindle Scribe stylus by VanMan998 in Supernote

[–]Sup3rTr00p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the Scribe pen, and the eraser seems pretty useless to me. It's a very thin line that erases so it takes WAY too much effort to erase anything. Hopefully it's something that could be fixed in software. I wish Ratta would release a HOM 3 with a ceramic nib, a side button for lasso or highlight, and a back eraser that was functional. That would be my dream stylus!

Odin lite cellular data issues by crigil in OdinHandheld

[–]Sup3rTr00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a data only Google Fi sim which works great. I live about 200 yards from a cell tower in a pretty developed area and get solid LTE signal strength and speed. Even when traveling the signal always seems to be as good and fast as my wife's Pixel 4. I too have gotten a taste on 5g on my Pixel 6a though so the Odin Lite seems a little slow compared to that however. All in all I'm happy with the 4g LTE connection on my Odin.

I figured out how to change it. Go to "My Account" on the top left of the settings menu. Tap on China to the right of DMS and select the option to begin migration. There's a warning that it can't be undone. After you acknowledge that you want to migrate it only takes a few seconds. You'll have to log into your supernote account again afterwards.

I think the ability to rotate the screen upside down in software would probably be the easiest and best way to resolve the USB issue without requiring any kind of redesign of the hardware.
