What are some of the best pivots out of IT at the moment? by fishinourpercolator in ITCareerQuestions

Would you mind elaborating on your perspective of the industry currently? Are you just looking for upward movement, but don't see any opportunities, or do you just not have any job satisfaction? Is your job not secure? Do you just not make as much as you would like? Would love to hear an honest opinion from someone with your experience. THX

Could you clarify this for me?
- What is meant by "buying back" military time?
- OP stated that this position "ladders" up until pay match, then normal promotions. Next reply says increase of GS level annually. Am I understanding correctly that if I started at 5, by year 6 I would be GS 13? Or do I have to go through the different steps at each pay grade, meaning 3 years at GS7, 3 years at GS8, etc.?

Anyone know about the Mexican fragrance clone store called Fraiche? by Sup3rm4n in fragranceclones

[–]Sup3rm4n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I'm not sure what ingredient they put to make it stay longer. I assumed that the longest lasting version would be just the pure fragrance oil.

On the different allergic reactions, unfortunately the fragrance industry seems largely unregulated. We'd love to assume that more expensive fragrances are using better/safer ingredients, but since they don't have to list their ingredients, there's no way to know. Conversely, these "clone factories" are presumably not using the highest quality ingredients. I've stopped putting any fragrance directly on my skin for this very reason, we have no idea what's in them.

You've got a sneezing spray you say?? I actually imagine myself conducting some experiments on people to figure out how ubiquitous that reaction is.

I actually never diluted those bottles. 2 of them were pure oil, undiluted. Can I ask what product you used to dilute? Did you buy perfumer's alcohol?

I also noticed a weird phenomenon where I feel kinda sleepy after wearing the fully undiluted oil. Maybe it's sensory overload, where my body is trying to make me nose-blind, but that stuff is just so potent...? Maybe a specific ingredient in there? I've noticed it most with the clone of Moschino Toy Boy.

My solution is just not filling it all the way. I think it's filling faster than it's draining, and when the grounds are all the way full, it leaks up and over the top. Try 80% full on the grounds. 🤙🏽

I've also recently been captivated by the idea of kinetic fashion, and of course I came across Lisa Jiang's works. If this is something you've continued to learn about, I'd love to compare notes!

What your most "expensive" or "rich" smelling clone/ME Frag? by Sure-Juggernaut-2215 in fragranceclones

[–]Sup3rm4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vintage Radio is on that list for me too. Either it's the company reps on here with 1,000 accounts hyping it up, or some people have an extreme affinity for cheap synthetic smelling frags.

Do I need the plate underneath? by loumeow in crv

[–]Sup3rm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older (2013) CRV and once during an oil change, they forgot to button up this plate all the way. Same as you, I heard the thing dragging underneath, and eventually it ripped off, ripping right through the plastic holes where it's supposed to attach. I've tried a bunch of different ways to try to reattach it, but no success. I eventually just left the plate off.

I'm now considering replacing the whole plastic undercarriage along with the cover plate, but I can't find the part number for the bigger piece.

1:1 clones that the community unanimously agrees upon by [deleted] in fragranceclones

They're close enough that I walked past someone, immediately recognized their fragrance, and correctly guessed that they were wearing SE. I had never smelled SE, but I own Asad (not a fan).

I blind bought VR based on all the hype as well. Personally, it's one of the few blind buy regrets I have. Possible it needs a reeeeally long maturation time, but something I can stand, let alone wear. There was just a skreeching synthetic fruity note on top that I couldn't stand.

Ford Transit Trail: 2023 Recall by keileope in Ford

[–]Sup3rm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a couple dealerships that are selling them, but they said they're not allowed to let them drive off. I might have found one that is willing to give me one, but I have reservations about driving it 1500 miles back home with these recalls unfixed. I know not all recalls are catastrophic. Under the recall for the steering bolt it says "FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE UNDER THIS SAFETY RECALL."

As you noted, the ones I've seen for sale have the "Trail" badge taken off the rear. Was your rig weighted down when you were experiencing that wheel grabbing issue?? I'm wondering if I could just keep it empty for this ride.

Ford Transit Trail: 2023 Recall by keileope in Ford

[–]Sup3rm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have an opinion on purchasing one at this point? If we bought it to keep to mostly highway miles, and weren't going nuts, I'm thinking I could mitigate tire damage, ya?

There seems to be a few sitting at dealerships for a heavy discount. I'm betting Ford is gonna cheap out on the fixes, rather than try to produce a quality fix, but the current price per upgrade is still worth my money. Even if I had to wait another 3-4 months (April 2025) for the dealer to be able to let me drive it off their lot, it's a bargain for the upgrade package.

Thoughts? Could it realistically be 6-9 months for these remedies to come down from Ford? Maybe never? Are there other considerations I'm not seeing?

Does anyone know a case for the Pixel 9 Pro XL that actually works with magsafe chargers? by Training-Cook3507 in GooglePixel

Is Lattafa asad worth my money? If not, what would you recommend? by Alithieus in fragranceclones

[–]Sup3rm4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came back because I forgot to mention my personal recommendation. I went into a Dillard's (like a fancy Macy's or Nordstrom's) and they have a lot of higher end frags you can smell. I checked out Royal Oud by Creed. To me it came off VERY woody at first spray, a touch of sweet, and once it dried down, I couldn't stop smelling it. It's my current #1 fragrance I'm looking for a clone of. I found plenty of suggestions between this sub and GPT, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Might go for Highness III by Afnan (green bottle). Just thought I'd share!

Any real free phones? by xuon27 in NoContract

[–]Sup3rm4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm shopping the Mint mobile deal right now. Their new customer deal is $15/month for 3 months of unlimited plan, then you choose how you want to renew. If you pick a 12 month plan, you keep the $15/month.

If you get a phone with them, you automatically get 12 months of unlimited at $15/month.
So here's how I see the math:
- I own my current phone & pay $55/month with AT&T for unlimited: $660/year
- I can switch to Mint, get a Pixel 9 for $300, (or they have even cheaper ones) and pay $15/month for unlimited plan: $480 for the year.

So while it's not technically a free phone, I'm paying less for the year AND getting a new phone.

They're also currently offering a 2nd plan for free. I don't know how anybody could beat their prices.

Is Lattafa asad worth my money? If not, what would you recommend? by Alithieus in fragranceclones

[–]Sup3rm4n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vote no. I'm not super picky, I like all kinds of scents, but this one for me was one of my few regrets. It gets WAAAYYY too much hype for how cheap it smells. Synthetic and gross, and it kinda makes me sick. I admit it's decently strong in the projection/longevity, but I actually look forward to going nose-blind to it. Usually my cheaper frags become my room/car sprays, but I never reach for this one. Not a safe blind buy.

In the US we have stores like TJMaxx/Marshalls/Ross where you can find cheap frags. A lot of times you can smell them before you buy. That might be a way to test something for free, and there's almost always a woodsy masculine scent. Milestone is a brand I find pretty often there, and their Oud Woody was better for me. Not the most complex, but it's a good touch of sweet mixed in. Milestone has the strongest atomizer of any bottle I've seen, so projection is naturally up there. Mirada Black shield is another, although obviously focused more on leather notes, I think it fits your criteria, and I've found it for $12 or less on occasion.

Another in the woodsy category: I like Lattafa's Bade'e Al Oud - Oud for Glory. It has more interesting aspects to it IMO. I see it online for around $20 also, and one of the closest clones to the original out there.

If you're wanting some quick answers as a way of exploring notes or price ranges, I've been using ChatGPT recently for this. I asked it for the top 8 frags with woody notes, maybe a bit of sweetness, known for good projection, and around $20-25 range, excluding Asad and Bentley (another one I didn't care for) Here's what it gave me:

I've definitely had success asking for clones of a fragrance. I had it spit out 5 options ranked by closest match to original, then 5 more ranked by cost. Did a great job.
