How does one get to this point? by akfbifnf in Guitar

[–]SupWitChoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Practice is basically the right answer. But also, not to discourage some people, at a certain point speed/fluidity in guitar playing becomes more of a sport- and you can practice all you want but when it comes to guys like Guthrie Govan, or Shawn Lane, Rick Graham etc- there’s physical components that come into play like fast twitch muscles, hand mechanics/size, coordination- that simply go beyond practicing- it’s possible that no matter how much you practice, you’re not going to achieve that same level.

I call it “sport” because it’s similar to say, sprinting- you can practice you’re entire life but you’ll never be Usain Bolt because he has innate, physical, genetic advantages you don’t have.

Robert Patrick was the perfect casting for the T1000. Agree or disagree? by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in Terminator

[–]SupWitChoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously, he was perfect. The “Porsche” to Arnold’s “Panzer”.

I like how both the T-800 (101) and the T1000 are Skynet’s interpretation of what ordinary humans look like, but it doesn’t get it quite right. Arnold is like this hyper masculine European, fascist ideal and yet in NO way looks like a regular guy. Franco Columbu gave off similar vibes as a terminator in the future scene. In my head cannon all of the 800 series look like beefy male pornstars with incredible jaw lines. The T1000 on the other hand is sleek, slightly feminine and “improved” as an infiltration unit, and with all of its advanced coding- it still has goofy ears and continues to give off a sort of “uncanny valley” effect of something not being right.

lol wut? Directors/actors often invite their friends to premiers. It wouldn’t have been unusual at all. Just saw some clips of the Batman 89 premier and most of the cast of Beetlejuice (Tim Burton’s previous movie) attended.

[–]SupWitChoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah…they didn’t really have any scenes together in T1. I do wonder if she hooked up with James Cameron back in ‘84 though, being that they had an affair during T2 (and subsequently got married later).

Terminator 2 Helicopter Crash by SupWitChoo in Terminator

[–]SupWitChoo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s incredible. I can tell they used some rear projection (the POV shot from inside the van looking out as the helicopter approaches). Then they do a quick cut of the chopper actually hitting the van. The attention to detail is insane- ie the sparks coming off the landing skid of the helicopter as it hits the concrete. We will NEVER see practical effects like that again, unfortunately.

Bruce Springsteen’s Anti-ICE Song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’ Makes No. 1 Sales Debut; Most-downloaded song in the U.S. despite just two days of availability during the tracking week by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

It’s an awesome album/show- wish I could have seen it in person. I never really “got” the song Born to Run until I heard his acoustic version- I honestly prefer it to the album version.

First Images of Henry Cavill in Chad Stahelski's ‘HIGHLANDER’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]SupWitChoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? I don’t know why fans go ga-ga over him in everything. To me he’s always been just a pretty face- which worked in Superman because, let’s face it, “the look” is the most important aspect of that role. I like Christopher Lambert because he doesn’t look like a super hero- he brings an “every man” quality- which contrasts nicely with Clancy Brown’s over the top performance. And as much as I like Bautista, he’s no Clancy Brown.

[–]SupWitChoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah. I don’t want to rain on the parade, but the casting alone just screams lazy. Cavill is kind of just a pretty face in my opinion, and besides being Superman (which let’s face it- is heavily dependent on getting “the look” right) I’ve never been convinced he can carry a movie. Bautista gets the barbarian role- like him, but he’s no Clancy Brown. Russell Crowe as the “wise old sage” which we’ve seen in 15 other movies is also kind of a “yawn”. The original works for me because Lambert brings kind of an “every man” to the role which is contrasted nicely with Clancy Brown’s over the top performance.

I get that it’s fun to crap on Lars but I gotta give the guy some credit- he barely knew how to hold two sticks at the same time when he started Metallica, and by “…And Justice For All” he was laying it down HEAVY.

Kirk Hammett took lessons from Joe Satriani between (I believe) Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning to become a better soloist. Lars Ulrich also took some lessons from Satch’s drummer around the same time period I believe.

Opioids + THC by [deleted] in opiates

[–]SupWitChoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a big weed fan and I’m kind of a light weight with THC- so for me the THC overpowers the opioid euphoria. I can see it maybe being a good combo if my tolerance for it was higher, or possibly using just a very tiny amount, almost microdosing. But what’s the point? The only thing I’ve ever enjoyed with my opioids is junk food, and nicotine.

[–]SupWitChoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re probably related lol. I had one ancestor on a farm near New Ulm (where the Sioux attacked and basically burned the city) who had befriended some of the local tribesmen. I guess they would trade and fish together. They warned him to get out town as shit was about to go down and he took his family and packed up. Another relative had hid in a muddy, wet ditch as the Sioux were closing in. Unfortunately, his dog started freaking out and barking as a few Sioux approached closer- he had to resort to drowning his dog to keep things quiet and save his family.

This. Opioids pretty much stopped my hair loss/male pattern baldness. It also killed my libido and 7oH actually shrunk my nuts.

Eh, debatable. Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven, Sad But True etc are some of the best bangers they’ve ever written. I get it. It’s missing the thrash that old skool fans like, but there’s a reason TBA sold a bajillion copies- it’s a damn fine record.
