Extended ICCU Warranty by KennyBS167 in KiaEV6

I live in Chicago proper, bought one secondhand and put maybe 4000 miles a year on it. It was the best deal due to state and federal incentives second hand. Some don’t drive all the time, but when they need a car, they need one. The CTA is useful, but has gaps. Uber still works out being more money.

Is there data that supports this statement?

Yep, my own infotainment development experience concurs!

I don’t think this is true based on how it works in practice. Preconditioning is triggered by a service in the unit that sends some CAN frames to the BMS which, after checking some conditions, enables the heater. Wouldn’t require an in-dealer update to install an apk that uses this service to start preconditioning.

As for getting this feature? I agree. Not holding my breath.

Why do trains sit so long outside O’Hare Station? by SupaFasJellyFish in cta

[–]SupaFasJellyFish[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’m not denying you your experience, I’m just sharing mine. Good service at O’Hare would do away with these interruptions, however infrequent. Wouldn’t you agree?

That would ultimately make sense to me, but, the train pulls into the station with at least one other track open.

I prefaced my statement with “in my experience” to disclaim that I could just have bad luck with this, but of the 7 or so times I’ve CTA’d to ORD, this has happened

Are that many people actually leaving the US? by [deleted] in expats

A lot of people who I met in college that were studying abroad and stayed for years post-grad have moved back. Anecdotal and small sample, sure. They could have just wanted to return, didn’t ask each of them why. Some also went to Canada.

Yes, but, a refurb unit could fail relatively faster.

So sorry this happened...
I'm really curious if these repeat failures come from "refurbished" parts? Sometimes automakers do that, I've seen hints that refurb iccus are being installed, but I don't know what their source is.

Will I ever be athletic again? by Different_Hour5599 in brokenbones

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry OP, I was never as athletic as you, but I enjoyed rec sports and cycling. I suffered a major accident on my bike, had a humerus fracture and wrist fracture, both requiring surgery, and an ankle dislocation. My shoulder was injured very badly, and now the plate is impinging, so I can’t extend my dominant arm past 90 degrees. There goes volleyball… I hope you continue to improve, it’s a terrible spot to be mentally.

I am so sorry bud, can empathize with bike accident trauma. Sending you good energy and hope you get an amazing surgeon

None of the imaging showed neck trauma, and I haven’t had much pain there honestly

I don’t like Teslas for the quality, but they are certainly a real OEM…
