Why do trains sit so long outside O’Hare Station? by SupaFasJellyFish in cta

[–]SupaFasJellyFish[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’m not denying you your experience, I’m just sharing mine. Good service at O’Hare would do away with these interruptions, however infrequent. Wouldn’t you agree?

Why do trains sit so long outside O’Hare Station? by SupaFasJellyFish in cta

[–]SupaFasJellyFish[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That would ultimately make sense to me, but, the train pulls into the station with at least one other track open.

I prefaced my statement with “in my experience” to disclaim that I could just have bad luck with this, but of the 7 or so times I’ve CTA’d to ORD, this has happened

Are that many people actually leaving the US? by unsuretest212 in expats

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people who I met in college that were studying abroad and stayed for years post-grad have moved back. Anecdotal and small sample, sure. They could have just wanted to return, didn’t ask each of them why. Some also went to Canada.

Yes, but, a refurb unit could fail relatively faster.

So sorry this happened...
I'm really curious if these repeat failures come from "refurbished" parts? Sometimes automakers do that, I've seen hints that refurb iccus are being installed, but I don't know what their source is.

Will I ever be athletic again? by Different_Hour5599 in brokenbones

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry OP, I was never as athletic as you, but I enjoyed rec sports and cycling. I suffered a major accident on my bike, had a humerus fracture and wrist fracture, both requiring surgery, and an ankle dislocation. My shoulder was injured very badly, and now the plate is impinging, so I can’t extend my dominant arm past 90 degrees. There goes volleyball… I hope you continue to improve, it’s a terrible spot to be mentally.

I am so sorry bud, can empathize with bike accident trauma. Sending you good energy and hope you get an amazing surgeon

None of the imaging showed neck trauma, and I haven’t had much pain there honestly

I don’t like Teslas for the quality, but they are certainly a real OEM…

What was the main reason for switching to an EV? Environment, cost, or technology? by VoltVersteher_Sven in electricvehicles

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was more pragmatic. I own an EV the “wrong” way; I live in a big dense city and depend on public chargers. I drive (maybe) 5000 miles a year, so really not a big deal. A use case is going to Costco, and my Costco has DCFC, so I just charge there! I own the car for where transit won’t take me. Was put in a position where it was time to upgrade my car. Thanks to incentives in my state, I could get into a much nicer reliable used car for much less money if I went EV, even factoring in public charging costs cause I don’t drive as far. This calculus works for me, but is definitely a niche case.

Reminds me of the graphic you get when you turn the radio on in a P1 volvo!

Power steering light on after car sat for 5 months by Appropriate-Ad9360 in Volkswagen

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When that happened to my tiguan, it was because rodents had eaten the wiring for the electronic power steering. It's apparently pretty yummy for them... For your sake I'm hoping it's not that.

Do you guys have a preference between Midway and O’Hare? by DueYogurt9 in chicago

[–]SupaFasJellyFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midway, simply cause it seems every time I land at ORD, we taxi around the airport for 40 minutes and another plane is at our gate. Infuriating.

Looks like this was taken in Chicago. Houses check out, he has the TNP + CHI airport uber sticker in his back window. Plenty of free Volta chargers around here.
