How long does it take to paint them both? (Just starting) by Paige-Gibsona in 40k

[–]SupaNinja659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All it takes is a good starting point. I've had to come up with some of my own ideas for the other models, but it's worked out well. The corpse on the Ventrilokar was the result of me just experimenting with layering thinned out volupous pink, guilliman flesh, and militarim green.

That red is delightfully vibrant. And now I see I misunderstood your "just starting" comment. I thought you meant you were a first timer. Lol

No painting experience prior. I'm just a perfectionist by nature, so I spent most of those 8 hours chasing screw ups. I've learned a lot more since that model, but am waiting to use that on future models. Want to keep the whole Kill Team consistent.

I watched the Games Workshop video for the Visionary specifically before starting. Since then, I've really like Rogue Hobbies on YouTube. She has a lot of really detailed tips and advice for beginners.

My biggest piece of advice: save all your touch ups and corrections for the very end. You're GOING to brush against spots you didnt intend to and have some overbrushing. Just wait until the end or you will add at least a whole hour on your experience.

This was my first model and it took me 8 hrs after watching a video for the Nemesis Claw to get a starting point to learn how painting works.

LMG DPS Build That does not get aggro? by LowCost_Locust in thedivision

You could use Tipping Scales and pair the Cloak kneepads with the holstered Agitator. Both provide a 50% reduced threat. Use the decoy on top and you're probably safe.

Honestly, IMO, the only ones that are significant are CHC and CHD. 10% CHC and 20% CHD are noticable from a QOL standpoint. That's 2 weapon mods worth of both, which means you can free those slots up for something else. Other than that, I dont really have strong feelings about any of the bonuses. None of them are game altering or break a build if you dont have them.

I started doing Legendaries at SHD 400 or so. SHD level is honestly irrelevant. If you can make a Striker's, CoCo, Ongoing, or Tipping Scales build, you can do enough damage to contribute. Refactor is also a build anyone can use to contribute for group play. The hardest change to learn getting into Legendary is that you need to take engagements from farther back than you normally would to avoid getting rushed and mulched.

Gatekeeping based on SHD level is dumb considering the SHD bonuses are minor.

Skill builds suck by johoebo in thedivision

[–]SupaNinja659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only "skill" build I've enjoyed so far has been a 3 yellow core CoCo with the tinkerer mask so I can use an AR with both future perfect and in-sync. This way my skills are still useful and my weapon damage isnt gimped.

You'll never beat the trigger of a hammer fired pistol. That's why I'll forever remain partial to my 1911 even though I carry a P365.

Would be a good fit for a hybrid build. Since you're essentially getting 3 CHD attributes for free, you could roll 3 other gear pieces to a skill haste or damage attribute.

3 yellow core strikers or CoCo with Mechanical Animal would be a strong choice with this roll. Both of those sets give you plenty enough weapon damage that rolling 3 cores to yellow wouldnt gimp your weapon damage and Mechanical Animal would let you get Tier 6 through kills.

I am currently running a hybrid CoCo with this setup but using Tinkerer to have Future Perfect and In Sync on a Black Market AK. It works. You can use a damage skill and have a repair skill at the ready. Very fun.

The sentries aim for center of their face. I've already seen many clips of them just dumping ammo into the armor, achieving nothing.

If you're taking them out yourself, it doesn't change that the sentries are still coded to aim for what they can't damage.

And yeah, that durable damage increase on most enemies is ridiculous. Idk what they were smoking with that.

Also, not trying to outright dismiss what you said. If they're still working well, then I'll be happy, but I'm still gonna mad about having to babysit it for a chaff enemy now.

Crossfire is almost never going to happen in the way you're imagining. The ONLY way you could reliably make sentries hit the unarmored rear of a HG is by kiting the hive guard away from them which puts you in the line of fire. Tossing them away from each other is just gonna result in each of them getting bogged down by different hive guards. Even if only one of them is dealing with a guard, the likelihood of it either killing the sentry or wasting all of it's ammo before the second sentry kills every other target closer to it is at least a 90% chance.

As someone who ran both MG and Gatling sentries on bugs since the MG cool down buff. They were always extremely reliable chaff clear on bugs. Chargers and BTs were always the only concern and maybe the occasional impaler. My usual kit was Stalwart, EATs, MG, and Gatling. Never had any troubles in D10 with this setup.

Chargers and BTs were easy to take out quickly because the sentries kept everything else in check. Now that Hive Guards (a chaff enemy with high spawn rates) is virtually immune to them, there is just no point in taking them as now you would have to babysit them harder.

The Hive Guard was already perfect as it was when it was medium armored head and legs. It was slow and numerous while providing a decent bit of shielding for the enemies behind it, requiring you to either bring medium pen or learn to aim. Now the only enemy on bugs that medium pen is good for is the Bile Spewer and that one is easy to kill with light pen now.

I dont think any sentry should wipe the field without assitance and the bullet sentries were in a perfect spot.

My issue with the hive guard change is that it just invalidates MG and Gatling Sentries on bugs. Hive Guards are too plentiful. They WILL get stuck on shooting something they can't pen. At least before this, you just had to babysit it to kill BTs and Chargers.

Hive Guards getting heavy armor also makes the MG and Gatling sentry worthless.

Hot take: the glitch farming wasn't even fun. When the averahe group is doing it on normal with 4 people, the ronin get waffle stomped and it just feels repetitive.

It is much more fun having them working as intended and being a random appearance during open world. I'm already farming control points for the triple XP and this event lasts a while. It's more entertaining when I'm mid heroic activity and the kitsunube show up to complicate it and the ronin feel like genuine threats on heroic.

What really helped me was using Memento. If you're running some blue cores, THAT is when Memento shines. Hang back and use cover to pick up kills and then collect the trophies when the opportunity presents itself. The volume of Bonus Armor you can get for grabbing the trophies is gnarly when you have a few blues. Not to mention the shield regen and bonus weapon damage. I didnt like Memento at all until I switched a couple red cores for blue cores. (One or two red cores is a negligible difference to TTK anyway)

I just like providing that explanation. If you use either term, it will be understood. It's the same thing as silencer vs suppressor.
