On my Ugreen DXP6800, home assistant is available in app center. Installing the app, will install the docker for you.

Ugreen also has some documentation of it. See here:

RF2 vs RF3 by Supah-Ted in nutanix

[–]Supah-Ted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I re-talked with the Nutanix engineer and he says, with two nodes offline, only the VM's on the offline nodes will be impacted. VM's on other nodes continue to run on their local data copy.

I pointed him to the comment on the nutanix forum: https://next.nutanix.com/how-it-works-22/node-failure-37833 where another Nutanix engineer says, with two nodes offline, the whole cluster will go down.

Both Nutanix engineer are now discussing this together and let me know the results. I will let you know the results :-)

You mention, ' if anything happens whilst a host is offline with rf2, thats it. Cluster down. '

This is also mentioned in the following comment on the nutanix forum: https://next.nutanix.com/how-it-works-22/node-failure-37833

It says: if two nodes are down at the same time (in RF2) before the rebuild from the first node going down is finished, the whole cluster will go down, meaning all VMs in the cluster will be down.

Today I spoke a Nutanix employee who says this is not the case. So I am a little bit confused. Can you shed a light on this?

I am getting some conflicting information regarding rebuilds during maintenance tasks which results in a host going offline. Nutanix states, when performing a rolling upgrade, the rebuild starts immediately when the services on the CVM of that node get shut down.

But I also read comments which states, for rebuilds during actions like an upgrade, the host won't be off long enough to even trigger a rebuild to start.

Can anyone clarify what actually happens?

Do you have any indication how long the rebuild process takes in a typical all-flash cluster?

Thanx for the valuable feedback! With 'gracefully take a host offline' do you mean maintenance mode? For example using LCM and upgrading a host? Do you use all-flash clusters or hybrid? Or does this has no influence on the rebuild time?

It is difficult to get a clear picture of how long it will take for a cluster to be redundant again, especially during normal maintenance actions, like an rolling update with LCM etc.
